"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIn the real life section, the following is stated:
- Wolf packs are at their most dangerous with 4 members hunting together. Larger packs tend to be less organized and have less experience together, 4 member packs however, are composed of Wolves with plenty of experience working together, thus their successful kill percentage is significantly higher.
Can anyone confirm this? This looks like shoehorning, but Reality Is Unrealistic exists for a reason.
Edited by FreshmeatIn Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time the Shadow Temple is not absolutely the fourth dungeon. It is possible to complete either the Shadow or Spirit Temple fourth after the lens of truth and longshot are acquired. Additionally the warping song for the Spirit Temple is in the fourth slot out of seven, not the Shadow temple. Though both involve death/the time after death as a spirit. So it is still applicable but the wording should be changed so that the section reflects how both choices have connotations of death.
In my opinion the Spirit Temple is about redemption and forgiveness/forgetting evil deeds after death versus the penchant of the Shadow Temple being betrayal and banishment being equal to death.
Made my account here to fix this so if there aren't any replies in a week I'll change it myself.
Edited by 72.42.178.91 Hide / Show RepliesFine by me.
While I'm here, I'll make a brief edit on the Wind Waker example.
135 - 158 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Would Left 4 Dead count? It has the number 4 right in the title, and centers around four survivors fighting against a deadly plague.
Hide / Show RepliesAs long as the trope's role is perfectly detailed.
In the past, there were countless "kind of" examples and other shoehorned stuff that were deleted because they didn't really fit the trope.
135 - 158 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Is it just me, or do a LOT of supposed "examples" of Four Is Death fall under the jurisdiction of People Sit On Chairs? It's not so bad on the Four Is Death page itself, but on every other page
Removed:
- In Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, Quattro (four in Italian) of the Numbered Cyborgs is the nastiest of them all, and she was also the most brutally pwned one by Nanoha.
Removed the following:
"*Shinji can be somehow intrepreted as 42, which sounds like (is)dead in japanese."
Reasoning: From the sounds of things Bat Deduction was used to reach this conclusion. As 4 can read as shi and 2 is read as ni in Japanese, if you combine the sounds of 4 & 2 you get Shi-Ni (which is Shinji without the J) which is homo-phonic of how you'd say death in the context of say shinigami etc. The problem is that Shinji in the context of the series is meant to be read as "son of god" or something like that, not to mention the fact that even with the above considered 42 would still be read as Shi-Ju-Ni (which is 42) rather than Shi-Ni (probably equivalent to 4, 2).
If I'm wrong feel free to put it back under the EVA series dot points.
Would a work where four characters die and the finale shows their dead bodies in a line of four count?
I'm feeling strangely happy now, contented and serene. Oh don't you see, finally I'll be, somewhere that's green...Just a possible quick fix to the top of the page: Isn't 4, in Chinese anyway, romanized "si" and pronounced similarly? There's no "sh" in the mix. Could we change this?
That entire first paragraph needs to be trimmed,or removed completely.
this music plays whenever I post also a box Hide / Show RepliesDone. Most of the extra fluff was really only helpful for linguist nerds.
See you in the discussion pages.I've re-removed the picture on the grounds that "deathy-looking-guy with a four on his chest" isn't really much of a descriptor for a page that's basically about a superstitious concept. If the four was a recurring theme with his outfit, like four swords, or four fingers or four recurring patterns, it would work better.

This might be worthy of a notice under Anime/Manga or Films/Animated, but the way I hear it, the fourth Evangelion Rebuild film is being titled in such a way that avoids using the number four; "Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.01 Thrice Upon a Time".
WUT?
