Yes. That's the problem. Way to hit the nail on the head.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I find it incredibly depressing that this whole PC debate is still going. It's only been a few weeks since the terrorist attacks on Paris and America shows more outrage over college dramas than actual pain and suffering.
I find it incredibly depressing that people go on a discussion board for page dedicated to people complaining about a progressive humor website to complain about how they're not complaining about what they want them to complain about.
Eh, most DMOS pages are shit anyway, but the MRA bitching is always worth a laugh.
Besides, my comment was more out of bemusement than anything.
EDIT: Also, I find it rather amusing that despite supposedly caring SOOO MUUUUCH about the Paris attacks, you only decided to use them as a way to shut down someone with a different opinion. People can care about things of various levels of importance. Otherwise, why would you care about my comment? It's not as important as the terrible things going on in the Middle East, or Egypt or other countries, obviously.
Edited by LitleWiggleHold on, you think Cracked is *ahem* "politically progressive" and have a laugh over people not thinking so and proceed to try and mock the people to disagree in a discussion section literally everyone you're trying to mock can see? That's even more unaware than someone who criticizes racism while at the same time making a holocaust joke. And, if you think that's a very specific example of unawareness, I point you to where I got it from: One of the articles listed in this very DMoS page. :)
Cracked's idea of feminism is not a societal shift into making women have equal rights, but to make men die more. Their idea of feminism is one where men shouldn't hit women on principle, even as self-defense (a double standard, which actual feminism is against on principle), while men being abused is basically trivia.
Cracked's idea of racism is not that of people being prejudiced against people who look different and how that's wrong. Their idea of racism is to pretend that anyone who disagrees with them, specially 'other' straight white men (and I emphasize the "other" because most of Cracked is comprised by straight white men), are bigoted... before making an entire article about how anime is inherently weird and filled, the article, with stereotypes about Japan.
The cracked staff are not progressive sages, they're deluded (or maybe just crazy); but the defenders of such attitudes are always worth a laugh. Trust me, champ, whatever you think you're supporting, it isn't feminism or anti-racism.
BTW, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe DoctorSleep was actually agreeing with you. So on the defensive.
PS: I'm open to edit this if it seems overly confrontational. But I don't take kindly to, for lack of a better words, fanboys whining over people not liking what they like before proceeding to strawman away the criticisms in a way their frame of mind can accommodate. To wit, a gay guy who's feminist and isn't white might just not like Cracked's bs. Shocker, right?
Edited by phylosYou're free to think whatever you want about Cracked's editorial line, I myself disagree with a lot of stuff Sargent and others have written, but saying that they want "to make men die more" and that they think "men being abused is basically trivia" is an absurd exaggeration and a ridiculous lie of the kind Cracked is often accused of.
... And yet, it isn't an exaggeration. Those two issues come from the article I (and several others) signed.
I quote verbatim from the article (the #4 item)
"The second thing we can do is an extension of our plan from the last entry. America's newly ripped, muscular women should be given training on how to kill their husbands in proportionate numbers to how often men kill their wives."
Then goes on to say that maybe this is a bad idea and we should stop thinking of men as the pillars of non-victimhood. This would be actually solid out of context. The problem comes when one rereads their immediately previous entry (#5), which was a roundabout support of women being the victims and that it's not ok for men to hit them while "joking" about women hitting men; thus, they condemn the "men are tough" stereotype while supporting it at the same time.
Which means that the thing they (supposedly) consider a bad idea was the only actual "solution" they proposed, given that the better alternative was undermined by their own hypocrisy.
I would have used it as my dethroning moment of whatever idiot wrote that, but alas, the entire staff signed it thus, the only conclusion possible is that the entire staff believes that bs.
Anyway, this discussion already forced me to read that odious article again and have zero interest in repeating so I won't bother coming back here, plus I was already clear in what I wanted to say. Cheers.
Edited by phylosRemoved an unsigned entry:
- 6 Star Wars Characters Too Idiotic For Film. "[Wookiepedia], the Star Wars wiki so nerdily titled that anything harboring a vagina will immediately burst into flames upon reading it." Wow, hahaha, you can almost taste teh funy. Yes, anyone caring DFAB gentalia is clearly not intelligent or nerdy enough to handle a name of a wiki devoted to a film that heavily influenced geek culture, unless of course it's printed on their kitchen table. Did this kind of thing really fly in 2012? Maybe the Mayans were really trying to warn us.
One DMOS per troper. Pulled the more recent one, but if you want to put it back in, you'll have to pull your other DMOS.
- Angelslayer: Considering this is cracked, there's no way any of that was 'anti-feminist.' It's just Cracked being assholes as usual, acting like feminism is the one true path to equality and that MR As are a bunch of blind babies, the usual disgusting generalizations. #4 really made me sick to my stomach as a survivor of an abusive relationship. After all their biased Gamer Gate articles and the shit-tastic MRA article by Sargent I had all but abandoned Cracked, but now for sure they're dead to me.
Also, GamerGate is a topic we prefer not to talk about.

first, that strikes me not as vandalism, especially given that we are trying to stay out of the Zoe Quinn war. Second, please use Ask The Tropers for reports. Putting them on random discussion pages is likely going to be missed.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThank you for your consideration.
P.S.: This is no longer about Quinn. This is about something much bigger and *MUCH* darker: Censorship and corruption of gaming journalism. Just wanted to clear that up for you.
FC: 3179-6559-9429I know. Either way, we'd like to be not pulled into this fight.

I'm a Troper!!! Hide / Show RepliesOne of the wiki history archives ran out of room. Should be fixed now, but see this thread if it isn't or if you need future information.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
I love how this list mostly consists of "they're more politically progressive than me! WAH! WAH!"
