Okay so... a few issues with this page.

Literally every example on the main Age-Inappropriate Art page are In-Universe examples, whereas this is entirely from an Audience Reaction perspective and going "my gosh, I can't believe kids dare sing about 's-e-x'!" which is a bit odd.

Moreover, we really need to talk about what is "age-inappropriate. Because the vast majority of these songs are bowdlerized to the point of no longer being inappropriate, and others are already so not-inappropriate that these are laughable. Still others are only metaphorically inappropriate and are only bad if you're actively listening for it. Some examples being:

  • Trapt's "Headstrong", which is about stubborn determination.
    • Okay... and?
  • Kidz Bop once covered Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl”, a song with the word “shit” repeated throughout.
    • Somehow, I doubt the Kidz Bop version does.
  • La Roux's "Bulletproof", which even in the title mentions bullets.
    • ... seriously? Kids aren't allowed to know bullets exist?!?
  • 20 features Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song", which has the singer mention having sex and wanting to strut around in the nude.
    • 'Now, this one I know'' is edited to "send some really nice texts" so... yeah. Not inappropriate.
  • DNCE's "Cake By The Ocean" is on 32 despite its strong sexual content. Just because Joe Jonas sings it doesn't mean it's for kids.
    • '''I know the uncut version is so deep in metaphor that, even though the song is Intercourse with You, the dirtiest lyric is probably "I'm going blind from this sweet-sweet craving."

Seriously, these are so bad that I kind of want to scrap the page entirely and start again from the ground. There are definitely valid examples ("Toxic," for example, makes it clear that the song, as performed by the kids, is inappropriate, which very few others do).

Since the site isn't letting me edit, a few things:

I in the first sentence, I meant "Every example other than the Music section." And I also wanted to suggest moving the Music section to "Real Life" since they're not actual In-Universe musical examples, but rather real life examples of people performing Age-Inappropriate Art

[So per the "Is This An Example?" thread, if a song is bowdlerized to the point of being age appropriate, then it isn't Age-Inappropriate Art.

That, of course, still leaves songs insufficiently bowdlerized and songs that are just inherently too inappropriate.

As such I'm going to cull the examples, removing blatant misuse and commenting out examples where it's not clear if the song is actually inappropriate in Kidz Bop.
