Find a Trope:
openNot the target audience Web Original
A phrase that reviewers use to indicate their opinion should be taken as a grain of salt, or used against them for being to over critical.
openSomething about catching the entire universe (solved) Web Original
In that part of a Dorkly Originals video
, Red used a Zapdos on a masterball and overcharged it, resulting in him catching the entire universe and the narration to ask with horror what he had done. What's that trope's name?
openWhat is that light supposed to be? Web Original
In the SMG4 page of groin attacks, I put in this conversation.
I'm wondering what's the trope's name regarding the part where swagmaster wonders what is the light supposed to mean.
EDIT: Ok not sure why the structure isn't copying exactly.
Edited by AlicornGaiaopenBlackbeard realize his beard became pink from a prank (Answered) Web Original
In this Assassin Creed 4 song
by Smosh, Edward Kenway sees Blackbeard got drunk and passed out while they were celebrating their treasure find. He takes the chance to steal Blackbeard's treasure for himself before realizing he could also do something else. When Blackbeard wakes up, he realizes that Edward not only stole his treasure but dyed his beard pink, he screams out Kenway as Edward sails away laughing as his prank worked.
Which trope about pink fits the above scene? Also, is there a trope about "You were the first to fall asleep at a party and hence get pranked by the other attendees"? Feel like the second question also fits the scene well.
Edited by AlicornGaiaopenCreators acknowledging this site Web Original
Is there a trivia or Just for Fun item for creators acknowledging this site in some capacity?
openFanboy bought the company? Web Original
Elon Musk liked being the world's richest Twitter troll so much that he bought the company and made himself CEO, and has been, shall we say, very controversial in his new job. Is this Promoted Fanboy, Running the Asylum, or something else?
Edited by RonfaropenObvious Post-Production Correction Web Original
You know how sometimes in web video the creator makes a factually incorrect statement, but not wanting to spread misinformation on the internet or do a new take of that part, they might dub over the line with whatever mic they have at hand or text-to-speech, pause the video and say "Sorry fellas it's not actually X, it's Y, my bad" or briefly show some text on the screen with the correct information? Like, they make a whole bit about it instead of trying to hide that there ever was a mistake made at all?
openA particular pregnancy trope for smosh (RESOLVED) Web Original
In Mimes Are The WORST!
, one segment has the Mime and his girlfriend look at a pregnancy test (which says PREGGERS). The girlfriend then angrily asks him what was supposed to be a mime condom who could only respond with a cheeky grin.
I’m unsure which trope this is but I know it’s in the Pregnancy Tropes list.
Edited by AlicornGaiaopenReactive Voiceover Web Original
There's a thing I've seen often on Binging with Babish and The Backlogs among others, where an obviously post-recorded voiceover responds to action on-screen as though it were being recorded on site - saying "Whoop" when dropping an ingredient, or offering a "Glurk" when an in-game avatar is smashed by an enemy's hammer. Is this a Thing?
Edited by hobbitguy1420openShallow attitude Web Original
Is there trope about vain people who extend their vanity towards those around them? Both in terms of looks and/or status/background?
openA recurring Out of Focus character Web Original
A character is a very famous singer. He doesn't take part in the story, but sometimes he appears with songs on TV.
Edited by FuladeopenFalling victim to the thing you humiliated someone else for Web Original
For example, a character humiliates and bullies the janitor, and then eventually, they become the janitor themselves.
Alternatively, someone humiliates someone else for being in an embarrassing situation, and then get into that situation themselves.
openOpening that looks like news broadcast Web Original
Translation for the screenshot (because it is in Japanese):
openWhen have I ever... Web Original
A character says something along the lines of "when have I ever hurt you / lied to you?" while or immediately after doing the thing in question.
openAccidental adoption Web Original
A character unintentionally ends up with an adopted child. Specific example in mind is how Schlatt accidentally adopts Grunk in SMPLive when Grunk initially intended to assassinate him. Couldn't for the life of me find a trope for that but feel it probably fits somewhere.
Edited by SerillyopenOmnicidal Maniac without world-ending powers? Web Original
What do you call a character who wants to kill everyone they see, but doesn't necessarily have the power or intention to destroy their entire world like an Omnicidal Maniac?
- Robbaz: Played for Laughs. In his Hitman videos, Robert is not content with just killing his assassin character's targets - he usually winds up killing every NPC in the game that he comes across.
openBacker Bonus Web Original
Is there a trope/trivia item out there for people who crowdfund a work getting special perks? It could be anything from early access or name in the credits to full-on exclusive content.
openBreakingTheFourthWall meets FetishRetardant Web Original
Bob is getting his feet licked by a dog, to which Bob responds "Spot, stop licking my feet! This is a Youtube Poop, not a foot fetish video!"
openAvoiding getting Copystruck Web Original
Characters in a YTP/Abridged series attempt to sing (i.e. a sample of the source material's audio/video is shown intact) Only for one of the characters to tell the others to stop lest they get sued by the people who own the rights to the source material

Is this sufficient for Tangled Family Tree or is there a different trope that could work here? (This is for an upcoming work page) (timestamp to a brief video explanation
)
- The Elements Of Insanity: RariFruit and Pinkis Cupcake become related in a sense through the spirits possessing each of them. Rarity was possessed by RubberFruit while Pinkie Pie was possessed by his son, Painis Cupcake. Pinkis initially finds the idea of RariFruit and her being mother and daughter to be odd, but she just considers them to be especially close friends.
