openDeconstructive fantasy? Film
I vaguely remember finding this fantasy film on the website years ago, and I'm trying to find it again. The most I remember is the general plot, the Twist Ending (female warrior has a pet baby dragon that gets kidnapped by an adult dragon, finds and slays the adult dragon only to realize too late it was her dragon all grown up and she spent years on this quest), and that it might've been animated.
openWeird educational video involving an alien ship.
I remember 10-12 years ago watching an educational video in class back in school (2nd-4th grade). The video had a short segment involving kids on what I think was a picnic, before an alien ship came and sucked up all the water from the lakes. I think the kids then transformed very thin. There was more to it, but this scene was all I know about now.
It might've just been a weird dream though, since the information on this is rather spotty in my head.
Edited by callmeamuffinopenMovie where a character commits suicide Film
Trying to find a film but I only remember one scene from it.
The main character (a teenage boy, I think) is speaking to an older male friend. The male friend gifts him a scarf in what is clearly a goodbye gift right before he commits suicide.
This might have been a made for TV movie, but I don't recall anything else about it.
openBook I read Literature
A teen book with a Mexican girl. Her parents did upholstery, and her dad was named Ernesto.
openVague Memories of a Show Film
Hi! I was directed here by a friend because I haven't been able to figure out what movie this was. My brain associates it with shark boy and lava girl but its not the same, maybe it has some similar actors? If it helps, this movie was something I watched when I was a kid, 16-18 years ago.
Basically, a young boy and his grandpa are wearing these suits(?), and they have their lives displayed on the suits..? Im not sure why they were there, but there was some girl as well and a mean-ish boy they meet, and they have to complete these tasks in this weird space/video game adjacent world, where they die and turn into these dust/pixels, and if they have lives they come back obviously.
I remember the grandpa dies and its like, really sad, and the boy has to continue without him. the older ish teenage girl drags him along basically. Maybe there was a giant robot thing they had to fight? I vaguely remember there were these platforms that would appear in front of them as they jumped like it would in a video game, and there was some big bad with a plot twist. I dunno if they were like trapped in a game or what.
I appreciate the help!
openShorts Three-Fer
I admit I had something regarding three shorts I saw as a kid on the same TV channel (the channel being literally called "Shorts") that I can't remember the names of.
- One animated about a young shepherdess trying to impress a boy (i vividly remember a small bit in the beginning with her delivering a lamb in very graphic detail)
- Another animated short about these sapient germs/microbes, the climax having them getting massacred by a cleaning machine or something, the ending I think had at least the lead character plotting revenge. (I'm sure the title was something among the lines of "___ Germs")
- A live-action short about a boy growing up claiming to be god, and with some miracles happening it miiiight be true before as an adult he mysteriously disappears one night (implicitly ascending to the heavens)
Anyone know the titles to these? I've been meaning to find them.
Edited by RedBerryBlueCherryopenVideo and Arcade Top 10 Videogame
In the 90s, there was a show called Video and Arcade Top 10. Among other things, it featured kids playing video games in competition. This is the show's first intro.
I can make out four games, but am having trouble identifying them. The first one I know is Ski or Die. The second looks like a fight from Base Wars, because the characters line up, but the background looks weird. A third game is about a guy on roller skates, and the fourth is some type of flight sim, but not Captain Skyhawk or Top Gun. They all seem to be for the NES. Can anyone help ID'ing them all?
openTumblr Post About Specimen Tube Trope Web Original
This was a humorous post about a sci-fi trope (I don't know if it has a name). It went something like this...
"What did you do with the unknown life form?"
"It's suspended in a vertical tube of translucent blue liquid."
"Are there bubbles in the liquid?"
"Yeah, every couple minutes a bunch of bubbles rise to the top."
"How's the lighting?"
"Well, the lab's pretty dark, but there's a bright light shining into the tube from underneath."
"Good work."
openVillage game from late 2010s (deleted?) Videogame
Hello, I remember a village game that was probably on most phone and tablet app stores back in the late 2010s. It might have been deleted, I don’t know.
It is closest to the game Virtual Villagers in its gameplay. You would try to grow this community and see it progress. The villagers were cartoony humans.
The map had a river in the upper part and land everywhere else. There was a major quest where you had to save a child that was in a basket. The child was supposed to be in the river and you had to craft a thing to help them get out.
I’m pretty sure it existed.
openHorror host who had a downloadable show on Itunes Live Action TV
He dressed like stereotypical vampire.
Most of the movies where either public domain (such as Wasp Woman, which I watched) or indie short films.
In same episode as Wasp Woman, it included a promo and clips from the Troma movie Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, also dating to 2006. He also interview someone from the film, but I don't remember who.
One other film was a short about Jack-O'-Lantern people trying to turn human into more Jack-O'-Lantern people, and a woman trying to stop them.
openMan injured in factory machine Literature
My aunt was reading it and read a bit aloud to me but that was ages ago and now we don't remember what it was and I'd love to finish it.
I think it was a short story or novella and based on the opening it seemed fairly light in tone; don't know if it stayed that way. A man fell into or got caught up in some kind of machine in a factory and got injured but, again, I remember the tone being light so maybe not too seriously injured? I think he was pursuing legal action.
open"SpongeBob SquarePants'' dubbed song Western Animation
Oh, they changed the name of You Know That Show.
Years ago, I found a dubbed version of the SpongeBob SquarePants song "This Grill is Not a Home" from the episode "Welcome to the Chum Bucket". This dubbed song is... unique in that instead of simply dubbing the song, it replaces it entirely with an incoherent collection of music and Stock Sound Effects, with the music being the stock music they use for the show. And yes, it's an official dub (or at least one that aired on television). They don't even change the visuals or anything, just the song into... whatever you call music and sounds cobbled together like that.
I don't even remember what dub it is. Can anybody find me that version of the song? Thanks.
Edited by SparkPlugTheTroperopenSuper obscure anime with monsters from the 2000s (possible lost media) Anime
This is... something, alright. Nobody I ever talked to it about knew what I was talking about, nor it seems that it was already documented here. Did I have hallucinated this? I don't know.
I remember in the year 2009 in Italy they broadcasted a Mon anime series, which unfortunately, I never memorized the name. I'm pretty sure it was an anime and not just an Animesque cartoon, because it had that style typical of the Turn Of The Millenium animes. It had at least an Italian dub.
This Mon show was very notable in that it looks like it lacked any semblance of mon-related collectibles, which implies it was NOT Merchandise-Driven, nor it seemed to have evolutions for the mons; this also means that I couldn't possibly have seen Bakugan or a Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh! series.
Other details I can give to better help identify it: The setting was mostly like our world except critters live alongside humans.
The protagonists were a quartet of kids plus the mascot mon, and pretty cliched; the protagonist was a red-headed Hot-Blooded Idiot Hero and probably an Extreme Omnivore as well; the deuteragonist was much more stoic and probaboy wore either blue or black, but also had some un-boyish hobbies; then there's the girl who was a pink-wearing tomboy; and finally the timid yellow-wearing smart guy; plus the mascot Mon who was a white-colored Cartoon Creature. I remember the five main characters bickering a lot with each other.
The main antagonists were a Terrible Trio of Green and Mean devils who were revealed to be brainwashed, but there also were a couple of GreaterScopeVillain.
I also don't remember any of the characters' names.
Some episodes I somewhat remember:
- An episode where the aloof lancer is revealed to like collecting plush toys, but his parents scold him for having such hobbies, but it's also revealed that the big guy from the Terrible Trio also collects plush toys and attempts to steal a rare plushie from the good guys;
- An episode where there's a huge monster on a rampage, and also a Mon that looked like a fire-breathing Jack-o'-lantern (one of the few "generic" Mons I remember from it);
- An episode where The Smart Guy saves the day but mistakes a boy for a girl;
- The Myth Arc and possibly the "finale arc", where the masco Mon flees, the kids try to find him with the protagonist trying to bait him out with EXPIRED snacks (that's very dumb, but one of the only scenes I remember clearly...), all the four kids touch a magic stick and get transported to a special place, where a "butler-like" Mon reveals to them that the mascot had an older brother who did an Heroic Sacrifice, using carvings in a wall to illustrate the story.
I've tried giving the most detailed account I could give at this point, and so far nobody else even had the faintest idea of what I was talking about. It could be lost forever..

In old VHS versions of Matilda, there was a trailer for a movie or show that featured an underwater monster.
Does anyone know what that movie was?
