Water on mars.
Did the series ever specify where the Martian colony/country is on the Martian surface?
Sure, there may be water on Mars. Heck, there's water on the Moon, but that doesn't mean it's both easy to access and potable.
Even on Earth, where liquid water covers 70% of the surface, there's still only a tiny percent of that which is safe to drink, and ironically, the very method that keeps potable water potable actually pours "fresh" water into the "salt water" oceans.
