Judging by Moving Pictures, at least, the idea seems to be to never ever tell them anything about sex so that they have no idea how it works. If they don't know how to have sex, they won't, and no sourcerors will show up!
This feels like an over-literal interpretation of a throwaway line in which the Dean is saying that when he was a student they were too busy studying magic to even think about sex, and Windle Poons is saying he's very old and doesn't remember much.
