Does the Millenium Falcon count as playing with this trope? The main bulk of the shape is a round disk, it just has the mandibles on the front? It's definately not a played straight Flying Saucer, but the design does appear influenced by the, at least to this troper.

New(ish) trope? "Huge Flying Saucer Hovering Over City" is getting tiresome now. I think it dates back to Arthur C Clarke's novel Childhood's End, and was probably popularised by V.
