Would it be best putting Polterpup into the Other category? I'm not sure he really classes as a 'regular ghost' given that there's only one of him and you never fight him.

But you do "fight" (More or less, as he never attacks you) him three times in 2 in order to get important objects back.
Personally I'm wondering if he shouldn't be moved to the "Super Mario Bros.: Allies"-category instead and leave the entry here for those you encounter in the ScareScraper-mode. Unless Nintendo implements him as Luigi's constant companion in future Mario-games, where one could think about putting him to "Super Mario Bros.: Mario Brothers".

This list is getting huge. Recommending split to separate pages. There was enough content for each of the first two games to warrant having their own in the first place, so I'm curious why it was all lumped into one page to begin with.

Agreed. I think it should be split into characters who first appeared in the first game, characters who first appeared in the second and characters who first appeared in the third game. Gooigi possibly would be in the third one, even though he appeared in the remake of the first.
