What if it's when someone sees something disturbing, and shouts, "No! No! No!". Does that count? The description says that it can be when a character realizes that something terrible has happened, and I guess that could be a bad thing that they're responding to.
Hide / Show RepliesMmm, I think "No. Just… No" Reaction would fit that better.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThis page is getting pretty big. Do you think we should split it?
Pinball cleanup thread Hide / Show RepliesSeriously. Do you think we should split it by category? Hello? Anyone there?
If no one responds in two hours I'm splitting them.
Edited by BlueGuy Pinball cleanup threadDiscussion pages usually move really slowly, so that's a very small time frame. Between three days and a week is more common, if it's something that needs attention promptly.
The character count for this page is 396412. Pages must be split before 500000 characters to avoid server trouble. They will be flagged once they are between 400000 and 500000, in this Special Efforts thread that then takes care of splitting them. You can split the page if you want, though it isn't needed quite yet. There's no harm in it, however, and it'll save one case for people to split in that thread since it would come up soon.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.... Well. That was abrupt.
You were a bit too late, though. They're split now.
Pinball cleanup threadWhat was abrupt, out of interest? Unless you mean that you didn't reload this page until after you split them, which would cause my reply to be a suprise. Oh, and when pages are split like this, the page type needs to be set as trope+index, and then the page needs to be edited to make it work; for some reason, just using the [index] [/index] stuff doesn't do it by itself. :)
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. Is it just me or does Michael. J. Fox have an awesome no yell?
Hide / Show Replieshaha, that was some pretty good screaming. And all of those examples were unironic, too! Just one question: Why on earth was a man with a shotgun and chainsaw being surrounded by medieval knights at the end?
Hide / Show Replies^ Evil Dead, best movie EVER!
You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.Evil Dead 2 to be precise. And that wasn't no mere "man", he was Bruce Fucking Campbell. Hail to the King, baby!
I've seen the future, brother, and it's murder.I think this video should be used instead, since it covers multiple types of media. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eal4fep7pK4&feature=channel
Any thoughts?
Is it just me, or is this trope starting to get out of hand as a mainstream screaming trope?
Hide / Show RepliesYeah it is kinda out of whack, but it can still be heartbraking if rightly delivered (Ex: Lord of the Rings) or hilarious if rightly delivered (ex: most sitcoms, really good Narm examples),exasperating most of the time though(most Narm examples)
Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter
IRL, I have often heard a Russian BIG NO - the middle part of nyet is not unlike Japanese iya although I do admit its scream-ability is affected by the occlusive N and T that flank it.
BOLSHOI NYET often sounds like a protracted plaintive wail rather than a scream.
