For the record, Japanese syllables practically always end in a vowel or an \\\"n\\\", and the classic Japanese \\\"alphabet\\\" system\\\'s \\\"letters\\\" each stand for a syllable. Thus, you aren\\\'t supposed to pronounce Sasuke \\\"sauce-gay\\\" because the first syllable in that ends in an \\\"s\\\" sound, which is not gonna happen in Japanese.

Sasuke is three syllables, the first sounding a bit like the English word \\\"saw,\\\" and the last sounding like English \\\"\\\'kay.\\\" But the \\\"u\\\" in the middle shouldn\\\'t be elided altogether....

Then again, if that\\\'s a \\\'\\\'short\\\'\\\' \\\"u\\\", then I can see why the dubbers went for \\\"sauce-gay.\\\"
