I don't think Shazam should be on this list.
His powers are derived from six archetypal figures: the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury. His name (well, not originally) is even an acronym of said gods and figures.
The gods in question don't seem to play a major role in Shazam the way they do in Wonder Woman from what I've seen. Maybe in certain story arcs, but not usually.
Re: The Silmarillion, the Valar are very explicitly stated to NOT be "gods," but rather, the highest order of the Ainur, the angelic beings that SOME mortal men WORSHIPED AS gods. The only real deity in Tolkien's Middle Earth is Eru Ilúvatar.
The story of the creation of the Dwarves illustrates this: the Vala Aulë created the Dwarves out of impatience for the arrival of sentient beings to teach, but only Eru could give them sentience.
There are lots of obvious parallels between the Ainulindalë and Valaquenta, and Milton's *Paradise Lost*
