The show itself doesn't tell us anything about the nature of their relationship with the twins. They never interact. But their relationship with the twins throughout the novel is never anything better than "strained" anyway, so there would be no change there, even if the show had claimed that.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Taking that into consideration, I revised the above entry. Here goes:
- Foregone Conclusion: Given that Roman Holiday is a prequel to RWBY, anyone who's familiar with the show will already know that Roman will become a wanted criminal after leaving the Spiders syndicate and Neo will disown her Trivia identity after becoming a Self-Made Orphan.
That's not really what the foregone conclusion of this story is.
If there's any foregone conclusion of the story it's that, no matter what pressure or manipulation their relationship is put under by others, we know Roman and Neo's friendship will survive no matter what — because we already know how close they are in the show.

Yeah, that'll work.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Would Doomed by Canon work for Roman? I mean, as great as the novel's insight into his character is, anyone who's seen the show will know he's going to die.
Well, I asked on the main thread for RWBY and it was agreed that the Saved by Canon trope applies since no matter what trials characters like Neo and Roman go through, they ain't dying at all given the roles they have in the Beacon Arc (and in Neo's case, the Atlas Arc).
I would like to consider proposing the following addition, given that the novel's considered a prequel:
