"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
Where should this go?
Supposedly in Bolivia as late as the 2000s it was standard practice for major engineering projects to bury a living man (traditionally a completely drunk homeless), as an offering to whomever is in charge, to keep the actual workers safe and free from harm. Of course legendary, and go figure if it was one of those takes to creep out the gringo, but sounded legit enough. Supposedly during new construction that involves demolition of an old building and digging deeper foundations, remains are often found, as apparently the practice was much more widespread in years past.
