resolved mermaid/siren short comic on tumblr Web Original
This was a short comic drawn by an artist on tumblr. I remember very little but I really want to find it again! It was a short story about a mermaid or siren of some kind from the perspective of a fisherman. The only thing I remember clearly was a panel in which the fisherman could see a smiling face in the guts of a freshly cut open fish.
Thanks in advance!
resolved Children's Show Where Everyone is a Blob Western Animation
I just saw a glimpse of this show on Nick Jr. Asia but didn't get the title. It's a British Slice of Life cartoon where everyone is a colored anthro-ish blob, with the orange one kinda looking like Arthur. In the glimpse of the episode I just saw, the main characters turn into moles and dig around the world, but I don't know if it was an Imagine Spot or if they're shapeshifters.
resolved [Solved] Cartoon mixed with live action elements at the start and end Western Animation
I remember seeing this cartoon, I presume it was a movie since it. The main character is a brown haired boy and I only remember one other character in the cartoon part, which was a dog who had a clock in his. The boy is trying to get back to the real world which he does by the end and gets a call from his friend who finds the same thing that he went through in the beginning (I think it was some kind of tent/booth? The details on this are fuzzy) he then goes playing outside and enjoying life.
Edited by Animaltamerresolved Rabbit game Videogame
I dont remember much of this game. Just that the main character is an anthropomorfic rabbit, I think he used a laser gun, and you fight against chameleons.
Edited by ElBuenCuateresolved Book series about people in an apartment building, one of whom is an elderly trans woman
Sometime in The New '10s, I read a review in the paper for the latest book in the series, which was about the trans woman's backstory. I think her name was an anagram of her deadname. All I remember about her backstory was that she came to the city as a teenager while still living as male.
resolved "Everybody do the ??? Dance" song Music
I once heard this song in a store in 2014 or 2015. It went something like "everybody do the wants it dance everybody do the wants it dance something something clap your hands everybody do the wants it dance” but because I don’t remember some of the lyrics (and I’m not sure if they really said “wants it”), I’m unable to find it, and this point, I’m convinced that I imagined it.
resolved Me & Joe Priest (solved) Print Comic
A man lives in a post-apocalypse world. His profession is a preacher or pastor. When he goes to minister to women who are barren and can't conceive, he is actually getting them pregnant. Their husbands don't know this and think he is praying with them. It might have been a DC Comics graphic novel in the 1980s.
Edited by cameoguyresolved Anthony Horowitz - short story title
The following synopsis maybe can help:
There was a reality quiz show where contestants had to answer trivia questions. If you got one wrong, you were killed in a rather gruesome way. The "winner" is ultimately killed at the end by contestants on another show whose task is to steal a million pounds - so they just shoot him and take his prize money.
This quote is taken from the trope "Deadly Game", under Literature.
resolved Japanese(?) Horror/Psychological Movie Film
I remember very little about this film, but I think I watched it around 2009-2011. I believe it was Japanese but it may have been from somewhere else.
There's a woman who claims to be a psychic and works with the police to find a missing girl, but she's caught making stuff up/lying about being psychic.
There's a little girl who is kidnapped and ends up in a black box/bag in a green forest after she's killed.
Maybe the kidnapper is a woman? Who keeps the girl in her house until she accidentally is killed/dies.
Sorry for lack of info, its very vague in memory!
resolved I remember very little (solved!) Literature
I remember a book from elementary school. All I remember is that it’s about a girl who lives in a rough neighborhood. The other thing I remember is that one of the chapters is called “Under Punishment.” She gets in trouble for going to the library. Sorry it’s so vague. Edit: I found it. Its "The Gift Giver" by Joyce Hansen.
Edited by Gamergirl101resolved Beat bad guys up, use the pile of bodies to get out of the hole Videogame
Does anyone know the name of an independent PC videogame, probably from around 2005-2015, with this mechanic?
The game's a Low-polygon 3D Beat 'em Up with no plot or real setting. Characters are composed of basic shapes like cubes and octahedrons. From what I remember, the only difference between the player character and the enemies was the character color. The player starts out in a hole a few cubes deep, and enemies keep jumping in. Once you beat an enemy, his body falls apart and becomes part of the terrain. Beat enough enemies and you'll have enough bodies to climb out of the hole. After beating a level, you move on to a wider, deeper hole. I never got to the end, and for all I know, new levels can keep generating randomly forever.
Edited by Mac_Rresolved Shmup game Videogame
It was available on the Xbox 360, had a Latin name, a red rose(?) logo with red text on a white background and was 2.5D.
resolved I played a Timon and Pumbaa game on an airplane ride Videogame
As in, this game was available in the built-in screen on the back of the seat in front of mine, and there was likely a remote control of sorts to control it, there are films, games and other sorts of entertainment on it. I forget what airline this was, but in years I'd estimate 2008 - 2014? (That's about the time I was flying most often anyway.)
This game features Timon and Pumbaa, where you control the latter to move left and right on the ground as objects (mostly food) falls from the trees above (I believe it was Timon that was shaking the trees to do this?). One inedible object (that would knock out or weaken Pumbaa for a bit if it hits him) was a wooden sink of all things.
One prominent game mechanic made use of Pumbaa's farts. I forget if it's a charged ability that requires hold and release or a meter that accumulates the more he eats, but sending green fart clouds upwards can knock out bugs that would otherwise hurt him when they fall. Bigger fart cloud = wider knockout area.
Edited by BlackFaithStarresolved Point and Click adventure game with lots of references Videogame
It was a point and click adventure where you played as a skeletal kid who had died because your friend accidentally gave you plums(?) which you were deathly allergic to and your goal was to find your friend before halloween ended. It took place on the day and night of halloween and a few big youtubers played it.
resolved [Solved] Short story (possibly by Edgar Poe) Christmas(?) dinner with host's skeleton Literature
I'm looking for a story which I think I found in an Edgar Poe anthology. A rich man had died, and had written in his will that every Christmas (I think) he would host a dinner for like the ten poorest people. His skeleton was always put in the presiding seat of the table.
One of the guests happens to be a rich businessman, but he's considered the poorest of all once it's explained he's utterly unable to feel any emotion.
Edited by Medinocresolved A native american myth about a boy whose uncles were kidnapped by a witch Literature
I remember an example of And I Must Scream on this site regarding a Lakota mythology story about A boy whose uncles were all kidnapped by a witch and dehydrated. As the vapors entered their bodies, they were restored.
Can any one tell me the name of this myth/story?
resolved Sitcom about a son and his estranged father Live Action TV
OK, I'm looking for an old, pretty obscure TV Sitcom, from the late 1980s or early 1990s. Probably from the US, but maybe some other Anglo country (Canada, Australia? Not sure.) It's about an estranged son returning (after years, or even decades, it seems) to his old father. The father is a Deadpan Snarker if there is one, and probably a widower, I'm not sure because I only know the trailer and some small bits I saw while zapping.
The son looks a bit like Emilio Estevez (not the one of today, but at that time), and the father reminds me a bit of Martin from Frasier, but I'm sure the series is not Frasier.
Anyway, the series starts about like this: The son (short brown hair) is standing in the door of the father's house and wants to come in, and the father (full grey or white hair, no glasses) isn't pleased. (The dialogue is paraphrased, because I only know the German dub.)
- Son: "Hi!"Father: (forgot)Son: "Don't you know me anymore?"Father: (forgot, but answers in the negative)Son: "But I'm your son, <name>!" (I think he was named George, or Martin.)Father: "So what?"Son: "Can't you let me in?"Father: "Why should I?"Son: "But I've got something to tell you!"Father: "What is it?"Son: "I'm freezing!"Father: "That's all?"
Then, I remember a different scene from the first or second episode. Apparently, the father did let the son in (of course, otherwise this would be a very short series). An older woman (the housekeeper, I guess) is shocked and tells the father that she saw a naked man in the bathroom (guess whom). To which the father only reacts like "Then you saw more from him than I did."
Anybody knows this TV show? It ran on the ARD station, in the Vorabendprogramm (18-20 o'clock).
Edited by Frank75resolved 2000s-2010s fantasy series Literature
A book I read in elementary school, the first in a series. The cover shows a girl with a brown braid looking down at a glowing green stone in her hand. I distinctly remember in the book she describes herself as having "knobby knees".
resolved Fantasy adventure story from a textbook Literature
i keep remembering this one story (or was it a scriptplay?) that was featured in one of my school's ELA textbooks, but the name of it is on the tip of my tongue and it's driving me nuts.
the important details i remember:
- the protagonist is a young boy, 10-13 years old i think. the story starts with him in his bedroom, complaining about being bored.
- the boy then encounters a clock-faced dog, who (along with another gentleman character who's shown with them) go on a long sprawling adventure
- the fantasy world conflict is about a rift between the kingdoms of Mathematics and Literature(? it's probably not named Literature but the kingdom name was distinctly reading based).
- aside from the two kingdoms there's also the Doldrums, a land so concentratedly standstill and boring that its citizens nap after every small activity (like taking a single step) and everyone there is described as always sleepy and lazy
- the people in the kingdoms actually feast on numbers and words, the protagonists get invited to a royal event that serves them all kinds of word/number food (words were described as bread/pastry like, while the numbers were glittering and basically rare delicacies)
i'm probably missing so many other important plot beats, but this is everything i can still remember about a book i read in my middle school English textbook.

Anyone remember a semi-educational show?
It was shown on Discovery Channel, about some guys analyzing two different animals each episode, then building mechanical versions to and at the end there was a CGI scene showing which one would win.
