A Yandere is someone who is crazy in the head because of love. Erica's youth seemed to have run into some Stepford Smiler stuff, but that's not Yandere

I think that has more to do with her relationship with Mr. Sonoda than anything, where she does come off as down right possessive. Once he brakes off the relationship, Erica shatters.
Then again, I will have to agree with you... when it comes to the dere tropes, Erica is far from straight forward. She is possessive, but not to the point of murder... she is more clingy but has no one around him to be jealous about (that comes latter). The thing that I have noticed is that she does qualify for the trope, but only in the technical sense... and it would not take much to pull her off that list.
Erica is no Yuno.
