For when a character or robot in a Videogame has an appendage or appendages made of a series of small sprites to approximate the appearance of a tentacle/arm/tail/etc. I've seen it in plenty of games, especially Sega Genesis games like Sonic 2 and 3&K, Vectorman (from which the description in quotes comes), Gunstar Heroes, Ristar, etc.
open"Warriors"-style game Videogame
I noticed a high number of games, such as Persona 5 Strikers, Hyrule Warriors and others, that copy the Dynasty Warriors gameplay; fast-paced Hack and Slash against HOOOOOOOOOOORDES of enemies. Do we have a category for such titles? Like Metroidvania or Role-Playing Game?

openEnemies immune to hazards? Videogame
A video game thing that I have noticed, but I don't know if it has a name or if it is really that common. Essentially, the idea that enemies and other non-player characters aren't affected by hazards or terrain like the player is.
Examples I have are:
- Nitrome has this a lot, like Bad-Ice Cream having all enemies immune to campfires that kill players, Frost Bite having enemies who can freely walk over the Spikes of Doom and Cyber Samurai in Final Ninja Zero, in an optional section of one level, can be lead into walking on electrified blocks, which don't hurt them.
- Dust: An Elysian Tail has crumbling blocks that don't crumble when enemies walk on them.
openPermanent Game world/Gameplay Change Videogame
I'm wondering if there's a trope for, after reaching a certain climactic "halfway" point in a video game (perhaps beating the Disc-One Final Boss ), the gameplay or game world changes permanently, beyond simply just "its harder now".
Examples I can think of are:
Terraria : After beating the game's Disc-One Final Boss, the world changes into Hardmode, bringing with it, exclusive enemies, characters, and materials, as well as an entire exclusive biome.
Hollow Knight : After reaching one of a selection of gameplay milestones, the first major area of the game permanently changes to be much, much harder, seemingly to make it a final level since the final boss is located there.
openTrope where you can't/impossible die in a Video Game at all Videogame
First time doing a Trope Finder post, I'm wondering if there is a trope where it's impossible to die in a Video Game, For example, In Kirby's Epic Yarn, your health bar is the number of beads you collected, getting damaged makes you lose them similar to Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic games, except there is a twist, You can't die if you get hit with no beads, instead, it just stays at 0, You also can't die from Bottomless Pits, since there's a Bottomless Pit Rescue Service. (Subverted in the 3DS port, The new Devilish Mode makes it possible to die, but as seperate life points) I'm wondering if there's a trope that shows this feature? (It could also possibly lead to It's Easy, So It Sucks!, And could also be related to Mercy Mode)

In ANTONBLAST, Maulbuster is one of the bosses, fought in a stage theatre. In the titlecard thing seen in the intro for her boss fight, and also one of her attack animations (her main attack is Symbol Swearing), she can be seen holding a skull.
It's clearly a reference to the Trope Namer for Alas, Poor Yorick, but there's no actual emotional connection between Maulbuster and the skull as far as we know, and we don't know what the character she's playing as (assuming it's not As Herself) relationship either. Its not being played for drama, its there because she's a theatre actor.
openRanged Weapons Hit Harder Videogame
Quite a few works I follow and update avert existing tropes like Annoying Arrows and Guns Are Worthless. They're in genres and settings where those tropes are normally in effect, but in these, arrows and guns actually do deal the type of damage one would expect. (For balance purposes, other methods are typically in place to keep melee weapons viable.)
I'm thinking of taking an idea for a trope like Ranged Weapons Hit Harder to the TLP as an Opposite Trope to those two, but want to make sure I'm not missing something that already exists first. TIA!

An enemy has an attack the messes up the way your controls work. Example: in ToeJam & Earl there was some enemy (I forget what), with an attack that inverts your d-pad, so pressing the up key makes you go south instead of north, and vice versa.

A character whose entire purpose is to relay information about the game state to you, Games like Personas 3-5, or Phantasy Star Online 2 have these types of characters, who do things like announce enemies are approaching or that an objective has been completed.

You know how sometimes you'll revisit a game from your childhood and find the graphics were worse then you remember? It's happened to me, and I've seen memes from other people suggesting a similar experience. Do we have a trope for this? I guess it would be a bit hard to narrow down, as theoretically any game could apply to this. I suppose it could also apply to other mediums, like special effects in films and TV looking less realistic then you remember)

Is there a trope where accepting an optional sidequest too early can accidentally spoil a plot point from the main story that you aren't supposed to know about yet?
For the specific example I'm thinking of, in Xenoblade Chronicles X, accepting Hope's first Affinity Quest when it becomes available in Chapter 3 spoils the fact that the humans living in NLA are actually robots called Mimeosomes being remotely piloted by their consciousnesses from within the Lifehold Core, which you aren't supposed to learn until Chapter 5.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Piragill Leggings were mistaken for Lagiacrus armor by many at first. It then later turned out to be from Piragill, and Lagiacrus was not in the game (at least at launch, and it wouldn't be officially announced in late March.)
The later part where Lagi was indeed coming isn't part of the base YMMV, just the part where "content in an upcoming update/media is mistaken for a returning thing that it's not.)
hypothetical examples:
- New location in a trailer is mistaken for a preexisting Recurring Location.
- Teaser for a new playable character is mistaken for a preexisting character found in a previous installment of the series.
- Teaser for a returning character is mistaken for a different returning character.
openFrenzy Mode in Idle Games Videogame
A special mode in Idle Games where after filling up a meter by collecting a certain amount of items, you enter a "frenzy" where collecting them gives you more of the same item. IIRC this was in Cookie Clicker, where its Frenzy Mode gives you even more cookies, but it's also in other Idle Games to encourage the player to actively play by collecting the onscreen items.

A specific type of horror game that plays like you're the protagonist of a creepypasta. However, instead of simply Defictionalizing a haunted game as described in the creepypasta, these games are programmed to actually act as if they're haunted, in a The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You way, like closing and opening by themselves.
There's apparently a recent game called 98xx, which is presented as if you're using a PC from the late 90s, before it starts acting all creepypasta-y, even if it doesn't seem to have a Tv Tropes page. Aside from opening and closing automatically, players also have to find secret links in the game, that when searched on the internet will yield videos and pages, which tell more of the lore.
However, a more familiar example would be Imscared. This game also closes down automatically at some points, and goes even further by adding files on your PC, which contain the hints to progress in the game.
I haven't found anything specific in Video Game Genres, but I first wanted to ask here if the fourth-wall breaking/diegetic gameplay can be already covered by an existing trope.
openYou Aren't The Title Character Videogame
Do we have a trope for games/media where the Title/Logo Character you see on marketing and such isn't the character you play as? - notable example being The Legend of Zelda. Alternatively, a trope where the Logo Character doesn't match the name of the title.

For context, I've found multiple misuse of the Expy trope across various different works, most prominently in Fan Games that emulate the original source in many ways. The examples were about characters/units deliberately serving the same function to another preexisting character from another game (for example, an animatronic from Five Nights At Freddys acting as Foxy, where they have to be constantly checked on the cameras; eg, The Blank), rather than being the same type of character in a... well, character sense.
So is there a trope that better fits what these misuses were going for? Could a trope be created for this?
