As I am unable to edit the real life subpage, I would like to suggest the inclusion of Baron Roman von Ungern Sternberg, a former member of the white army in the russian civil war, who was disowned by his own people for his ruthlessness, and who used a modified version of tantrism to use fighting as a way to turn bloodthirst into an altered state of consciousness. The soviets, who were staunch atheists, forced priests to do an exorcism on his corpse to prevent him from returning from the grave and continueing his fight as a ghost.
Is it possible for a Blood Knight to become a Shell-Shocked Veteran?
What's the difference between a Blood Knight and a Sadist?
Hide / Show RepliesA Blood Knight likes to fight.
A sadist likes to hurt people.
They generally don't even overlap much. A sadist's favorite part of a fight would be after the opponent is defeated and they're hurting them for fun's sake. A Blood Knight's favorite part is the fighting itself.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Is a Blood Knight someone who fights just out of bloolust, or can it be a character for which bloodlust is just a side benefit and their motivation is different?
So, as I read before, is it possible for a hero being a Blood Knight ?
Hide / Show RepliesTo quote the page : "A Blood Knight can be of any morality whatsoever." so yes
Working on cleaning up List of Shows That Need SummaryTo be a blood knight, you have to love fighting. Morality plays no part in being a Blood Knight so yes, you can be The Hero and The Blood Knight or a Complete Monster and a Blood Knight.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Should Princess Cadance from MLP: FIM be added to this now? She seemed to enjoy fighting the Taztlwurm...Maybe a lil' too much. And why? Because she was BORED. X-0 At this rate she might end up being like Brave N' Bold Aquaman. XP
Is it about time to split this page?
I swear to God there used to be a really witty sig here. Hide / Show RepliesSo, is a Blood Knight a calmer and more serious version of a Boisterous Bruiser (and in vice-versa, is a Boisterous Bruiser a more bombastic and cheerful Blood Knight)?
This troper just can't see a clear difference between the Blood Knight and Boisterous Bruiser as both tropes are about characters who enjoy combat. It would help if someone could clearly state a couple of key difference between the two tropes.
Edited by Kersey475 "Think like a man of action, act like a man of thinking, and don't be a dumbass." Hide / Show RepliesBlood knight can be more grim about his slaughter. Boisterous-ness not required.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyA Boisterous Bruiser doesn't automatically love battle above all else. Indeed, half the time he'll jump into a fight to end it, because it's getting in the way of his seduction of a pretty maiden, victory in a drinking contest or game of backgammon.
Not that there isn't crossover.
Can I suggest this quote instead? "His is the fury of the wildfire, the boiling blood of the volcano. He fights you not because you've wronged him, but because you're there." http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=130715
Blood Knight is a bit of a Non-Indicative Name for some examples, because some of the characters here just love to fight, but not so much because they're savages. Finn of Adventure Time, for instance.
I find it interesting that the Blood Knight is always seen as a bad thing. Living for battle isn't really inherently bad, in my mind, depending on what you're fighting for. For example, Rachel from Animorphs, is it really that bad to live for combat when you're fighting alien invaders who would wipe out your race through assimilation?
Hide / Show RepliesInterestingly, the Sliding Scale Of Antiheroes states that "Blood Knight is almost a requirement for a Type V". I completely agree that being a Blood Knight is NOT a bad thing. The pleasure derived from combat can be a good consilation prize for a Knight in Sour Armor (in fact, the protagonists of my story ideas can be described as "Blood Knights In Jade Armor").
"Think like a man of action, act like a man of thinking, and don't be a dumbass."Does a character count as a Blood Knight if they are an adrenaline junkie who is specifically addicted to the thrill of battle adrenaline?
"Think like a man of action, act like a man of thinking, and don't be a dumbass."Regarding quotes: Articles should have only one (or in rare cases two) quotes. The rest go on the Quotes subpage. If there is any concern over what would be the best page quote, please conduct it here in Discussion rather than by Edit Warring back and forth.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Why is this page still locked?
Now if you excuse me, Starfleet is about to award the Christopher Pike Medal to my dick. — SF Debris Hide / Show RepliesIt's unlocked now. I guess that some good came out of The Situation.
Example from One Piece manga/anime
The seven cp9 members are bloodknights by far higher degree than Zoro or Mihawk. When the Strawhat Pirates arrive at Enies Lobby, these seven psychos know how to milk every bit of fun outta them. They explain everything the heroes should need/like to know, they fight one-on-one, they talk about how the Buster Call is going to ruin the fun, and they even refer to the Strawhats as "prey" a couple of times.
Edited by 93.160.177.248 Hide / Show RepliesYes. Currenly the Image pickin' forum is working on who ought to be the poster man. FYI, currently Mister Kenpachi is a prime candidate.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I can't find ANYTHING on that lobster entry...other than a sourceless article on wikipedia... so yea probably should delete that
"Yes. Currenly the Image pickin' forum is working on who ought to be the poster man. FYI, currently Mister Kenpachi is a prime candidate"
So, is there a real reason this page is locked? Just put a picture of Khorne up or something.
Edited by SG_man_forever Without music, life would be a mistake. -Friedrich NietzscheNo matter what it might be in tribute for, the content of Death Dealer still doesn't demonstrate the trope or even indicated that the illustrated character is even an example. It's honestly worse than not having an image because it makes the meaning of the article confusing.
Edited by thatother1dudeWhy not have an Image Links page? And really, how do you show with a single image that someone doesn't care about good or evil as much as they care about the fight?
Regardless of what image we choose for the Blood Knight page, I say we add a relevant caption to the image like "War Is Hell? Not for this guy."
"Think like a man of action, act like a man of thinking, and don't be a dumbass."
