openSomething that happened technically before the movie release Film
Netflix film "A House With Dynamite" events occurs in July 2025 (as long as a reenaction of the Battle of Gettysburg is taking place and is mentioned is the 162nd reenactment) so, what trope applies here? Present Day Past or Next Sunday A.D. ?
openI don't need a guardian Film
A character tries to refuse protection from an assigned guardian (secret service, parent) only to later be attacked and in some cases saved by the guardian. Often times the protected character is comically mean to the guardian, and makes jokes at his/her expense. Despite this, after the guardian saves the protected, the guardian reveals a level of affection for the protected. This is not necessarily Bodyguard Crush. It can be a teenage girl that rebels from her parents and then regrets it, and maybe has to be saved by Papa Wolf. Often times, it's a president or official that doesn't want secret service in the way at an event, then of course, there is an attack on the president, or other principal.

openRemake fixes a plot hole Film
As in title - the original work has a gaping Plot Hole or requires copious amount of Willing Suspension of Disbelief for the plot to work. A remake addresses the issue, fixing the problem with some - often minor, but important - change to the set-up or world-building and thus resolving something that was poked by fandom for decades with the original.
Edited by TropiarzopenAPP Flashback on the fly/ Misremembered Retelling of a story Film
When a character is retelling a story, it cuts away to a scene that visualises the narration, and everything we see matches up , usually with the story continuing as a voiceover
If the storyteller misremembers a detail, “he was holding a fish - no wait, it was a broom” the scene will adjust in real time , with actors or props changing instantly , (sometimes with the actor looking confused as a kind of 4th wall break that the retelling is not too good)
sometimes the characters in the retelling scene will lip sync dialogue of the storyteller saying the words they remember being said, showing that everything we see is through the lens of the storyteller.
openStory inside a story Film
In a film, the main character starts telling a story that becomes an important part of the film as long as it raises interest on those who are hearing it... it also takes part of the film itself, not exactly if this is "show inside a show", an example can be found in the film adaptation of The French Lieutenant's woman where the film recounts the film adaptation of the novel but also the relationship between the actors that are acting on it..
openSolar Sounds Film
I have a distinct memory of this scratchy, white noise sound that appears when the sun is depicted, or generally heat, in film. It's not simply the sound of burning, it's more artificial than that, a made-up sound I think. Does anyone know what I'm thinking of?
openToo busy with important stuff to care about modesty Film
A naked person doesn't care about the fact they are naked and proceed with what has to be done in the thick of it, rather than wasting time to cover themselves or even considering modesty.
I will go right to specific examples:
- Dances with Wolves: Dunbar is taking bath in a pond when his (only) horse is being nicked from him in a complete middle of nowhere, which would left him stranded. Facing a choice of putting on any clothes at all or stop the thief, he just grabs his gun and rushes head-on toward the corral. Kicking Bird (the thief) is less afraid of John and more shocked by the fact a completely naked man is charging toward him, so he makes a run for it.
- No Hard Feelings: When Skinny Dipping, Maddie and Percy get their clothes taken by a trio of people who want to prank them. Maddie, who absolutely had it that day already, simply walks out of the sea completely undisturbed, rushes toward the pranksters and proceeds to pummel them silly, retrieves the clothes and goes back to Skinny Dipping, much to Percy's confusion.
- Underwater: The opening has the underwater drill rig suffering a critical collapse, forcing characters to rush to safety in whatever they were wearing at the time. In case of Paul, combination of wearing a pajama and an explosion leaves him virtually naked, but modesty is the last thing he cares about when trying not to die.
No, this is not Naked People Are Funny (even if it is related) nor Full-Frontal Assault (which is what often follows). I need that decision making when it's too important or requires a fast reaction to waste time on putting on clothes.
Edited by TropiarzopenTrope in Film.MenInBlack Film
In the first scenes of the 1997 Men in Black film, Mikey is revealed to be an alien. When he charges at Janus (one of the border agents), the latter screams for ten seconds straight before Agent K kills the alien.
Which trope fits the above description?

openMeta Casting, but referring to the director Film
Meta Casting (sorry) is a trope where there is a nod to some real-life aspect of the actor in the work playing a role. Is there somethign like it in terms of the creator, like a joke about a director or series creator if they're famous?

openCloaking device/doesn't show up on scanners? Film
Is there a trope for when characters/robots/vehicles don't show up on radar and scanners that doesn't involve an Invisibility Cloak?
For example in The Empire Strikes Back after the Star Destroyer Avenger narrowly misses crashing into the Millenium Falcon, Captain Needa orders his men to check their scanners. When they check the scanners, they can't find the smaller ship, to which Needa responds "They can't have disappeared. No ship that small has a cloaking device."
Another example is in The Incredibles 1, Mirage is briefing Mr. Incredible on the Omnidroid Killer Robot he's supposed to be stopping and mentions that the Omnidroid has a cloaking device that renders the robot difficult to track, meaning he has to find the robot first. Mentioned in this clip

openSlow motion sports throw Film
This is the last play of the game and the titular team requires to score. The ball is passed to the main character (or, at least the most skilled one) he takes the ball an shots... the ball goes in slow motion, cue the faces of several key players in the scene (the main character, the trainer, the love interest, the rival, the public)...
How this trope is called?

I’m looking for a trope that covers this situation:
Character A is trying to convince Character B to do (or not do) something, but B won’t listen. Then A turns to Character C — who has more authority, respect, or influence over B — and says something like “Tell him!” or “You explain it to him!”
