Would Persona 4 Golden and the other various remakes of the Persona games really count? They're remakes, after all.
Hide / Show RepliesI feel like only Persona 3 FES could possibly count, honestly.
FES is an Updated Re-release for the same system before the sequel came out. P 3 P came out for another system, after the sequel came out (thus avoiding the "sequel stagnation" part). It wasn't released to "make it seem new" but to get it to a new audience. That said, FES adds and fixes so much, and is just one game, I don't think it's a good example.
Golden is a also port to a new system, which really should exempt it from this trope, same as PSP.
I guess Ultimax could count, depending on how you feel about its differences between it and P 4 A. I've definitely heard people complain It's the Same, So It Sucks, but I honestly don't think that's fair.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I'm thinking Ultimax wouldn't count, because from what I've gathered its story follows up Arena's, meaning it's an actual sequel and not essentially the same game. Dunno if things like that would count or if it has to be decently different mechanics-wise, though.
Hang on, who took away the disclaimer about how most of the images were just different regional title screens?
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowI'm not sure the Lunar: Silver Star example is this trope. Those are ports and remakes demanded by the fans, released when the previous system dies (When it became clear the Saturn was dead in the water, they ported it to the Playstation). Furthermore, we GOT a sequel before those ports were made - Lunar: Eternal Blue.
Hide / Show RepliesFor that matter, what about Lunar: Dragon Song? Or does that one not count because it was, well, not very good from what I've heard?
BOOM. Ah, frig, the fourth wall was broken AGAIN.No mention of ANY of the Mega Man series besides Legends in the Capcom folder? Despite the fact that Legends actually averts the trope? What about Battle Network and Star Force? Why are those not mentioned on here?
BOOM. Ah, frig, the fourth wall was broken AGAIN.While the "Third Games" of each generation of Pokemon (i.e. Japanese Blue, Crystal, Emerald, & Platnium) plus Yellow and Fire/Leaf & Heart/Soul are this Trope; given the fact that Original Gold/Silver, Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl and Black/White introduce new Gym Leaders, new Pokemon, new Battle Mechanics *, and, with the exception of G/S, new villains, Those 4 pairs would be better listed as Mission Pack Sequels.
Edited by DonaldthePotholer Ketchum's corollary to Clarke's Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced tactic is indistinguishable from blind luck. Hide / Show RepliesYeah, I deleted it for pretty much the same reason. Pokemon games are formulaic, but saying that they're the same games is a flatout lie.
Someone update the trope image, Capcom announced yet another expansion to Street Fighter II.
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...
