openMovie where a character commits suicide Film
Trying to find a film but I only remember one scene from it.
The main character (a teenage boy, I think) is speaking to an older male friend. The male friend gifts him a scarf in what is clearly a goodbye gift right before he commits suicide.
This might have been a made for TV movie, but I don't recall anything else about it.
openLive-action short film about a woman who keeps ascending and can't get down Film
It had a family setting, with a daughter (I think her name was Kelly or Ellie), a father and a mother. The mother was sitting at a couch, but then when she got off of the couch, she screamed at the sight of her feet floating above the ground. They ordered firemen or something to try and push her back to the floor but it didn't work. They eventually accepted that they couldn't get her back down. So she kept ascending (I don't know if this was achieved by them pushing her upwards or if she just kept rising for some reason) and reached her husband's room were they had a romantic "dance". She decided that she wanted to go really high in the sky near the end and took some snacks and a jacket with her. She had one last call with Kelly/Ellie as a flock of birds passed her by before she ended up rising even higher and dying(?). It ended with the father and daughter talking about how they miss her.
It was from the 2010s, I think.
Edited by starlinestan101openEarly 2000's Crime Drama; Hitman Holds Shotgun in Baby's Face Film
One of many crime movies I caught on HBO 20+ years ago (wonders for a kid's psyche, btw) has this haunting scene about two-thirds in. A man, possibly a hitman, speaks with a mother at her apartment before going to a baby's room. He holds a shotgun with a silencer right in the crying infant's face in a crib, but relents from shooting the child.
I keep thinking it was Mystic River; it had the same dank, gray cinematography as a lot of post-9/11 crime dramas. I could also swear by my life that it was a De Niro move like the Insomnia remake but this was in a city.
openVineyard owning multi generation family Film
It was a tv show. The parents owned a vineyard i think, in California maybe? But they had several kids and one of the kids went into the military and ended up having drug problems. Turns out he was adopted and then him amd his adopted sister start dating? Which was weird.
openDeconstructive fantasy? Film
I vaguely remember finding this fantasy film on the website years ago, and I'm trying to find it again. The most I remember is the general plot, the Twist Ending (female warrior has a pet baby dragon that gets kidnapped by an adult dragon, finds and slays the adult dragon only to realize too late it was her dragon all grown up and she spent years on this quest), and that it might've been animated.
openWeird fantasy show Film
Like I've been trying to pinpoint this for YEARS. It was a childhood show that I watched and I'm seriously considering it to be a huge reoccurring fever dream. It's not anything like anime style but it's animaTED.
Okay, plot is four main human characters on a big floating ship, and hang in there, it has a lot of details and random arcs. For example, they fight some weird Japanese emperor in a big fancy castle thing, and then there's an evil witch lady who lives in a mushroom house, one of the main characters, her mom is dying and I think died, and one episode they turn into freaking puppets. I'm so confused and AI/media finders can't pinpoint this. It's a scratchy art style like the film 'Wolfwalkers' but it's not that obviously. Plz I will literally cry if I find this show/media 🙏
openMid-Late 60s caper movie with second identity Film
Ok, I’m getting nowhere with this on Google, and it doesn’t ring a bell with my quirky-movie fan mother, so I come to you. This was a movie that was almost certainly from the 60s. The star was a clean-cut, handsome 20-ish guy in the Redford/Bridges vein, and I believe he worked for his father in-law. His wife didn’t take him seriously, and he was clearly unhappy, so he created a second identity, a gruff tough guy with a limp, a cane, and I think a scar. He hooked up with a (French?) prostitute who essentially gave him lessons, accompanied by a clock on the wall that spun forward each session until he… finished, covering longer intervals over successive sessions until such time as his instructor… finished first, and who then didn’t want him to leave. He eventually used his second identity to rip off his boss/father-in-law, went home and swept his wife off her feet, and they all lived happily ever after. That’s what I’ve got from memories an TV viewing well over 30 years ago. Any suggestions?
Edited by dspitzleopen? Film
So there’s a series or film i can’t remember. It started with a woman and her two kids staying at her family’s large home due to her having bad mental health etc. She ends up dead as well as her 2 kids, presumed to be a murder suicide. Her parents call her husband who is staying back at home to make him aware so he drives to their house. There are suspicions it wasn’t a murder suicide and he thinks someone else killed them all. The family are looked into extensively and lots of corrupt things come out about the wife’s family. I think they had a family law firm or something of the sorts. I remember there was an affair at some point maybe between the woman’s father and a work collegue? I think it turned out it was the brother or something that killed the woman due to inheritance and stuff. I think it was British, fairly recent like in the last 5 years
openHorror movie trailer announcer Film
For about half a decade, a lot of horror movies trailers airing on U.S. television ended with a Snake (the video game character)-esque voice-over saying "[movie name]. Rated Rrrrrrr.... (he rolled the "R" for some reason, possibly to make it sound "edgier") In theaters [whatever day it was released]." It was a rinse and repeat thing, he seemed to announce every mainstream horror B-movie trailer for years on end, and yet nobody seems to know his name or have identified him.
Does anybody have any possible leads?

openVague Memories of a Show Film
Hi! I was directed here by a friend because I haven't been able to figure out what movie this was. My brain associates it with shark boy and lava girl but its not the same, maybe it has some similar actors? If it helps, this movie was something I watched when I was a kid, 16-18 years ago.
Basically, a young boy and his grandpa are wearing these suits(?), and they have their lives displayed on the suits..? Im not sure why they were there, but there was some girl as well and a mean-ish boy they meet, and they have to complete these tasks in this weird space/video game adjacent world, where they die and turn into these dust/pixels, and if they have lives they come back obviously.
I remember the grandpa dies and its like, really sad, and the boy has to continue without him. the older ish teenage girl drags him along basically. Maybe there was a giant robot thing they had to fight? I vaguely remember there were these platforms that would appear in front of them as they jumped like it would in a video game, and there was some big bad with a plot twist. I dunno if they were like trapped in a game or what.
I appreciate the help!
openBritish mystery movie about two brothers Film
This one's been bugging me for years. I get flashes of scenes after having seen the film on TV years ago.
From what I remember:
- The movie is about two brothers. The older one fancies himself to be something of a private detective and dresses the part with fedora and trench coat. The younger one is the more mature one.
- The older brother gets in some sort of trouble and goes missing or is kidnapped.
- The younger brother starts investigating and finds himself crossing paths with dangerous criminals. At one point, he's put in a tub of cement but is rescued at the last minute by police.
- In the climax, there's some sort of exchange for the older brother. Shots are fired and the older brother goes down, only for everyone to realize that he's not been hit and is OK.
I hope there's a troper out there who can piece this one together for me.
openFilm with Snake Charmer Film
I remember watching a trailer (or possibly a review or preview) in either the late 90s or the early 2000s, I don't remember much from it, but I remember two things vaguely. One being a (bearded?) Snake Charmer who gets kissed by the snake, the other being some kind of living gruel or other foodstuff or sludge. (Or maybe I'm wring and that's from a different film). I remember it being comedic. Anyone got an idea what I remember? (I don't think it's The Master of Disguise.)
openno idea, sorry Film
it was a korean series on netflix, except it had only 3 episodes and it's not in my list anymore, so i think it was removed. It had themes of suicide and mental health, which korean shows tend to do really well which is why i was intrested in it. I believe the three episodes were three seperate stories, but i may be wrong about that, sorry if it's not much, it was a while ago and i really can't remember
openOld man and his dog winning dog contests Film
So, i recently remembered a old film i watched once when i was a kid. It was a old man from a poor family who gains a big white dog. He then wins many dog contests with said dog. I think the dog's name was something like Leechan or something similar? Near the end of the movie it looks like the dog was stolen by the old man business partner, but he finds his dog again. I'm really curious about this film because looking back, it probably had some themes I didn't get yet as a kid, so i really want to rewatch it.
opengirl with breathing tube, rom-com? Film
saw bits of a movie while my sister was flicking through television channels a couple of weeks ago, and it piqued my interest. a significant character was this woman who used a breathing tube. i don’t know if that’s the proper term for it- it’s that transparent tube that’s attached to a person’s nostrils and connected to an oxygen tank. and she was significantly shorter than most of the other characters and had black hair in a somewhat messy-looking bob.
there was a scene that seemed to be a wedding, though for some reason it took place in a cramped space… a house? with a bunch of people there. the scene was very colourful. the person she was getting married to was a blonde man called arturo.
there were several scenes with this brown ( south/southeast/west asian? north african? i don’t know ) fellow who spoke with a british accent ( one of the main things that caught my attention- he sounded like an actor i like, though he most certainly WASN’T played by that actor because that actor is white. ) he seemed to be quite close with the woman, and i remember him having a short exchange with her before she went on to say her vows. and there was an earlier scene where he was talking to his mother about a woman who may or may not have been that woman.
and… that’s all i remember. :p
openHorror movie Film
I'm trying to find a horror movie my dad was watching on TV years ago. It had a lady standing at the top of the stairs standing still, and a younger lady washing her face with a sponge.
openThe Magic Unicorn (?) Film
I was reminded recently of a movie called The Last Unicorn, which in turn reminded me of a VHS tape my sister had. Probably a mockbuster of The Last Unicorn, maybe called The Magic Unicorn.
The bizarre think about this movie is that it didn't match the VHS box art. The box art looked contemporary, while the film itself looked like it was animation from the 40s (by my estimation as a child.)
So perhaps it was less of a mockbuster and was just an opportunistic rerelease.
And the unicorn in the movie was white, while the unicorn on the box was pink, or vice versa.
It was an Aladin type story about a pauper wooing a princess with the help of a magical being.
I only remember one scene where the pauper had to bathe in a cauldron of boiling water, either as punishment or to prove something, I don't remember why. The unicorn turned the water tepid. But weirdly, it also turned the water rainbow-coloured, which no one somehow noticed.
This would've been the late 80s or early 90s.

So this is gonna be one of those cases where I remember the Show Within a Show but not the film itself.
Some students (probably in high school or college) were watching a black and white film, in French or Spanish. A guy is having a chess match and a conversation with a child. After he makes his move, the the child makes his final move and wins, saying "Checkmate, bitch." in the subtitles. The subtitles themselves are delayed by one word after the other.
I remember this gag, but nothing else about the film.
