openKids book -- selfish, sentient ice cube that wants to be an iceberg
It's a children's picture book, in which a walking, talking ice cube jumps out of the freezer and decides to run away to sea to become an iceberg.
On the way, he meets several characters, including a mouse who wants him to soothe her tail because she got it caught in a mousetrap, but he refuses because he just wants to get to the ocean fast.
However, when he gets in trouble himself, the people he met on the way refuse to help him because he was selfish and didn't help them.
openBear attacks a couple Film
My girlfriend described a movie to me where a couple goes hiking and the guy goes off alone to prove himself and there’s a bear attack. It really messed her up and she finds bears creepy now.
openlost hope Film
It was a movie and i remember two girls maybe more were held hostage in either a van or small rv. So one woman reached out the window and signaled the truck behind them that she was in danger. The truck then got in front of the hostage vehicle and slowed down causing them to also slow down. This allowed that woman to jump out with minor injuries. The truck driver assumed that she was the only one in danger and returned to normal speed. Another woman ignored this and still jumped out, leading to her death. The 1st woman ended up leaving the body and a trail was left in the mud.( It had been raining). This story covers the news as they look for the woman who left the body.

Edited by m@xwellresolved Show about people with powers that ends with a cliffhanger Live Action TV
This show was about how people with powers who were working for the police, and all i remember was about how it ended on a cliffhanger with a few details.
I remember that some old dude was looking for the bad guy who was planning on mentally shutting down all the people in the world/city for some reason, and then it happens that his plan succeeds and the final shot is how we see everyone passed out around the city, but a guy with the power of technology (i think) is the only one who was unaffected by the blast for some reason, and then the show ends.
open[SOLVED THANK YOU] Movie where a horse carriage descends from the sky to take people away Film
I have this really vague recollection of seeing a movie (though it could have been a show too) when I was young, where there was a scene with a horse-drawn carriage that descends from the sky dramatically and seems to be there to take people away to death or something like that, and there was an old man who was supposed to be taken for some reason. I don't recall if he got out of it or got taken though.
From what I remember the setting, at least for this scene, was rural and I have the impression it was set somewhere in Europe rather than north America. Possibly British Isles.
It also seemed like an older movie, I remember the colours being a bit washed out and sound having that sort of grainyness of stuff from the mid century.
Edited by CorsacopenFilm with hallucinogenic berries Film
I remember this from decades ago. A man eats some berries, then looks at another man, whose head inflates, turn blue or red, and speaks in very squeaky voice. He (the one who ate the berries) then falls over, seemingly dead.
Despite seeming like it would be, I don't think this was from a comedy film. I also remember gunfights.
openA show that had only a pilot episode Live Action TV
So a while ago while browsing random videos on Youtube, I found a pilot episode of a show that only had that pilot episode, and then got canceled for some reason. It's been a few years since I watched it and I only remember the ending of that pilot episode. Btw, I'm not sure if she was a spy or special agent. But I know most of the episode played during nighttime and it was a American show.
Okay so, the main character is a female spy, and at the end of the pilot episode she was fighting another female spy on the rooftops at night. The female spy was wearing a mask/pantyhose to hide her identity, but once she got unmasked by the main character, the other female spy appeared to be a friend of hers(She had blonde hair). The main character eventually overpowered the other female spy. That's as much as I can remember about the pilot episode.
There was also a side character who was an Asian man. It is very vague, I know and the chance of someone knowing which show I'm talking about is very slim(especially since it only had a pilot episode), but I'm shooting a shot anyway.
open[SOLVED] Old Book Where Protagonist Girl is Really Her Sister Literature
I read about it on this wiki and here's what I can remember: Old book, maybe 1800s or early 1900s? Protagonist is a young girl maybe 7-9 who is confined to a house or a chair and is kept in an infant-ish state. She had an older sister with the exact same name and possibly the same appearance. Sister was attacked (raped?) and died (suicide?) later on. Big twist is that the sister doesn't exist and what happened to the sister actually happened to the protagonist. Also, everyone in the story sucks and aren't helping the protagonist all that much.
Edited by ISS600open[SOLVED] (Bad) Romance Film - Veteran with Cancer Prognosis Only Sleeps with Hookers Film
I saw this movie many years ago and remember it being very cliche with mediocre writing. However, it had a a song I really liked that I can now remember nothing about — so I'm trying to find the film instead.
It features a woman who has been dumped and is wandering around Las Vegas. She ends up in a playboy bunny costume and attracts the interest of the above veteran. They sleep together in his hotel room that night.
Turns out, he thought she was a prostitute. He has a rule where he only sleeps with hookers because he thinks he's going to die soon and doesn't want to get romantically involved. Shocker, they get romantically involved.
She ends up joining him on his ranch-like house and he slowly dies and she ends up with the house or something.
It seems like a low-budget TV movie, but I'm not sure about that.
Edited by RydavimopenLive Acton TV show from the early 1990s - similar to Herman's Head Live Action TV
Dear Tropers,
I can remember this TV series from the early 1990s. I think it came just after Herman's Head as it reminded me of this - unique - series.
If the protoganist thought something then sometimes his 'thoughts' were being depicted by showing old black & white footage from old movies.
For example (sorry for this specific example):
The protoganist became sexually aroused (played for laughs of course) then briefly black and white footage of a rocket that just had been launched was shown.
Any idea what this series was called?
openVery early internet search engines / 'internet directory' sites? Web Original
Dear Tropers,
We all know Google of course. And Yahoo. Many of us know Infoseek and Excite. Can you please share with me the names (and possibly more info) of VERY early search engines or internet directory sites?
Do not limit yourself to the web (WWW) please. Gopher sites are welcome. And also 'sites' that could be used to search (or 'surf'/access) BBS (Bulletin Board Systems).
(To the TV Tropes moderators: I hope such a broad/general question like this is allowed.)
(EDIT: I replaced 'BB Ss' with BBS as the former was being interpretated as a 'link')
Edited by ththth10openMUSICAL: Stage show that had a VERY short run and mainly used simple shirts with names of characters Music
Dear TV Tropers,
I am not so much into musicials. Then again: I recently saw a documentairy on You Tube about a musical (stage show?) about.... well, I don't know anything about it acutally...
Only:
- It had a very short run. Basically it was a 'flop'.
- Rather close to the premiere they totally changed the presentation/clothings... The personas wore simple plain shirts with the names of the characters.
That's all I know. Your help is appreciated!
openPolice / Investigation Drama from the mid-1980s about 'older cases' in a small town Live Action TV
Things I know for sure about this:
- It was a US TV series from the (probably mid-) 1980s - It was about a relative young police officer starting to work in a relatively small town (maybe even a village) - This officer was looking through the archives/files of previous years and start to investigate these
- The ending was:
An older gentleman turned out to be the killer of a police officer years and years ago. This young police officer contronted him. No proof. But then....
This officer (or a colleague) stumbeled over 'a tube or something'. Only: this 'tube' turned out to be part of a police motor cycle.. that wa buried in the ground years and years ago. The older gentleman saw these officers digging up this old motor cylcle and took his rifle and tried to shoot the officers. As for as I can remember this older gentleman was killed then in the fire fight.
Anyone knows the name of this TV series?
FOR DUTCH/FLEMISH TV TROPERS:
I am very sure this TV series was broadcast on the Veronica 'network'.
openSomething about a polish cartoon reviewer and an innuendo... Web Original
I remember watching a video in which a polish cartoon reviewer reacts to a scene from the polish dub of Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (one with Gadget and crossdressing in it). What was it called again (I think it was something like "You know, for kids!", but I'm not really sure about that)?
Edited by OmegaPC777openScholastic Sci Fi, I think?
I think I got this at a scholastic book fair in the late 1990s or early 2000s. It was sc fi and about a boy who lives in a future where global warming is out of control and the planet is flooded so humanity lives in domes under the sea. He spends his time hacking computers and manages to get in contact with a female soldier fighting a war in space at orbit. I think they discover that the war is mostly a fake one engineered by the government to keep humanity distracted and not fixated on their situation under the ocean. It also turns out the soldiers are genetically engineered to be only about 3 feet tall and nobody realises because the ships are in proportion with them as a cost saving measure.

I recently came across an old movie I saw once and it made me think of some of the others I've seen. One that stuck in my head was a really strange one where the main character was a talking dog (looked a bit like a cocker spaniel, except unusual colors) who had an android partner/sidekick. I don't know if it was a movie or a series, but what I saw had her going to a secret, hidden (possibly subterranean) Aztec-style lost city with a man and his son (or maybe went with the son to find his father). At the end the people of the city allowed everyone to leave, but only if they'd take a concoction that would erase their memories (and the robot had to fake it since such things obviously don't work on machines). It was ridiculous, but it somehow stuck with me and I can't remember its name.
