Not sure how to handle the following bit in the page: "A particularly funny lampshade hanging of this occurs in The Wind Waker when Link's grandmother presents him with new clothes for his birthday, which on the second playthrough are invisible (meaning you play through the game in Link's blue Outset Island top instead of the usual green tunic). Link is visibly disturbed, as he realizes that there's nothing there (maybe his grandma thought a different kind of suit would be appropriate for Link's birthday!), but still can't stop himself from raising it above his head while the Item Get music play. It's followed by his grandma speaking to him some more while he's still in that pose and facing away from her; it takes a moment for him to realize it and move into a more natural position to listen."
The scene doesn't play out as described, even in the linked video, and in fact plays out identically to the original scene in the first playthrough, just with different text. Surely the lampshade is just in Link giving a disapproving frown instead of a happy smile, rather than a totally fabricated description of how a scene plays out.
Should I edit that whole paragraph to better describe how the game plays that scene out? Should I add in a note just describing the original scene of him getting the green tunic plays out in the same way just with different text? Should I ignore it and just let Rule of Funny take over? I don't know how tropes work when the details given are incorrect.
I hope I'm doing things right here. Please smack me round the head if not. There is a problem with this trope, in that it seems to be about two different things. One is generic overdramatisation of insignificant achievements in video games, the other is specific use by video games of the Engrish phrase "[X] get!" to describe the acquiring of items.
Actually, come to think of it, that second usage is a meme, not a trope, isn't it?
Edited by 92.27.55.220Given it being the most well-known example, shouldn't one Link be the picture?
