openSelf aware tropey anime Anime
I found a video on this site from an anime that seems pretty interesting. In the clip a girl is giving a heartfelt goodbye to the guy, who freaks out because characters who say goodbye like that typically die shortly afterwards in stories. The anime makes it seem like the girl is about to be hit by a truck... only for it to be a small toy truck so she's fine. I can't find the clip anymore. Does anyone have an idea of what anime this is from?
Alternatively if there's a way to check what videos I've rated on the site that would work as well.
Edited by papyru30openDoujinshi about mute girl, not Komi Anime
Way before Komi-san, but not so way before, i read a doujinshi about a girl, who was a young woman, not a school girl, who couldn't speak. It was perfectly safe for work too -_- However with the release and massive success of Komi-san i can't seem able to find it. I don't recall much about this work except that, and that she used a computer to communicate rather than a notebook or something like that.
openAnother 90s cartoon Anime
Got an answer to my first one quickly So ill do another.
This one i think is an animated movie and i only remember the final scene.
In the final scene 2 giant mech things one blue and one red are destroying a city as they do. I believe they were very round. There is some people shooting at the mechs from a gun on the back of a truck.
Someone releases a weapon that basically destroys the world and then it is revealed i think that it is a god or something telling the story to her daughter.
I remember an earlier scene where the protagonist is in his first fight with a smaller mech/alien but has To retrieve a sword before he can defeat it.
openAnime where a girl inhales opponent's spirit energy or something. Anime
I remember seeing a scene from an anime where a girl was fighting in some kind of arena and she used some kind of Vacuum Mouth technique to absorb her opponent's spirit energy or something similar(possibly actual spirits). It briefly left her really fat until the strain made her release everything she had absorbed and then she was back to normal.
openAnime that I vaguely remember Anime
I had a friend who was really into anime tell me about a show years ago, about girls who were sisters, and there was a girl who's name was Mint (or so I recall) and one of the sisters was named Letuce (pronounced Leh-Toose, again could be misremembering). I can't get this out of my head until I remember it
resolved Fighting on a cake (solved) Anime
I remember a scene of an anime about a 2 guys fighting over a cake...literally on a giant cake.
And I remember one has the power to transform sugar into electricity.
Edited by ElBuenCuateopen[SOLVED] Gunslinger Shoots Seeds from Powerful Gun Anime
This anime is probably from the 90s or early 2000s, certainly in 4:3 format. I used to own the box set as a kid and I think it was maybe 6 disks worth?
One of the main characters is a guy who is mostly silent. He has a really powerful gun that uses some type of colorful seed-like things as ammo. He can combine different types of seeds to make different effects?
At least part of the show took place in some sort of desert or wasteland type area. This may be related to why the seeds are so powerful and rare, but I'm not sure.
There was also an old woman they meet who would always add, "[pause]...or something like that." after nearly everything she told them.
I can only remember these couple scenes, I have no idea what the main plot was. Hoping someone can help me out.
Update #1
I would guess it didn't have a large budget. If my vague memory can be believed, I would say the animation style was somewhere around Trigun or Slayers.
There may have been a second male MC traveling with the guy above. It's possible they were searching for a women, but I am much less sure about that.
The title may be only one or two words long.
Loading and firing the gun was a pretty long dramatic sequence. Each "bullet" would get slotted in and there was some sort of repeating dialogue during that. I think the gun loaded either exactly or up to three seed things at a time to setup a single shot.
Edited by RydavimopenHelp me find an asian cgi animated (3D) show Anime
I don't know if the "anime" category fits, because it's a TV show and I don't remember much.
But I used to watch this show on TV when i was young (around ~7 years ago). There was a young girl who lived in a village on or near the beach. I think she lived with a father figure too. She got a fish tank as a gift, and the girl found out the fish can talk (only she can understand) . She put them in a fish race, then the girl let them go. I think the fish wanted to stay though but they went away anyway.
This part kind of fades out of my memory, but I also remember that she was looking for her mother. When she went underwater there was fish that helped her breathe underwater (they gave her a pearl or something). This isnt in order, but I think she had a guy friend too. She also got kidnapped by some pirates, but in the end some huge octopus broke the ship and the girl with the boy escaped.
When she found her mother she saw that she was frozen, and her statue got somehow shattered. The daughter put them back together and the mother was alive (or mightve been an illusion). Mother gave her daughter a temporary flying ability.
I also remember that she was in a volcano with the boy and they tried to escape it. She was also friends with a creature that had a huge library.
Not to mention the intro song was an asian lady singing her native language to some beautiful instruments and it was powerful yet calming.
The show mightve been from around the 2000s. (1995-2010) It looked decent when I was younger though.
This is all I can remember. I will be super thankful if someone can find this show, because I've been thinking about it for awhile.
Edited by GrizopenScience fiction anime, space girl / planet guy Anime
I saw the beginning of this show sometime in 2000-2007. I believe, but am not 100% sure (it was a long time ago) that it was dubbed.
A boy raised planetside arrives at a space station and is clueless about the way of life of space people / how to function in space. He meets a girl raised in space; he comes off as clumsy and clueless, being in a foreign environment. Also, the two have a conversation about how in this space society, wanting someone else's DNA for your children is a high compliment. Then the two of them leave the space station and somehow wind up crashing on a planet. I left off at a space pod or some such crashed in what looked like a wheat field or tall grass, and with the impression that now that they're planetside, rolls will flip and the girl will be awkward / clumsy while the boy is knowledgeable.
openNo Title Anime
This was an animated film, almost certainly Chinese, longer than a typical TV episode but shorter than feature length. I saw it on British TV, probably some time in the 1980s.
In the opening scene, a crop of cabbages is sprayed with pesticide. A caterpillar (her species is referred to as "cabbage worm" in the English dub) eats one of the cabbages and becomes ill. She travels to the "Hospital for Useful Insects", but she is considered a pest, so she has to shroud herself in leaves as a disguise in order to gain treatment. The doctor is a crow. She overhears an insect in a neighbouring hospital bed mentioning that he likes to eat cabbage worms, and she hides deeper in her disguise.
By the time Doctor Crow and the other insects discover what she really is, she has pupated. Doctor Crow tells the insects to watch the pupa closely. When she emerges as a butterfly, Doctor Crow and the other insects accuse here of being a cabbage worm, which she denies, claiming that she is indeed a useful insect. In the final scene, she attempts to fly away, but she becomes entangled in a spider web, and Doctor Crow and the other insects laugh at her. This is clearly intended as a happy ending.
openanimated kids show - ninami? (found) Anime
Im trying to find this japanese animated kids show. One of my primary school teachers would put it on for us to help us learn japanese in around 2009. It was about a little yellow squirrel thing, who im pretty sure was called ninami or nanami.
I recall the first episode was about a girl going into the attic of her grandparents (?) house. It was like a tree house. And in there was a ball of fur hanging from the rafters and eventually it popped open and it was the squirrel thing! The rest of the show was about the squirrel thing learning how to speak japanese and learning social norms.
The show had a similar vibe to Moomin or Totoro.
im not sure how to attach images but i drew a picture of how i remember ninami looked: [1]
openRed, Green, Blue Flying Disc Weapon Anime
I've been searching every where. I believe this show was Western Animation or maybe Anime from the 80s or 90s.
I don't really remember much about it, but one of the characters had a very unique weapon... I want to say it was a red/green/blue 3-colored disc, and I want to say he could fly or hover on it. Additionally, the red/green/blue parts could separate and basically become 3 different boomerang-shaped weapons, and I believe that each color might have had its own ability..
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm starting to feel like I dreamed it up?
Edited by JBoothUAopen"Magic glass" artifact Anime
I remember a few years ago reading about ancient artifacts that were mysterious or ahead of their time like the Antikythera Mechanism and one thing I read about was an artifact that I can't fully remember. From what I can recall it was a centuries old glass tablet that when exposed to sunlight, an image would appear on it. This would have seemed like magic at the time but the artifact still exists and has been figured out. I think tt was done by using layers of glass carved in a certain way.I believe religious words appeared on the tablet when exposed to sunlight. I think it came from somewhere in asia. Not sure if there is a better place to put this. Thanks for the help.
EDIT: Not an anime, a real life object.
It is not the roman Lycurgus Cup.
Edited by glassbooksopenSchool Class Map Orienteering Exercise - Sprained Ankle & Jealous Girl [SOLVED] Anime
I may be able to figure this out on my own eventually, but I'm hoping you guys can help me out.
There is a school trip - probably high school - in a wilderness-type area. Students are divided into teams - possibly by class - and tasked with a map exercise for points or standing. Groups must navigate to certain points on the map to visit manned stations. All stations must be visited before the end of the day?
Several members of the group we're following sort of dash off without a real plan and without keeping track of where they're navigating. Eventually the group ends up off the beaten path and has to traverse some rocks across a river. One of the girls in the co-ed group is nervous, stumbles a bit, and is helped by one of the guys.
She ends up spraining her ankle - or something similar - and the guy who helped ends up giving her a piggy back ride so the group can keep going. At this point it's getting pretty dark and they start worrying that they are lost. I get the feeling that one of the other girls in the group is jealous about this turn of events, but is unwilling to admit she has feelings for the guy carrying the injured girl.
You'd think with this much information that I could figure this out myself, but my Google-fu is coming up empty. I keep getting results for how to treat sprained ankles, and generic anime school trips and training camps.
Edited by RydavimopenMissing reference for TF entry Anime
Back in my very first Trope Finder entry, my attempts at differentiating my trope from Please Put Some Clothes On included the male half of the pairing being "decapitated by a giant spiked club" as one of the possible injuries. I know I was referencing an anime, and I know the wielder is a purple-haired demon clad only in her panties (hence the club), but I unfortunately can't remember the name of the anime in question.
Edited by Gofastmikeopen(Found) Manga about demonic books Anime
I've been trying to find an scanlated mystery manga (only up to the first two chapters last time I checked, with each being done by a different group and with a significant time gap between them). In it, the main characters are a twenty-something grumpy guy and his child assistant. They have a book shop, but their true job is finding demonic books and either destroying or just hiding them. These books contain instructions about how to turn yourself into a human-hunting demon and cast some sort of compulsion to follow them in those who read it. Later on it turns out that the child is a full demon and the guy is at least halfway there, with the kid being the one actually in charge and pretty evil. Also, I think one of them had a name that ended in -taro. Shintaro, maybe?
The first chapter also shows a cheerful occult enthusiast visiting their shop, acting like he's known them for a while, but he doesn't show up in the second chapter so I don't know if he's a recurring character.

all i remember is one scene where a clumsy, possibly arrogant but i dont remember too clearly, girl messes something up in a class room and has to dance in the hall saying jingle bells over and over in an embarrassing outfit as punishment by her angered classmates. she meets her crush this way. iirc it also had something to do with demons and/or magical energy.
i found the show via a trope here that i can not find and might have been deleted a long time ago.
