Because the forms the "why did you not mention this thing from this work I like" examples can take are insulting at best, and condescending at worst. They seem to think that everyone has the same interests they do, and that their opinion is so important that this apparent crime against humanity must be pointed out even after they list their example. The worst case I saw was something that went like "How can you guys sleep at night without mentioning X?" They seem to be incapable of just saying what the example is and leaving it at that.
I don't really know what to do about it myself, especially on a page like this, but I think the "I think therefore I am" example should be changed. For a start, it was invented before Descartes. Even Plato mentioned it, apparently. For another thing, non-philosophers don't seem to have much of a clue what it means even though they know the phrase, so it's not an example of something obvious everyone knows.
The big bold doubleposted "DON'T DO THIS" seems uncharacteristically serious and angry compared to the other pages on how to edit.
