I wanted to do an entry for the Vegas cape team (Satyr, Leonid, Nix, Blowout, Floret and so on) but I ran into difficulties figuring out whether they are Wards or full-on Protectorate. Anyone know for sure?

Drone 23.2 describes them as Protectorate.

Where are people getting the heroes real names from?

Regarding this trope for Alexandria:

  • Expy: One of the most obvious in the story. She's a Flying Brick Action Girl with a classical aesthetic, considerable leadership skills, and a pronounced ruthless streak. In short, she's Wonder Woman with a few details switched around.

...it doesn't seem that obvious to me. You've pointed out some real similarities, but none that shout "this character was derived from that one".

Agreed. If anything I'd say that the Triumvirate as a whole are influenced by Superman.

Alexandria is the Nigh-Invulnerable Flying Brick.

Legend is The Paragon/The Nice Guy/superhero everyone looks up to (and he shoots lasers and flies).

Eidolon has the Silver Age Superman ability to have New Powers as the Plot Demands and is the single most powerful superhero.

Regarding this proposed trope for Sophia:

  • Ax-Crazy: She signed up as a superhero because of the opportunities for violence. Mostly keeps it under rein, but it still bubbles out often enough that even her allies are seriously uncomfortable around her.
  • Serial Killer: All but outright stated to be this during her time as a vigilante. Still indulges in a bit of premeditated supervillain-murder when the rest of the Wards aren't looking.

...I don't think this has been established in any way that would justify the tropes. Her killing appears to be for Social Darwinist reasons rather than out of bloodthirst.

I was thinking it would make sense to split the entries between Brockton Bay heroes and heroes from elsewhere, but that raises the question of where to put the group description and group tropes. I see two obvious ways of going about it:

1. Have a Brockton Bay section with descriptions and tropes for the local area only, and then an "Elsewhere" section with another, semi-redundant description and tropes for the broader group; or

2. Divide each relevant group into Brockton Bay and Other sections — one folder with the group description section and all the group tropes, then one folder for Brockton Bay, then a third folder for the rest.

Any thoughts?

would Flechette count as a BB-hero or an 'other'? she features quite heavily in the narrative but it's equally clear that she's pretty much on loan from the other city's wards.

while we're at it, i think creating a difference between 'original BB *villains*' and the latecomers might be good, if only to avoid slight spoilers and stuff and keep things consistent. the Ambassadors are in 'others' but the Fallen and Teeth are in BB Gangs for some reason. it might also mean some capes currently in the others/misc, like Kaiser and Marquis could be moved to BBG, since they were active only in BB for their whole careers

I would put Flechette in 'other' — they make it quite explicit that she's not a member of the Brockton Bay team at the time she's introduced, and even if she joins later, it will have been many arcs. By contrast, Weld appears a handful of times before he becomes a Brocktonite, but his proper introduction comes almost immediately afterward, and at a time when he's being put in as leader of the team.

I think you're right about the gang sorting — I might well leave the Teeth in BB Gangs, but the other moves you suggest sound sensible.
