If he wanted to lure him into Templar ideology, why didn't he do it early? To honour Julie's wish to not indoctorinate Arno? Or because he relied on Elise to do it without thinking so much about it? Or he just wanted the assassins to be short in one man in their ranks?
If you think about it, Arno doesn't seem to have any friends despite his high status in society (Victor and Hugo don't really count as friends), this gives a reason to his irresponsible behaviour (he is a nobleman's ward who has lots of energy and few to no ways to release it)
This raises a question, did Mosieur de la Serre hide Arno from the assassins by hiding him from the general public? The database states that his historical records dropped until the storming of the Bastille, so he kept him away from assassin's eyes in hopes of luring him into Templar ideology?
