Is the Meat Loaf album actually the Trope Namer? I mean, I'm pretty sure the expression predated the album, but it was just a figure of speech and had nothing to do with bats actually being sinister until Meat Loaf released that album with the giant demonic bat on the cover.

Always expect the worst and you can only be pleasantly surprised.

Is there a trope that shows bats in a positive way? If not, I propose to make a Benevolent Bat trope.
