resolved European movie parodied by "Marge vs the Monorail" (SOLVED) Film
In "The Simpsons S4 E12 "Marge vs. the Monorail"", Marge visits North Haverbrook and finds a creepy scientist type called Sebastian Cobb. The character design, accent and personality are apparently a parody of a character from a feature taking place in Europe, where he also has to be taken on a trip, except across multiple countries.
Does anyone know what movie it is? It's probably an Art Film from the seventies, and has a painfully long running time. I'm not sure if the movie is actually an European production, or just takes place in Europe.
Edited by Mac_Rresolved Movie... Film
I remember seeing a trailer for an (chinese?) fantasy action movie. I think it contained magic.
What was most notable, is that multiple characters, who have been captured by the opposing side, have been bound by the wrists and suspended in the air.
Does anyone have a clue?
Edited by Astiresolved heartwarming movie Film
I'm looking for a movie where the main characters are an older man and a young man, probably late teens. the younger man has some problems and bonds with the older man. I think it's a pretty well known movie but I completely forgot what it's called
resolved Film about serial killer killing people to form a human-sized "doll" with their parts Film
I'm looking for a film from some 20 years ago (ca. 2003-2004). The main villain was a university professor who killed women for their body parts: the first, I think, was an opera singer for her arms, and her body was put on display in her office; the second was a psychiatrist or doctor who invited the villain for dinner, was drugged, has her legs cut off and her body was put on display on the beach; the third victim was male, and, IIRC, the villain's childhood friend who was bald and hospitalized; the fourth victim the killer chose was one of his students for her torso, but he accidentally scares her she hurts her belly on the stairs from her university. The college student begins something of a romantic atraction with the black-haired detective. In the final confrontation, the villain has kidnapped the college student and the detective tosses the villain and the human "doll" from the window into the sea.
If memory serves, the opening credits say the film was based on, I think, a novel titled Il Impalatore or something.
I think it was a European movie, maybe British, French, Spanish or Italian. It's not too "American Horror"-gory.
EDIT: The killer replaces the body parts with mannequin parts.
Edited by KHR-FolkMythresolved Woman with huge blond wig and rhinestone gun Film
I don't actually know whether this is from a film or a TV show, but there's a reaction image I see a lot featuring a white woman with a huge semicircular blonde wig with barrettes, a hot pink blazer with a blue bow on one lapel, and a gun covered in pink rhinestones. What's it from?
EDIT — never mind, I should have guessed it's from RuPaul's Drag Race. Thanks anyway!
Edited by higgledypiggledyresolved Dark comedy/thriller(?): pregnant twin sisters, religious father tries to kill their boyfriends Film
Hi, everyone! I’m trying to identify a movie I watched a long time ago on Fox (possibly late 90s or early 2000s). I don’t remember the title or the actors and details about the plot are a bit fuzzy in my head, but maybe someone here can help me.
I'm almost positive it was an american movie, maybe an indie/television film. The movie starts off as something of a comedy or dramedy, but I remember it turning increasingly darker and more violent toward the end.
Here's what I remember about the plot:
It’s set in a small town or rural area.
The plot involves two guys who supposedly got twin sisters pregnant. In truth, only one of the girls is actually pregnant — the other one lies about it to convince her boyfriend to marry her. The girls' plan is for both of them to marry their respective boyfriends at the same time.
The girls' father is a big, balding, strict and very religious man, obsessed with chastity and morality. He either invites or forces the guys to live in his house and keeps a close eye on them. He repeatedly calls the guys "fornicators" (or something to that effect) when he's mad and he is constantly suspicious they're sleeping with his daughters. I remember a scene in which the father literally bursts through a wall with his head trying to catch one of them in the act—although it's a misunderstanding.
Eventually, the girl who’s truly pregnant loses the baby - I don’t remember if it's a spontaneous miscarriage or if it happens as a result of an accident, but it's a somewhat intense scene.
As the movie progresses, their father becomes more unhinged and violent, and eventually tries to kill the guys. It seemed like an almost Genre Shift altogether, in which their father stops at nothing until he kills both men.
I have this vague idea that, by the end, the father eventually gets killed either by both guys or by accident and they escape without the girls.
And that's all I remember from this (weird) plot. I appreciate any help.
Edited by VicShooterresolved Circus Movie Film
The only that I remember of this movie is that teenage boy finds himself in a Circus/Freakshow place, I don't know if he has some powers like the other characters. Sorry if it is vague, but that's all I got.
resolved Movie they aired on Cartoon Network Once! Film
When Cartoon Network started showing a weekly movie, this might have been the 2nd one, and they never showed it again. It stared an orange shapeshifter that defaulted to a bipedal dog with glass and a mute guy dressed like Charlie Chatlen.
The cast also included a fairy godmother, an evil robot army, and a dumb blond superhero.
resolved Bank robbery + RomCom + suicidal pact Film
Searching for this one for quite a while, so let's do a quick list of what I remember from the technical details:
- Made anywhere between 1995 to 2007
- English language (definitely not British, I'm almost certain it was either American or Canadian, but that the furthest I can narrow it down)
- <120 min running time
- Might be a TV movie (which would explain why I can't find it)
- Has an important gimmick of being told in Anachronic Order (not exactly backwards, but almost)
Plot synopsis:
- He is about to rob a bank
- She is depressed and suicidal
- He takes her hostage, she doesn't mind
- Eventually they strike a pact: she works for him as a meat shield and reason why police won't kill him during his escape, and then he will blow her head off to fulfill her desire to die
- Unsurprisingly, they instead fall for each other while he's on the run from law
resolved Veggie Tales movie with pirates that starts with car crash thing? Film
I swear I watched this movie as a kid and want to figure out what the heck I watched, and if it really was all the same movie. It was a veggie tales movie, it started with them driving in a forest and having a sort of car crash but nothing really happens beyond someone(I am pretty sure the tomato guy) getting hit by a airbag and the car stopping. And then they go to some building(might have been a restaurant, but not fully sure). And then there was a bunch of stuff with pirates for some reason. The animation, and especially the lighting, was higher quality than is usual for veggie tales. I watched it repeatedly around 2016 or 2017.
resolved 80s movie with Santa having a broken foot Film
I havn't been able to locate this movie. I know is 80s or early 90s at most. It has an American family in what I think was Denmark finding that Santa Claus lives there (yes, not in the North Pole, he explains himself it was too cold) and how he wasn't going to be delivering gifts that they for having a broken foot. I remember he at one point changes dresses showing the different versions of Santa all over the world. Then it turns out he was faking the injure because he wanted to expend at least one Xmas nights in his house but is convince otherwise at the end of the movie.
resolved Recent horror film Film
I think it was released in 2020 or thereabouts. The film itself has some young adults play some sort of trendy mystery game that is also the title of the film, but then the lights go off for a bit and someone winds up dead, and they all start killing each other. The big twist is that the victim, whose name I think is David, actually killed himself while trying to do something stupid with a sword for his Instagram, and they were killing each other for nothing. The main character's name may be Bea, and I think she has some issues with the rest of the cast because they're richer than she is.
resolved 1970s/80s British action film Film
70s/80s action film involving a group of terrorists taking over an oil platform. main character is the leader of a group of commandos who have to retake said platform.
one of the opening scenes is main character in a motorboat driving through a lake, tossing hand grenades in for some reason.
at one point the main character goes on platform in disguise as naval officer to negotiate with terrorists.
resolved Guy willingly undergoes clinical death to hunt down ghostly homicidal maniac. Film
There was this black comedy slasher movie where a homicidal maniac's ghost kept murder people after his death. The protagonist in order to stop him willingly enters a freezer to enter a state of clinical death / out-of-body experience, in which state he can actually combat the maniac. The film ends with both the protag and the maniac, including the maniac's equally ax-crazy girlfriend and the protag's dead best friend in a cloudy tunnel to heaven, which then turns into a gruesome fleshy thing which takes the bad guys to Hell.
resolved 2000s comedy film Film
a comedy film about four guys helping a young boy who's getting bullied?
all I really remember is that the climax is a big fantasy/medieval re-enactment/fight thing where the four guys dress up as the band Kiss and fight the main antagonist
resolved [solved] World War 2 movie = Film.TheLongestDay Film
This is a World War 2 movie about paratroopers dropped behind Nazi lines in advance of D-Day. Since it's a nighttime drop, there's a danger of friendly fire. Therefore, each man is issued a clicker for Friend Or Foe identifying. One click-clack to query, two click-clacks to respond. One paratrooper hears someone coming and takes cover. He then gives the click-clack query, and gets the two click-clack response. Once this man emerges from cover, he discovers too late it's a Nazi soldier with a bolt-action rifle. The first click-clack jettisons a spent cartridge, the second click-clack chambers a fresh round. This may be a monochrome film, though I saw it on my old b+w TV set.
Edited by oneuglybunnyresolved Movie about stroke victim Film
I remember as a kid seeing a movie about a stroke victim. There's an early scene where a young guy in his 20s is at a gym and suddenly can't pick up a dumbbell. He stumbles around a bit before collapsing. Someone calls 911 and as the guy is wheeled away on a gurney he starts vomiting. Later in the movie after he's recovered, he's in a college class but his brain is still a bit screwy so he can't focus, so he packs up his stuff and leaves.
resolved Help identifiying a 2000s-2010s film Film
I remember a film from around the time of the late-2000s/early-2010s involving the misadventures of a guy who specialized in making dioramas with mouse figurines (or taxidermed mice). I remember the opening sequence involving him making those dioramas while a Beatles-ish song played, and one scene wherein a lady was attacking the guy's vehicle with a hammer.
Any idea as to what film I'm talking about?
Edited by DongwaChanresolved Fever dream soviet-russian(?) movie Film
I remember watching it a couple times; it's, as far as I know, only in Russian, so I don't know if anyone here has even heard of it but it's worth a shot. It had some guitarist guy get transported (I don't remember how) onto some barren desert planet. He finds (two?) other guys who have some kind of flying machine that is essentially a porta-potty-sized giant tin can with helicopter blades on top. All sorts of weird stuff happens along the way, including our main guy getting abandoned and taken back by the other two, some underground industrial complex being found, and other weird fever-dream-esque shenanagins.
The main guy later comes back home (just normal real life) and I think at the end finds one of the guys from said deserted planet? I'm not sure on that detail as I could be remembering it from another movie. One of the (many) main details that makes the movie unique that I remember is that on the planet it was customary to do some weird 'crouch, slap your knees(?), and make a sound' move as a greeting or something? Again, the whole movie feels like a fever dream. Also, the movies was made around when the Soviet Union collapsed, either a bit before or after, can't remember.
I'll honestly be surprised if anyone else knows what I'm talking about, but hey, ya never know.

I remember very little about this film, but I think I watched it around 2009-2011. I believe it was Japanese but it may have been from somewhere else.
There's a woman who claims to be a psychic and works with the police to find a missing girl, but she's caught making stuff up/lying about being psychic.
There's a little girl who is kidnapped and ends up in a black box/bag in a green forest after she's killed.
Maybe the kidnapper is a woman? Who keeps the girl in her house until she accidentally is killed/dies.
Sorry for lack of info, its very vague in memory!
