Prehaps there should be a section at the bottom for aversions, or at least just notable aversions.
Because there were too many and the page had almost no examples of the trope when we allowed aversions. Alot of the aversions were very minor as well such as a female character having the option to have tiny scars in Mass Effect or a female character getting beaten in serious scene.
Only the most extreme exceptions can be listed, such as when a female characters injuries are played for comedy or if the scene isn't supposed to be tragic.
Aversions of the second gross kind are allowed.
So, even if she gets a really nasty scar on her face (like a Glasgow Grin), it doesn't go on the page?
Is there a trope that covers aversions? A trope for when beauty is ruined? I can't find something like that.
I know the rule is no aversions but I have included the fight in True Romance because she gets the shit kicked out of her and ultimately wins anyway. The rule is definitively averted in that instance, as opposed to others where people say it's averted because someone broke a nail.
Even though we have Scars Are Forever the "no aversions of 1st type" reasoning seems rather bigotic to me. It's like outright stating that the only purpose of Action Girls is to look badass and pretty/sexy. Too many straight examples of this trope exist. Listing one or two serious aversions will only prove that even the most badass Action Girls are vulnearable and adds some depth to their characters.
Humankind is like a train. No matter how powerful the locomotive is, it can only travel as fast as its slowest car allows it to.I don't really like the tone of this article. Are you seriously saying that there's not enough realistic violence against women in the media? Both men's rights activists and feminists don't like it when women get special treatment because of their beauty. I don't believe for a second that out of the hundreds of thousands of Tv shows and movies and the literally millions of videos on youtube no one can find enough of them to fill even an average-length list. The beauty industry has a huge amount of influence over things like fashion magazines and advertising, but I hardly think that a woman's scar being an inch shorter than a man's proves that the entertainment industry is run by a nefarious cabal of plastic surgeons who are trying to teach people that outer beauty is everything. I don't think that showing women at their worst is really going to cause any fans to abandon the show or movie in massive numbers. The most popular "chick flicks" like "Bridesmaids" and channels like Comedy Central and Tru TV avert this trope in spades.
Added "Mortal Kombat" to the video game section in the second list. Even if the asterisks were supposed to be from the first list, it's still better to name the game since the entries are so far away.
Okay, so if a character gets a lightning bolt to the face and has their optic nerves burned out, but all they have to show for it is Milky White Eyes * (even when realistically, they'd be lucky to still have a face), would it count? Even when said character is male?

Is there any reason aversions are not allowed?
