resolved Puppet Airship Live Action TV
I seem to recall a show (possibly educational) about these puppet animals who lived on an airship.
There were transition scenes where I saw the airship rendered in CGI.
resolved Two TV Shows I Can't Remember which keep on bugging me for ages Live Action TV
I am looking for two shows that I remember watching when I was very young, but I can't remember what they are for the life of me.
1) A classic TV sitcom (sometime between the 1960s and late 1980s) with one episode having a scene in which a woman dressed in a blue dress and a bonnet falls in water whether by falling or being pushed into the water from a fight with another person indoors at a mall or at a party somewhere. Also, I think she may have fallen into a shallow fountain.
2) An early 2000s (short-lived, I think) children's TV show somewhat similar to Sesame Street (I think it was on either PBS, Nickelodeon, etc.) with puppets (both hand puppets and life-size walkaround puppets) and 2D animation. One episode includes kids (in either P Js or regular clothes) dance-sitting holding a toy (either teddy bears or a boat) in a classroom in front of a blue tarp or sheet held on by two of the mentioned "life-size walkaround puppets". NOTE: the whole song is played the first time; the second time is the same thing, but the video quickly fades to black and the credits roll while the song is still playing.
I have been searching for these topics for my entire life, and I still can not find anything. I remember watching them when I was in Gadsden. This is bugging me ever since, and I want to know what these two shows are.
Edited by bradleyangle@129resolved Superman spoof from the 70's Live Action TV
Hello tropers !
I am currently looking for a TV show (it might actually have been an film, but I'm not sure) I watched (on rerun) when I was young.
It might have been from the 70's, and I think the whole point of the show was a superman spoof.
I remember a scene from an episode where the backstory is about a pet bird that somehow acquired a super strenght.
The dialog goes like this :
Policeman [pointing to the sky] : It's a bird! No, it's a plane! No...
Spoof Superman [handing a birdcage with the bars damaged] : No, it's a bird!
Does any of this ring a bell? Thank you!
Edited by Fauvelusresolved Fighting Animals Live Action TV
Anyone remember a semi-educational show?
It was shown on Discovery Channel, about some guys analyzing two different animals each episode, then building mechanical versions to and at the end there was a CGI scene showing which one would win.
Edited by ElBuenCuateresolved Sitcom about a son and his estranged father Live Action TV
OK, I'm looking for an old, pretty obscure TV Sitcom, from the late 1980s or early 1990s. Probably from the US, but maybe some other Anglo country (Canada, Australia? Not sure.) It's about an estranged son returning (after years, or even decades, it seems) to his old father. The father is a Deadpan Snarker if there is one, and probably a widower, I'm not sure because I only know the trailer and some small bits I saw while zapping.
The son looks a bit like Emilio Estevez (not the one of today, but at that time), and the father reminds me a bit of Martin from Frasier, but I'm sure the series is not Frasier.
Anyway, the series starts about like this: The son (short brown hair) is standing in the door of the father's house and wants to come in, and the father (full grey or white hair, no glasses) isn't pleased. (The dialogue is paraphrased, because I only know the German dub.)
- Son: "Hi!"Father: (forgot)Son: "Don't you know me anymore?"Father: (forgot, but answers in the negative)Son: "But I'm your son, <name>!" (I think he was named George, or Martin.)Father: "So what?"Son: "Can't you let me in?"Father: "Why should I?"Son: "But I've got something to tell you!"Father: "What is it?"Son: "I'm freezing!"Father: "That's all?"
Then, I remember a different scene from the first or second episode. Apparently, the father did let the son in (of course, otherwise this would be a very short series). An older woman (the housekeeper, I guess) is shocked and tells the father that she saw a naked man in the bathroom (guess whom). To which the father only reacts like "Then you saw more from him than I did."
Anybody knows this TV show? It ran on the ARD station, in the Vorabendprogramm (18-20 o'clock).
Edited by Frank75resolved Gumball-esc Puppet Show (Found!) Live Action TV
There was this one show I'm trying to remember that was once on Netflix back when it was still on the Wii. It was about this puppet kid trio (a black male who was the main character, a white female who either had a rabbit hood like Louise from Bob's Burgers or was voiced by the same person as Louise, & a white male that I know for sure had no visible mouth or pupils due to his clothing & glasses) who discover weird & paranormal things in their school every episode such as a gun that would swap over attributes of two items (Such as making orange bananas & yellow oranges), a golem made out of tables & chairs from the teachers lounge, or what I remember the most was a time machine in a hidden part of the school, one where you have to move a crank in order to push time by a small margarine.
Edited by BagelDemonresolved TV show about Human looking robot from the 80s and/or early 90s Live Action TV
As a child back in the mid-nineties, I can recall seeing an episode of a TV Show originally on the air (I believe either 80s or early 90s) about a robot that resembled an average human. The robot in question was played by an adolescent man (so no, this isn't Small Wonders). I can recall one moment in the episode in which the robot was trying to go through a metal detector, but obviously being made of metal, he kept making it go off. The robot even went down to his boxers and set it off and by that point the security guards assumed something was wrong with the metal detector and let him go.
Anyone know the title of the show?
resolved Scenes from a Disney (?) SF series/television film (early 90') Live Action TV
A few scenes I believe belongs to the same work :
- A scene in the begining : In the near future, great cities are subjected to bouts of acid rain. There is public announcement when a shower is coming for bystanders to take cover. Our hero (a twenty-something young boy) has his "Save the cat" moment by helping an elderly woman trapped under the rain, and taking her to a shelter.
- The hero, among other people embarks on a vast spacecraft/ space platform. An automated sondtrack informs the newcomers there is a "multiconfessionnal chapel" aboard. (We don't get to actually see it, I think).
- The spacecraft/platform is attacked. An eccentric handyman propose to build a cannon. "A Cannon? This prehistoric weapon?!" utters the hero. (They build it eventually).
Does any of this ring a bell ? Thank you.
resolved An episode when a guy brings a woman to a RPG game as part of a date Live Action TV
I remember an episode of a TV show from the 2000s or late 90s about this woman who goes out with handsome guy and at the end he brings her to a group playing a tabletop RPG game like Dungeons & Dragons or some sort of similar stand in. The guy wears a cape and I think a pointy wizard cap and the other players are all your stereotypical fat nerdy types.
The woman is horrified about being there with nerds so she calls up her friend and her friend says her son plays it and the game only finishes when the in-game characters die. So she tries to get her character killed by attacking another player's character. A different player tries to save the other and after a dice roll the different player's character is decapitated and the head rolls into a lake.
Don't know the origin but I'm guessing American.
Edited by jormis29resolved Man turns into baby cartoon (still unsolved) Live Action TV
I thought it was a Betty Boop cartoon, but perhaps I am wrong. It was colorized, but was around that same era. All I remember is a quick gag, in which a snobby, gruff older man at least in his 50s to 60s is seen in a mall (an escalator is behind him, I think), does something embarrassing and he metaphorically turns into a baby or small toddler. We see faces (just faces) of some people gathering around nowhere as they laugh (a quick get together just for a brief moment). He does not turn back, I think the short just ended there. I looked up the tropes, Circle of Shame and Freelance Shame Squad, even baby transformation tropes, but found nothing. Can anyone please help? Thank you. I know I did not imagine this. It is not a Popeye cartoon.
Edited: I found it, it was actually a Little Lulu episode, thank you to those who helped!
Edited by thestormtrooperresolved James Bond expy with visual transmitting contact lenses Live Action TV
I remember a series about a James Bond expy who wore special contact lenses. These transmitted everything he sees to his Mission Control partner - a somewhat nerdy computer guy, who in turn gives him advice on how to proceed.
resolved Animated show race cars with morals for kids (still unsolved!) Live Action TV
I apologize first off, I asked about this a few times before, but I have not asked questions for quite a while here. I am searching for this television series, which I saw around 2005-2006 on TV, I cannot remember what channel, but I live in the US. It was not English (probably Spanish or French) and it was definitely not the Cars movie (I saw Cars), though it was circa around the same year approximately. All I remember of the plot is a racing car, I do not know what models any of the cars were, so I apologize in advance regarding that, but these cars were racing, so I am guessing different types of ideal race cars.
The main car for some reason annoyed the other cars, I do not think he was a bully or anything, maybe a showoff though. At the end, he screamed for help, I think he drove over a "road end" cliff or a just a ditch, as he screamed for help, the other cars stopped, and thinking about how negatively they reacted towards him. They decided to go and assist. They formed a chain and pulled him up, the first car using their front bumper. It was either a show about morals or just had lessons per episode. The ending credits showed the white and black race line.
I know this is not much to go on, but can anyone please help me? Any help would truly be appreciated. I have searched on this for years, but found nothing. This could be Real City Heroes (RHC), but none of the episodes seem familiar to me. Thank you in advance.
Note - just solved, thank you so much for the person who helped me, just had to find the correct episode! Thanks millions!
Edited by thestormtrooperresolved TV show and episode name Live Action TV
There's this TV show and an episode that I'd like to know, it was in the '90s. I only remember a teen boy and a teen girl (blonde hair) at school. They both agreed that the boy will take a picture of the girl naked in the boy's shower room. After taking the picture, they heard someone coming and ran. The girl hid a boy's locker. The gym coach (black guy) entered the scene and the teen boy tried to play innocent. The coach didn't notice the girl inside the locker. Afterward, the coach scold the teen boy for not locking his locker and closed it for him. After the coach left, the panicked boy say he'll try to find a way to open it and ran. The teen girl was obviously not pleased.
That's all I remembered. Any ideas? Thank you all!
resolved Mockumentary about pretentious photographer Live Action TV
I saw a british mockumentary, a comedy centered on a pretentious photographer and his younger, somewhat goth girlfriend. He's portrayed as a ridiculous loser who assumes his random pictures of trees in black and white are high art, and she's obviously dating her to piss off her parents. I remember two scenes in particular:
- The girlfriend is going on a nihilistic rant about how people are sheep, and she lights a cigarette to look cooler, but she misses the tip with the lighter and "smokes" the unlit cigarette, until the cameraman says the cigarette is unlit, she gets mad and tries to light it again - burning half the cigarette off.
- The photographer shows some of his pictures to a critic (or gallery owner) and the critic, while very polite, trashes him - he says "I think you're using words you don't understand" and "this pictures have absolutely no meaning".
resolved Characters stuck Live Action TV
Are there any TV shows/movies/cartoons with a character stuck in a bathroom stall? I'm thinking if a scene and it's all I can remember.
resolved Specific Doctor Who episode - Mandela effect Live Action TV
In which episode of Doctor Who did the Doctor tell Amy about the Mandela effect? He didn't call it that, but he talked about how people sometimes have memories that don't match up with reality. I'd like to get that quote.
resolved Series from the 70's about a family who traveled back to prehistory Live Action TV
This series was aired around the 1970'a (at least in Brazil). It featured a family who somehow traveled back in time to the stone age, and had to survive against the odds. They live in a house with a rolling stone as a door, and the father usually had a solution to the problems.
Edited by good-morningresolved 2000s or earlier sci-fi/horror/mystery live-action show where unexplained phenomena mutates plants Live Action TV
The show takes place in modern times. One night, some kind of weird unexplained phenomena happens a-la Roadside Picnic. The rest of the show is about discovering its effects and figuring out what it was. Things I remember:
- The phenomena was some weird glowing flying geometric shapes and some kind of sound. (I'm not 100% sure on that, actually. I might be mixing this up with some other media.)
- One of its effects was Body Horror-esque mutated plants. I think I remember the characters looking at vegetables in someone's garden and it had like... teeth or something.
- I also remember that the people living there were affected too, but I don't think they were mutated physically. I think they were either driven insane or mind-controlled.
- The phenomena might've been caused by aliens. Or it might've been just a theory the characters were throwing around in-universe. I honestly don't remember.
- I feel like the show ended very abruptly, so it might've been canceled early. (Or maybe the rest just wasn't aired in my country.)

Saw an episode of what looked like an American series about the late 90s/2000s
- I think most of the cast were black
- There was this news report about an athlete getting a huge salary and some lady says that teachers should be paid that sort of money
- This teacher has a nap and dreams about a world where teachers are treated like sports stars - complete with NFL style commentators for their classes and slow motion replay when they draw on the screen
- He was teaching something like snails or something and he fakes eating it then the there was a replay showing how he palmed it
- He was considering getting a new contract for a whole heap more money this little girl tries to give her meagre savings to get him to stay
