Do we have a trope for a song that doesn't even try to rhyme? For example, Alice Cooper's song "School's Out For Summer" with the line ''Well, we got no class, and we got no principals, and we got no innocence...we can't even think of a word that rhymes!" It's not Painful Rhyme, Rhyming with Itself, or Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion because they aren't even trying. It's like Not Even Bothering with the Accent, but with rhymes.

Looking for a trope about the "Rock Chick", which can either be the girl singer fronting an otherwise male band, or the leather-clad ardent female fan of hard rock music. I'm thinking about Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart), Jenna Haan (Babe Ruth);the two girl singers who ended up fronting Fleetwood Mac; or even an all-girl lineup like Girlschool. Thanks!

Is there a trope covering pumping one's fist in the air which isn't Fist of Enthusiasm? I'm talking like the "Guido Fist Pump" (although it's older than Jersey Shore) where you pump your fist to the beat of music; or the Dog Pound from The Arsenio Hall Show which would collectively fist pump and bark "Woof woof woof woof!"

I have the feeling I hear the music Lux Aeterna
quite often (though I never quite remember where), to the point it almost sounds like a musical trope in itself… would it deserve its own page like, say, Toccata And Fugue In D Minor?

There's a singing style in the 20s/30s that I can only describe as "warbling", even if I'm not sure that's correct. Anyway, it's frequently (and easily) used to add an eerie feel to a scene. Examples:
"I Only Have Eyes For You" in Jeepers Creepers and the Buffy episode of the same name.
"Welcome to John Adams High" in the episode of Boy Meets World that spoofs horror movies (the one with Jennifer Love Fefferman)
And I'm sure there are others I can't think of at the moment. Anyway, is there a trope for this?

Is there a trope for having an instrumental recording of a song available so that you can sing your song? Kind of like a Justified version of Invisible Backup Band. Not necessarily a tape/CD/etc. that you carry about with you, but one that just so happens to be where you are. Example: On The Dick Van Dyke Show Sally goes to a bowling alley where nobody bowls because they're doing this new dance invented there called the "Twizzle." They dance to the music from the jukebox, and a young man has an epiphany to sing a made-up-on-the-spot song which goes perfectly with the vocal-less tune already playing! The original tune isn't about a dance or anything, it's just instrumental.

Frankly, I'm not even sure if this is a trope...
Anyway, when an artist sings a song, (usually) their voice is hitting notes and playing out a melody based in the pitch of their voice. What's it called when there's a version of the song with no vocals, and instead an actual instrument is inserted to play the notes that the singer would normally hit? I know there's such a thing as an instrumental version of a song, but it seems like that could cover both what I'm looking for and versions where the voice track is just absent (like in karaoke).

We have "Somewhere" Song for songs about wanting to be in a fantastical place. Do we have a trope for songs about real places? Songs like "New York, New York", "California Songs", "Country Road", "Sweet Home Alabama."

I know we have a trope for Dig Your Own Grave, but is there one for just seeing your gravestone? It probably brings a sense of foreboding.
Specific examples: Four minutes in here
, and arguably the end of the nightmare scene from Fiddler On The Roof.

There was an index of tropes named after song titles or lyrics, but I can't seem to find it now. I know Let's Wait a While and Caught Up in the Rapture were listed, but don't show that index now.

Listed under Music as, technically it is music, but it's actually "played" more from places like You Tube.
This is where you have an already existing song, usually from a soundtrack, esp. VideoGames, though it could be any song, replacing the instruments with vocal / sound samples from other works. Common sources for these samples include That Guy With The Glasses, Team Fortress 2, other sources of YouTube Poop, and recently My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic.

So Florence + the Machine. One of their popular songs is called Drumming Song
, which is a non-appearing but very descriptive title. On the set they did live on KEXP radio, they performed Drumming Song
— without a drum set.
The closest I can find is Unplugged Version — is it that, or is there a better trope?

This post moved. Thanks.
