I have real trouble getting my head round the idea that \\\'\\\'{{Friends}}\\\'\\\' is a spiritual successor to \\\'\\\'{{Cheers}}\\\'\\\', because it\\\'s about a Nakama of unmarried thirty-somethings with sexual tension and has \\\"some form of restaurant as their default set\\\".

Basically, the emphasis of the two shows is completely different: \\\'\\\'{{Friends}}\\\'\\\' is about a group of friends with a LocalHangout (and storylines are just as likely to take place in either apartment). \\\'\\\'{{Cheers}}\\\'\\\' is a WorkCom where the place of work happens to be a bar. And if you can map the characters as neatly as Channel4 did when it trailed \\\'\\\'HowIMetYourMother\\\'\\\' as \\\"New episodes of \\\'\\\'Friends\\\'\\\' without boring ruddy Ross\\\", I\\\'d be very surprised.

Basically the emphasis of the two shows is completely different: \'\'{{Friends}}\'\' is about a group of friends with a [[MyLocalHangout Local Hangout]]. \'\'{{Cheers}}\'\' is a WorkCom where the place of work happens to be a bar.
