Edit: Okay, watched the movie again and I can expressly hear shouts of \\\"Whooo!\\\" and \\\"Yeah!\\\" among other clearly discernible if inaudible (if that makes sense) words and sentences spoken among the Northern Army\\\'s soldiers as they\\\'re celebrating victory. So, the suggestion that they\\\'ve all succumbed to the virus is unequivocally false.

I don\'t think the theory about the Northern Army having completely succumbed to the Simian Flu pans out. Regardless of how disorganized or sloppy their assault on McCullough\'s base was, it was still a coordinated effort encompassing thousands of troops, which would require verbal communication to direct. Even if the individual infantry soldiers on the ground could communicate via hand signals, vehicle crews like those in tanks and Apaches flying overhead would basically be completely blind to what\'s happening around them and the commanders back at their base would have no means of running the operation because they can\'t communicate over the radio. Without any verbal communication capability, the whole thing would fall apart as soon as it began.
