open2000s anime with monster exorcising -- with a reference to Japanese mythology Anime
While rereading my query for a cartoon that turned out to be Mix Master
, I remembered another anime I saw in the same time and place.
I remember not finding this anime cool back then, for some reason. Once again, it had at least an Italian dub, which was broadcast in 2009.
It was probably a fantasy setting. There's only one of the heroes I remember in some capacity, and it's an angel/cupid girl, wielding a bow and arrow that gets used to exorcise/purify the Monster of the Week. The villains included a old crone-like witch, and an ugly, goblinish critter doing Pokémon Speak.
There's one thing that really stood out to me, though, and that's a reference to an event from Japanese Mythology, where a hairless hare kami tried to cross a river by jumping on the backs of either sharks or crocodiles. This is also why I'm confident it was a proper Japanese anime, instead of merely Animesque.
By the way, the reason I could recognize that reference to Japanese mythology, is that I had a book when I was a kid that collected various myths and legends from around the world, and one of them was the same Japanese kami trying to cross river tale.
openOld story about soup and a carbuncle Literature
My friend told me that he remembers from his school days (in the 1990s) a story that he says was from The Canterbury Tales. The story told of a cook who had a disgusting sore on his body that was called a "carbuncle", and this cook was famous for making a creamy potato soup. But the cook's patrons avoided the soup because it looked like the pus oozing from the sore in the cook's body.
He insists that the sore was described with the word carbuncle. I tried searching for this and I can find nothing. I think some of the details of my friend's account are mistaken because The Canterbury Tales is from the 14th century and potatoes are from the Americas, which means they would have been unknown in Europe at that time.
Can someone help me find an old tale about a cook with a carbuncle on his body?
EDIT: After more searching I found that the Cook from The Canterbury Tales is described as having a disgusting sore on his leg, and the Summoner is described as having a carbuncle on his face. I can still find no mention of a person who is put off by the resemblance of the Cook's creamy soup having a resemblance to oozing pus though.
Edited by FerrousFaucetopenLate 90s/early '00s anthology series Live Action TV
I've been trying to find a specific episode in an anthology series I used to watch when I was younger - I thought it was Outer Limits or The Twilight Zone but I've never been able to find the episode I was looking for by searching through those shows.
From what I can remember of the episode, it involved a group of college students (or maybe late high school?) Camping or something, and they end up in a cave where they find a bowl or chalice filled with blood. They accidentally spill it and seem to get stuck in perpetual night.
I think it ended with them killing one of their friends to refill the thing with blood, but the ending is ambiguous on if it worked.
IF anyone knows which episode this was, or even what anthology series it was in, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I may be misremembering some thing, but the bowl/chalice of blood and them having to sacrifice someone to refill it are definitely correct.
EDIT: After checking for the 500th time, it actually is the twilight zone - the episode is Sunrise, from the 2002 series.
Edited by phantomlink959resolved Flash webcomic with a character named Mr. Inverted Webcomic
I know someone who REALLY likes a character named Mr. Ivan Inverted, a white humanoid Sharp-Dressed Man. However, for some reason she won’t tell me where he is from. All I know is that he’s from a (old?) flash webcomic/animation (probably combining both flash and webcomic, similar to Homestuck). There’s also a pissed off looking girl wearing a cloak with blond hair and green eyes who Inverted teleports somewhere. The art style and animation is rather crude, looks like it was made in the late 90’s/early 00’s and the person told me the comic was “pretty much lost media”. Any help would be appreciated, maybe it’s somewhere deep in the webcomics index but I don’t know the name of the comic.
Edited by MochaSlushesresolved Animated fairytale movie about the seasons
I was trying to find an old animated movie that I saw once a long time ago. The basic story was that there was a princess or young queen who was dead set on having a bouquet of snowdrops and declared that the New Year's celebration would be put off until she got it, and also she would execute one person a day until she got it, which was an issue because January was only starting and snowdrops don't grow until March. In the end the issue was solved when someone I don't remember found the personifications of the months and convinced them to bring the growing season a little early.
Ring any bells?
openOld Edutainment Game that Took Place in a Circus Videogame
I'm trying to remember this one computer game I used to play on Windows 7 when I was little. All I remember is that:
- It took place in a circus
- The circus served as the main menu, showing a list of all available minigames
- The "leave game" button was represented by a clown icon
- The only minigame I remember was when you control a mouse with a mouse (get it?) to navigate a maze to get cheese
- It's not Math Circus or JumpStart 3 Ring Circus. Nor is it Putt Putt Joins The Circus
Sidenote: I think the game was a sequel to another edutainment game that was animal-themed and both games (I think?) shared the same credits music.
I know this is awfully specific but I hope it's not lost media or something I made up back in the day.
Edited by SleepingStarAikunoresolved Pokemon fan manga? Thing? Idk Webcomic
Not actually a webcomic but didn't know what other category to put it under. I know for sure it has a page here, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called or which namespace it fell under. I know it was a Japanese Pokemon fan comic that adapted FireRed and LeafGreen, I think it called Leaf Blue, and it had Blue/Green's Raticate die to poison holding off Team Rocket.
openMovie about ASL-using albino gorilla
In the backstory, a man who used to fight poachers rescued an albino gorilla and taught it sign language. In the present day, a space virus falls to Earth and turns some animals giant and aggressive, including the gorilla in its zoo enclosure and a wolf and a crocodile (i think) in wilderness. The man keeps advocating for the gorilla, who eventually returns to its senses and defeats the wolf and the crocodile, but it remains giant. A city gets wrecked in the fight. The concept was propably some kind of a King Kong send-up.
Edited by NukeliopenEarly Toon Game Videogame
I remember playing this game a little. Not sure when, but it's way before 2005 (when I entered into my teens). The games looks like it has Toon graphics.
There are two points I remembered in this game:
- To enter a door, I have to type in a password. The door guard says it's behind a towel. After keying the right password, there sequence of many kinds of doors opening.
- I opened something that leads to many characters bursting out like a stream.
It might have been a Puzzle Adventure.
openCrazy Games Videogame
Game where you fight monster vegetables and gain coins from doing so. If you get enough coins, you add upgrades to your player character.
openCshort index
I’m assuming Media Finder is the right place for this kind of question since it’s not for a specific title and instead an index, but whatevs.
anyway, ive been wondering if there was a work index for the vertical short Chinese dramas. series like The Beggar King’s Bride for one example.
resolved Book Series About Boy Band Literature
There is this TERRIBLE book series that I was obsessed with as a young teen and I have been hit with a sudden nostalgia for it, unfortunately I used to like pirate the books online so I have no physical copies. The first one is about a girl who is in college, she's kind of a lone, makes friends with two girls who are obsessed with this boy band, mc reveals she is childhood friends with said boy band but she has since fallen out of touch with them. They all go to a concert and she reunites with the band and subsequently falls in love with lead singer. The rest of the series is just about the other boys in the band falling in love with the friends and then like other random women who come onto the scene. Hope someone remembers it because I can't find it ANYWHERE
EDIT to add more details I remember: I'm pretty sure all the books are multiple PO Vs (or maybe just two; the featured boy band member and their love interest).
SECOND EDIT: I FOUND IT!! the series is called ransom :DDD
Edited by ditzykittenopenDocumentary about apocalyptic storm Live Action TV
Basically I remember there was a show similar to Life After People that explored different scenarios, like what if the world stopped spinning or what if all the oil disappeared. I have a distinct memory of an episode about storms increasing in intensity until the entire planet is covered in one super storm. There are two scenes I remember in particular:
A scene where a giant blot of lightning kills a herd of cows. The family watching this happen get vaporized by the radiation the bolt produces. And the ending where a group of scavenging people are living in the eye of giant hurricane and trying to keep ahead of deadly winds. I haven’t been able to find any info on this episode online anywhere. I know for certain I watched it somewhere between 2012 and 2014.
The closest match I found was a show called Aftermath, but it does not have an episode based on storms from what I can find.
openAPP Modern day comedy
Here are the details. Can anybody help me find the TV show?I remember character eats dog tranquilizer and goes to the doctor all worried. It’s a funny comedy. The character is gay I believe. I could be wrong on this. The scene is he knows the doctor at the hospital and the receptionist keeps trying to make him fill out the form and he says he needs to see the doctor right away before he starts acting like a dog. Forget the dramatize me video. Modern TV show I would say within the last eight years. The main actor. looks like Max Greenfield. From new girl and the Neighbourhood. I have seen this seen on Facebook as a reel.. The scene was in the hospital and the show had a laugh track
openMiracles and stopping a suicide
My friend is trying to find this, does anyone has any idea about what could be? The movie or even possibly Tv show, featured a man walking down a street and stumbles across this extremely depressed man on the verge of killing himself, possibly upon the edge of a building, he and this man have some sort of conversation in which the man tries to help him and it brings the attention to this statue that he manages to bring to life and starts dancing, as if he could perform meracles. He mentioned that the statue possibly like rejected him in a way? But he's not sure. He also mentioned that the movie had some sort of flying scene possibly on a broom which he's performing meracles all over the place? but he says that's very vague.
The film could possibly be made in the 1960s or 1950s probably black and white.
resolved A song from the 80s about a guy scared of a monster Music
A few months ago, I was riding in my friend's car when a song came onto a radio station that only plays sons from The '80s that really stuck with me that I unfortunately can't remember the name of. It's basically about this one guy who thinks about a monster and is worried about it coming for him, so he calls his friend to tell them about it, only to hear them get eaten by the monster over the phone.
openParticular Haus of Decline Comic Webcomic
I could use help finding a particular webcomic for a TLP I'm doing.
The webcomic Haus of Decline by Alex Ross at one point had a multi-part (I think something like sixty images) comic which is kicked off by a character realizing they're in a comic strip and realizing that their whole existence is in four panels, with the last one having them declare "I want to live!". The Haus of Decline website has seemingly been replaced by a Chinese bootleg reseller, and both Twitter and Bsky are godawful when it comes to trying to find a particular image in their archives. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
resolved Sick town origin story Anime
I remember this episode of an anime I caught while channel surfing, the main gist of it is that this pair of guys are trying to help the children of a town be cured of their illness, at one point trying to steal medicine (they get caught but a friend of theirs managed to get the medicine anyway). So the town gets the medicine, but a bunch of the kids sold their medicine so their parents could have food to eat. Pretty much all the kids die, I think the girl who helped them get the medicine also died? And one of the guys breaks because of this. By the end of the episode it was all a flashback and the guy who broke, now an antagonist (?) visits the other guy who was at the graveyard where all the kids and the girl are.
resolved Final Fantasy Series Anime with a frog episode Anime
I remember watching this episode of a Final Fantasy Series, where one character somehow got turned into a frog and needed a kiss to turn back to normal and warn the others of the ship. He managed to turn back to normal after narrowly avoiding getting eaten by a lady who wanted to eat him as a frog.

When I was in grade 1, in the year 2006, our school did a parade, and at the end after it we preformed a song. The parade was themed to the earth. The only lyrics to the song I remember are, there so much we need to do to do to pitch in on our home. But the lyric might have been world.
