Nothing I've found so far, though given the density of sci-fi references the show makes, it wouldn't surprise me. The movie if not the book at the very least seems like it would've been on the creators' radar. But I can't confirm it.
The Crippling Overspecialization entry as written does seem pretty speculative/WMG, could probably be removed. We could reword the faster-than-sound phrasing elsewhere. Any other parts you were looking at? The episode doesn't confirm much, but the shield only goes up for explosions and bullets, not Spike's hand-to-hand strikes, which Pierrot just blocks or dodges, or that final knife toss. So while I don't know that we can confirm it works exactly like Dune, I don't think it's an unfair comparison based on what we see.
Edited by UnsungI'm going to take out the speculation that it doesn't work against anything subsonic (honestly, that's so specific that I've got to cut it without citation, even if we do agree that it's speed based), cut Crippling Overspecialization entirely, and mention that how the shield works is unexplained.

While they had pretty minor parts they still managed to show up in quite a few episodes as well as the movie. I think they might have had the most appearances of any of the non-crew characters after Punch and Judy.
Hide / Show RepliesSounds good. In all honesty they are such iconic extras I had assumed they had their own entry and only noticed they didn't when you mentioned it.
"You like Castlevania, don't you?"@uratapu We're an English language wiki but a global website, and we're a wiki which means contributions happen on a voluntary basis. If it bothers you that not all of the dub actors are represented here, feel free to go out and look up that information and add it — don't remove valid information that's already here.
You should have created a new topic for this. You should take this to ask the troopers and see what the mods think. If they say put we go with that, of not we go with that.
@Contrafour Per this Ask the Tropers discussion here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/query.php?parent_id=73448&type=att , I believe the standard is to use the latest official translation, which in this case is the dub.
Edited by UnsungAll the instances of the theory that the movie is a dying dream for Spike seem a bit unnecessary. The movie begins with Spike going to sleep on the Bebop, and ends with him waking up on the Bebop. Seems to me, it was just a normal dream, plus I believe the movie canonically takes place between episodes 22 and 23. I wanna make this change, but just wanna make sure that it would be okay. Its bugging me a bit.
Hide / Show RepliesSeems fine by me. There's no reason to think it was a Dying Dream other than the fact he, at some point, died (probably). Even "it was a dream" stuff is still technically speculation.

So... is it actually confirmed that Mad Pierrot's shield works Dune-style? The article talks very concretely about it only working against supersonic attacks and that this weakness is the reason for the project's failure (... I would think the subject being insane and killing everyone would be more a cause, mind you) but I know neither of these things are confirmed in the show itself. Is there supplemental material confirming it?
