As your friendly neighborhood Admin Team, the gang here at TVTropes HQ is always working to improve the site.
Many of those improvements begin with suggestions posted right here, on the Community Wishlist. Is there a feature you really want on TVTropes? Post it.
Is there something we could be doing better? We want to know. Do you think we look fat in these pants? We were totally afraid of that. See a bug? Report it.
Important things to know:
- We're all about that content-creation life! The top contenders for our attention are ideas that'll create more content, like the video uploading feature, or speed up launching new pages. On the flip side, design or layout tweaks won't be our top priority.
- Help us dig through the goldmine of old wishlist items! If you have an old request gathering dust or spot one you're totally on board with, give it a bump and a like. There's a treasure trove of 6+ years' worth of ideas just waiting to be rediscovered. Items without enough love may not make the cut and will be closed.
- Was your wishlist item locked up without an explanation? It was most likely disapproved or just too big of a task versus the benefit it would ultimately have. Time is precious, and we want to focus on updates with the biggest bang for the buck. Don't be discouraged though! We appreciate every idea and we're always listening.

openPrevent search engines from indexing "Inexact title" pages
The same as with nonexisting pages previously. These pages should return "300 Multiple Choices" HTTP status code.
Edited by __VanoopenLengthly threads
Some of the threads, especially the Complete Monster thread, are so long that when I go through it, it causes the thing to crash. I would like to ask the moderators to consider creating a way that moves posts from the thread into some sort of place where people can still view them, to confirm people were proposed, but that they aren't part of the thread maybe divided into sections, depending on the month of the year it was proposed in.
Edited by hopeshallliveopenArticle Header Link
I tried to make a link to a character within a characters article but there is no apparent feature allowing me to do so.
openRecent discussions link
I think I've asked for this before, but I think it would be useful to have a link to the recent discussions
page somewhere on the sidebar. probably under the Tools menu. This way people can easily check if any new discussions involve a page they're interested in, and it will hopefully increase the number of people actually using those pages.
openExtended liveblog markup help?
I’ve been meaning to add some color to my liveblogs’ text, but it never says where to do that in “markup help.” Could you put everything you can do with liveblog markup in there? Thx!
openNew Messages For Issue Helper
I have some ideas for new issue helper messages:
- Lewdness: The NamespaceGoesHere/TitleGoesHere edit you made sounds very perverse in an unnecessary way. Please read No Lewdness, No Prudishness on why we don't like it.
- Spam: The NamespaceGoesHere/TitleGoesHere edit you made contains third party advertising for a product. Please keep ads off pages, instead go ask in advertising@proper.io if you can put on the sidebar.
- Vandalism: The NamespaceGoesHere/TitleGoesHere edit you made is considered Wiki Vandal behavior. If you're only here to vandalise, don't. Just get out, or the mods will bounce you.
- Wrong language: The NamespaceGoesHere/TitleGoesHere contains words that aren't in English. They're only acceptable if the work has never been translated. Visit TV Tropes Translation Project and the Translations subforum if you want to translate pages to different languages.
openother options for supporting the site/hiding ads. I hate Google
Willing as I am to view ads or pay for them to be hidden, both the current options (whitelisting or buying a removal pass) would constitute supporting Google. I'm NOT willing to do that, especially in light of the recent policy change that some are calling "straight out of Orwell's 1984". Given the choice between the existing options, I think I'll stick to just watching the "#x page you've blocked today" increment as I laugh at the attempt on Google's part. Is there any way I can make a direct donation and, preferably (I'm happy to support the site either way. It's just really annoying), have the anti-adblock thingy hidden?
tl;dr, love the site, but hate Google and don't want to support them via ad revenue

Make it impossible to make redirects to blank / non-existent pages?
'Cause I accidentally spawned UsefulNotes.Digital Rights Management going to the non-existent UsefulNotes.DRM...
openMessage on Headscratchers/ discussion pages
I often see inexperienced editors post headscratchers on the discussion page for Headscratchers/ rather then the page itself
I've see mods replying that they should add it to the page since that is where better for organizing, visibility (other editors look more at the page then), etc, etc
So at the top of Headscratchers/ discussion page could be a short bolded message like "Discussion pages are for problems with the page itself, if you want to post a headscratcher please click on the edit page and add it to page itself" just to give them a friendly poke in the right direction
Edited by jormis29openAdd feature to video examples.
You can hover over a video’s name to view its description and secondary tropes, and also, a feature where you can rate the video from the video selection screen.
Edited by Memesdontdie66openA “Personal Sandbox” (Addition to the “Profile page”)
I’ve grown both familiar and comfortable with the format the website uses to list tropes, especially character pages.
Im asking if the option to create a work page for your eyes only accessed from your profile was possible without interfering with actual works on the website, including Fan Fics.
I’ve tried World Anvil, but it didn’t feel the same and preferred to keep any ideas private for the sake of avoiding giving anyone cringe before deciding to share it.
openMobile version's profile picture is smaller in comparison relative to the Random buttons
Comparing the size of the desktop profile picture at top right
And the mobile version of that same picture,
Using the Random Media button as a ruler, the Mobile version seems smaller in comparison? And therefore harder to click?
Just throwing out numbers here:
If desktop profile picture is 90% of the Random Media button, them mobile profile pic is 80%. But I want them at the same percentage.
Or am I incorrect?
Edited by MaladyopenDiscussion Finder page
I put a question for discussion in Downtime Downgrade recently. I don't think anyone sees it, unless they purposely go to the Discussion option on the trope's individual page.
I would like to see a Discussion board, similar to Trope Finder or Media Finder, where the trope or work is linked to the discussion query.
Ideally, you'd still be able to ask in the trope or work page, and have the discussion 'pushed' to a central board.
Edited by DeesbyFiopenFull "Search By Troper" edit history, for pages with less than 1 page of edits.
I know that for pages with tons of history, like VideoGame.Persona 3, it's limited to edits within the past 2 years
...
But could it get all editing tropers if it's only a page long, like for VideoGame.Apocalypse
(Future people, note: will disambig eventually)? Of course, it depends all about how the database search works.
But, I could just hide all the change notes and count manually.
Edited by Malady

So when you're on a TLP and you click the History icon, it takes you to a page where it shows all the changes that have been made to the draft... except it doesn't indicate which parts have been changed. Can't we use the same green and red highlighting used for existing pages on this wiki?
