Never confirmed? Have you read the last chapter? Of course it's a parody. The last chapter is pretty much one great big meta-commentary with Voldemort standing in for the author and the all other characters as the readers - just swap "atheist" and "Christian" with each other and "Reddit" with "fanfiction" and you've pretty much got a direct written confession. My goodness, look at it for yourselves:
