open(SOLVED)'wine-dark sea' solo RPG Literature
Not strictly 'literature', but a singleplayer RPG paperback. Pretty old, got it from a charity shop back in 2006-2010ish.
Title: 'Over the Winedark Sea' or something similar.
Description: Cover showed a sunset over the ocean, with a classic fantasy style adventurer in the foreground, standing at the helm of a boat. A pretty large book, shaped more like a paperback textbook than a novel.
Inside: Started with character generation instructions and details on how to play the game. Unlike a ttrpg manual, this book was closer to a choose-your-own-adventure kind of thing, with longish columns of text ending in dice rolls to make, and telling you what section to turn to depending on your results. Very small print, with the occasional black-and-white illustrations of monsters, scenery, etc.
Other: I think it was part of a series- various story threads would abruptly break off, telling you to go to a certain page of a different page in an entirely other book. I don't remember the system exactly, so I don't know if this was a Wizards of the Coast product, or something more niche.
Edited by MostlyVoidopenIndie folk song about Jean Lafitte sung by a woman in the first person (solved) Music
This was something I downloaded off a probably now defunct music blog, I'm guessing this was around the mid-2000s, maybe as late as 2010. The arrangement was pretty minimal, just voice and acoustic guitar, maybe a kick drum or stomping to keep the beat. It was from the POV of the historical figure Jean Lafitte but sung by a woman, and every verse started with "my name's Jean Lafitte". The blogs writeup had some fun with it, suggesting this poor woman hit her head and became convinced she was a male 19th century French pirate.

There was this computer-animated short film I saw on You Tube of this lizard in an island or beach. One scene I remember is when the lizard was climbing up a palm tree, probably chasing this other small creature, and the creature caused a coconut to fall on the lizard. The lizard went down with the coconut and caused a crater in the sand. After some seconds, the lizard lifted the coconut in a manner similar to the alligator lifting the hippo in Fantasia. Then another coconut fell on the lizard, sending it back down.
Edited by EortizopenDemon Queen preventing husband's affairs Anime
A comedic manga about a demon queen who married the hero, but she's worried that he's going to cheat on her (doesn't seem out of the question) so she proactively goes after whatever monster girl he gets too close to.
open(Possibly made for tv) movie, kissing a frog turns it into Prince, as in the singer. Film
So this is a weird, possibly Mandela Effect thing - I was originally searching for a movie from the 80s about a kid finding a talking frog that claimed to be a cursed prince who could only be restored to human form with a kiss. I found a Wikipedia entry for the 1987 tv movie Frog, and even found someone had ripped it to YouTube - 90% of the plot matched what I remembered, except for the ending. What I remember happening was kind of a Stealth Pun where the frog turned into a short guy in a puffy shirt and purple jacket - instead of a prince, he turned into Prince (or an impersonation thereof). I even remember watching this with my mom and her explaining the joke to me. I kind of find it unlikely that I saw it with some rare alternative ending that was blocked from future airings by Prince's lawyers or something... so the alternative is there was maybe some other live action, kid-friendly modernized take on The Frog Prince from the mid-to-late 80s that used this Parental Bonus joke, and I'm conflating two different works in my mind.

openDanish Pirate/Angel Movie Film
Okay this one's going to sound like I'm making it up, but I swear I'm not. So there was this Scandinavian movie (I'm guessing danish but I could be mistaken) about pirates and angels. Basically in Heaven there's this giant globe of the world, where angels are able to look down on humanity, and also an octopus in a bubble of water that either controls time or something important. Basically due to wacky circumstances, a group of pirates end up in Heaven and steal the octopus, which causes the earth to freeze in an endless two second loop. So an angel and another pirate team up to find the octopus and sent things right. Also they find a girl, whom they free from the time loop, who also likes pirates and ends up having a father/daughter like relationship with the main pirate who teachers her to swim.
open(SOLVED!) 1930s cartoon with mouse Western Animation
Today, I got an advertisement for a Chromebook https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivbeYOD3qHk
At the three second mark, it shows what appears to be a clip from a old 1930s cartoon with a mouse opening a jack-in-the-box.
The cartoon is probably Public Domain, as I found an image that looks to be from this cartoon on Getty Images.
For a more specific date, I would put 1935–1938.
Does anyone know what this clip is from or what studio made it?
The 'toon is Ye Olde Swap Shoppe (1940).
Edited by DoomesPro93openTeam Smithereen Western Animation
Do you guys remember that one short series called “Team Smithereen” on Disney XD? Y’know where we see the characters do crazy stunts and end up getting hurt and gives a thumbs up at the end of each episode? Its premise is quite similar to the most popular series jackass?

openNorwegian Political Cartoon With A Power Pylon Print Comic
So, someone commented this on a video of Manly Badass Hero's playthrough of Pylons: "This remind [sic] me of a satirical cartoon in a newspaper here in Norway several years back. It was about the controversial decision to build some giant power pylons, and depicted one of our polititians [sic] as a power pylon following another polititian [sic]." Does anyone know what they're talking about?
openTwo Games Where The Protagonist Is A Candle Videogame
So, I'm looking for two different games where the Player Character is an Animate Inanimate Object candle.
1. (SOLVED) This is from a Youtube comment: "This kinda reminds me of that game where you're a candle and you're running through and hiding in the dark, hiding from the light that is produced by lightbulbs." (Whoops, this one actually WAS Candleman, the lightbulbs are from a later level that wasn't visible in the trailer for it.)
2. This is something I saw a while ago. It's a 2D platformer where the background is purple. It generally gives off a "mystical" vibe. I believe it was from one of Game Makers Toolkit's game jams, and if it isn't he must've just used gameplay footage from it in one of his videos. The video couldn't have been any more recent than this March (March 2022, for those reading in 2023 or beyond.) Edit: It wasn't from a Jam. He must've just used game footage in one of his videos.
Right off the bat, I know these are NOT:
Wick (2020) (although for all I know one or both could be named "wick"),
Candleman
,
Candlelight
openHeadstrong African American Girl Becomes Vulnerable and Unsafe After Drug Trip?🤨 Live Action TV
I know, it sounds weird, but anyone member this one trailer that shows a girl being all headstrong and stuff and then she gets with a guy and also gets drugged by the guy and then she starts to wonder about herself like she's having an existential crisis while also being in a vulnerable state of mind that isn't quite like how she was before? Someone please tell me this exists, I am genuinely feeling weird about it😶
openAnimated short for kids Western Animation
I came in about halfway through and I haven't been able to find anything that indicates a title. What I saw was a yellow monster that looked kind of like Jake from Adventure Time (but not, obviously) staring at what looked like giant bear prints in a forest, and then it rained and the yellow monster took shelter in a hollow tree and looked really sad. Then the short switched to a pink monster that seemed to be a very young child. The pink monster went outside its home, ignoring a sign that told it not to go outside, and then explored the forest and encountered the yellow monster. The two embraced, and then the pink monster smelt smoke and looked up, only to find that the yellow monster's 'eyes' were actually its nostrils. The yellow monster gave it a terrifying smile, and then the short ended. (My friend said that just after it there was some kind of quote about the benefit of obedience, but I don't remember that.)
openRecollections of a Dream. Videogame
Okay, I know I dreamt this one, however, I do have this strong feeling that said dream was based on a real game. All I can remember was that it was a platformer game that had a(n incomplete) Easter Egg were the player would have to go to random locations and do crazy stuff to manage to get a password to access a secret location, this Easter Egg might have been popular or might not.
Edited by megagutsmanopen(SOLVED) Oneshot Manga Where Guy Falls In Love With Ventilator Print Comic
I'm picking "print comic" since that's basically what manga is.
So, a comment on Pro ZD's "Tokomo Chairem" video has this to say: "funny thing is, there's this BL oneshot Manga where this guy is in love with his ventilator, it was kinda sad" Does anyone know what manga they're talking about? (Also, what does "BL" stand for?)
Solved: It's called "Hot & Cold". "Ventilator" was actually a poorly-translated way of saying "Air Conditioner"
Edited by sRAMrelevratopenA show where African tribe members live with a suburban family Live Action TV
It was a reality show where a few African tribe members are sent to live with a white American suburban family for a while. Their experiences with the family and American culture are documented and they give their opinions and feelings, etc. Both expose the other to their customs, traditions, culture, food, etc. It's one of those "both sides understand the other better at the end" sort of things.
I want to say it was on a channel like TLC, Discovery, A&E, etc. That's really all I remember. I know I liked the show and would like to watch it again if I could.
It was on sometime between 2006-2012, I believe. But I think it was only one season.
Edited by erik316wttnopenMascot Racer with cute animals Videogame
A game in the Mascot Racer genre. Way back in my memory so I may not have a clear picture, but gameplay was very Mario Kart, with wild tracks full of obstacles, and I remember the character selection screen, which featured a very repetitive banjo riff as all the characters swayed back and forth rapidly to the rhythm. They included a turtle, a tiger, and a rooster, I think.
openSeries focusing on ethical / moral decisions Live Action TV
This series came out some time in the last 2 years. It was written and presented by a comedian or similar, and it had about 6 episodes. It was Black Mirror style in that each episode was standalone - different actors etc. It explored ethical / moral ideas. One episode focused on whether a character would help a legal trial if their video evidence would be embarrassing, another had a teen pop star returning to their school.
Each episode started with a piece to camera from the writer comedian.
Can’t find it by googling, any help appreciated!

I remember reading a book back in the early/mid 2000s. It had a blue cover and dragons were involved somehow. Except there was very little to do with dragons in the book, mostly just political intrigue and a lot of sex. A passage I remember vividly has the main female character (or one of them), have sex up against a tree. She describes the tree bark scratching her and her companion's "seed" dripping down her leg
