resolved digeraddd
Spinning off from this ATT thread
, digeraddd
has several glaring editing problems dating back to when they first started editing in 2018 and continuing to this day. The linked thread mentions that the page they created is full of Shameless Self-Promotion, unlinked tropes, non-tropes, and trope misuse (and that they have added their self-promotion to other pages (at least one of which has been cut), but it doesn't end there. There's also:
- Several cases of natter/justifying edits (such as on this page
.
- Changing somebody's pronouns from they to he (after it was stated that they go by they/them pronouns)
.
- Their Shameless Self-Promotion reaching pages that don't even have anything to do with Youtube, podcasts, or gaming
.
- Their habit of adding non-tropes and/or with no link (and potential trope misuse) is not limited to the page they created that's mentioned in the ATT thread.
- Some edits that are just
...what (even ones that are made and then immediately undone still exist in the page history)?
resolved Issues with Unintentionally Unsympathetic on YMMV / The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
So some users seem to really want to fit Karli Morgenthau into an Unintentionally Unsympathetic entry on this page. As follows:
Version no. 1:
- Karli gets hit with this quite hard by the end. Sure, she lost her only mother figure and she's the product of a world that lost half of its entire population for five years, but she's only going further and further into the Moral Event Horizon as the show goes on. It reaches a peak in the final episode, "One World, One People", where she callously decides to kill the hostages, completely forgetting that she intended on using them as a bargaining chip instead. Never mind blowing up the GRC supply depot in the third episode. As a result, not a lot of tears were shed when Sharon, a.k.a. the Power Broker, finally put her down for good.
Version no. 2:
Then again, it it kinda makes sense when you realize the Super-Soldier serum must have amplified her negative qualities too, just like Walker. She may have been a person with good intentions, but probably nowhere as incorruptible as Steve. In other words, "Good becomes great, bad becomes worse."
And Version no. 3:
- Karli is clearly meant to be a Tragic Villain with a sympathetic backstory and motivations, but many feel that she crossed the Moral Event Horizon too many times for them to buy into Sam and Bucky's view that she is ultimately just some troubled teen lashing out at the world when she commits multiple murders and attempted murders, blows up buildings, takes hostages and tries to set them on fire to prevent them from being rescued, and it doesn't help that she has nostalgia for the time when half the planet was dead and resents the Avengers for restoring billions of murdered people to life. Many see her as little more than a murderous whiny teenager with a childish view of how the world works and almost no empathy for problems that are not her own.
Putting aside that a character can't crost the MEH more than once, I don't feel like proper protocol was followed. as you can see here
, the first version was added in by Your Boy Russell on April 23rd before being edited to the second version by Hissing Aurora 94 the same day. I then deleted it a few hours later because it was a self-arguing entry, telling them to take it to the cleanup thread to discuss it first. Then the third version was added yesterday by Dragon 101. They did not bring it to the discussion thread, or really discuss it in any way before re-adding a version of the entry.
Look, I don't really care if some people don't like one character on the show but this doesn't work, right? At best the entry is bad and needs to be edited, at worst it needs to be deleted for poor curation.
Edited by MinisterOfSinisterresolved Conservational and Off-Topic Headscratchers
The entry on Headscratchers.Incredibles 2 "Why isn't it called The Incredibles 2?" had the following entry:
- The point of headscratchers is to try and provide an "in-universe" answer to the question provided. Nothing in the story provides any plausible reason for why the title of the movie would drop the "The" so this really isn't an answerable "Headscratchers" question. Any reason given here is speculation or pure imaginative fun.
After this, the discussion shifted to forum like conservation between posters on the purpose and merits of the Headscratchers answers and less on the actual question itself, which seems improper for Headscratchers.
Edited by costanton11resolved Just here to troll
Oscar Baiter only seems to be here just to make unproductive edits, as their edit history

I don't want to revert the pages myself, as I don't want to start an edit war.
Edited by YuriHaru567resolved ROCEJ violations?
Brendan Rizzo
's edits sometime veer into ROCEJ territory.
- Accentuate the Negative: Since RationalWiki is aimed at refuting pseudoscience and fallacious argumentation, and promoting skepticism, the site naturally has a bit of a cynical streak, to emphasize how much society gives such bigots and frauds undeserved respect. This naturally extends to politics, such that every country in the world is made out to be an awful place. Japan is particularly notable here. Yes, like all countries, it certainly suffers from systemic problems that neither the government nor its people are willing to acknowledge, but to hear the wiki tell it, the country is run entirely by bigoted authoritarian nationalists like Saudi Arabia or Russia.
- Have a Gay Old Time: If 4chan or Encyclopaedia Dramatica or any other troll site innovates an offensive slang term, or an innocuous word is used sexually in obscure Internet erotica and never in real life, add the example. Clearly, the original definitions have gone the way of the dodo.
- And That's Terrible: Useful Chartsβs video on the family tree of the Roman kings has the host interrupt his summary of the Rape of Lucretia by saying that, despite Lucretia supposedly being the most virtuous of women, her killing herself specifically so that no woman to come after her can excuse their own promiscuity, even if she is raped, proves that this assessment is undeserved. Basically, he calls her a karen without ever using the word. This is rather strange, considering that most people donβt need it pointed out to them that ancient peoples were not as morally advanced in certain areas, and despite the series covering other ancient societies which were just as bad if not worse by modern standards without moralizing about it.
Most notably, the last one was brought up in the ROCEJ cleanup thread (which called for it to be removed), and it had the edit reason "Please donβt misunderstand me for one of those anti-SJW idiots. This sort of thing gives us moderns a bad name". I sent multiple ROCEJ notifiers a couple of months ago, which they haven't responded.
Yesterday, they added another quote that sounds rather inflammatory to Quotes.JustEatGilligan:
So...yeah.

resolved Is "needlessly vindicitive" a proper edit reason for removal? Videogame
Black Yakuzu 94 removed several entries from the one of the recap pages
for Fate/Grand Order, claiming to be "removing needlessly vindicitive comments". Their removal of certain tropes from the YMMV page for that recap page but without an edit reason prompts to ask if that is a legitimate reasoning, if the entries were actually that, or if this was a case of agenda based editing.
Removals from the main page:
- Asshole Victim: Even before Morgan's backstory was revealed, the majority of Faeries that the protagonist encounters outside their closest allies are jerks, backstabbers, manipulators, pretenders, violent murderers and worse. And then there's Morgan's backstory which is just an endless cycle of her being betrayed by the very Faeries she's trying to save. It makes her harsh oppression of them as the Queen almost justifiable.
- Kick The Son Of A Bitch: Oberon Vortigern is the final boss and the eventual Arc Villain, and he intends to destroy all of Proper Human History after escaping the Lostbelt alongside killing off Chaldea to keep them from stopping him. Definitely not a good guy in the slightest. But... when he actually accelerated the destruction of the ungrateful Faerie races? And that he boasts that at least he succeeded in destroying Fairy Britain? Well, seeing just how horrific they are, it can be tempting to pat Oberon Vortigern's shoulders and tell him 'job well done'. Same with Cernunnos' reawakening and then giving Oberon Vortigern what he needed to start his plan.
- World of Jerkass: While other Lostbelts are very much definition of Crapsack World, they were inhabited with complicated beings who are capable of both good and bad. This Lostbelt is notorious for having a majority of its inhabitants being selfish, backstabbing, greedy, lazy, ungrateful, manipulative assholes, while decent faeries can be counted with two hands at most and those tend to be met with horrific ends at the hands of the asshole ones. It was these inherent self-destructive tendencies 'in the name of fun' that led the world to ruin (with Morgan adopting tyranny to put up any semblance of order, and even that was only temporary until she was ousted and betrayed). The EX Difference Depth classification of the Lostbelt isn't just for show.
Altered on the main page (Bold portion was removed)
- Downer Ending: While previous Lostbelts all end in a bittersweet note, this one's ending is really bleak. The entirety of the Faerie British Isle is torn to pieces by the Calamities, with the only three characters surviving it until the world's end being Melusine Albion, who is just barely holding herself together, Oberon Vortigern, who is stuck inside the Insect of the Abyss so that it can't escape outside, and Aurora, who is slowly dying anyway. Furthermore, Chaldea's secondary mission to retrieve Rhongomyniad ends up failing as the lances were all used to try to kill Cernunnos and they were unable to save anyone from the Lostworld. Sion also hints in the ending that Chaldea's good luck streak of conquering Lostbelts without casualties is about to end. The only good that came out of it is stopping the world from being destroyed and they were able to get an alternate tool, a physical version of Excalibur, to defeat the Foreign God. Thereβs also the silver lining that all the malignant Faeries deserved what they got for being such assholes of the highest order and put everyone, including the world itself, through hell for their selfishness and fickle nature.
- Mercy Kill: What the heroes have to end up doing to the few good fairies who really didn't deserve to die
Removed from the YMMV page
- Catharsis Factor: Unlike the first five Lostbelts, the players will probably be very happy to see Cosmos Denial after completing the chapter considering how awful the fae are.
resolved Problematic troper
They made SCP Chronicles and its subpages. The work page itself is stub with only two good tropes (albeit with three examples for one trope), the other are either ZCE or general example. The Characters/ and Recap/ also suffer similar problem (the have more trope examples than the main work page however, even if everything on the work page are duplicated on these subpages) plus several empty folders.
I fixed these pages per our standard procedures (commenting out ZCE, removing misuse, removing spoiler tag above examples, removing empty folders, etc.) and sent them 4 notifiers for stub, spoiler, misuse, and ZCE (the last one is from different article here
.
Sadly, they don't seems to get it
. They do fix some ZCE, but also uncommenting other ZCE and restore empty folders).
I suspect Auto-Erotic Troping. And I don't know if it's wrong, but Laconic.SCP Chronicles is word-by-word copied from Laconic.SCP Animated Tales From The Foundation.
Edited by Kuruniresolved SnowPatrol = Similar_Set_6582?
Per this ATT thread
, the troper zombies4eva made a report trying to get another troper in trouble for "un-reverting ban evader edits", only for it to turn out that zombies4eva was ban evading themself. While their edits have been taken care of, one question remains. A troper by the name of Snow Patrol started the discussion post
that zombies4eva replied to and took to ATT, and seeing that zombies4eva was apparently ban evading with at least two other accounts around the same time,I was just wondering if Snow Patrol is another sock of theirs. Even if it isn't, Snow Patrol's discussion post is near-identical to the one that Similar Set made on Reddit
, meaning that they're engaging in drama importation/exportation, if nothing else. The fact that they've made no edits on this wiki and only seem to have made the account to add the discussion post only fuels the point.
As the mods have said, while there's nothing they can do about a Reddit (or any other website) user stirring up trouble on this wiki, they can do something if the person also has an account on TVT.
Edited by UFOYeahresolved Quotes misuse?

a quote from himself, with its source being from one of his own edit reasons on this very wiki.
Though quotes from Youtube comments and other websites are allowed (as far as I know), I wasn't aware that you could use your own edit reasons as quotes on a Quotes subpage. Or am I reading this wrong?
resolved Edit warring to keep a YMMV item on a main work page
About a month ago ~King Ghost added
Designated Hero—a YMMV item—with improper Example Indentation to Webcomic. The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace.
Yestersday I sent "YMMV" and "indentation" Notifiers to King Ghost, then removed
the entry from the page and combined
it with the entry that was already on YMMV.The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace.
Today King Ghost replied to the notifiers with what clearly showed he didn't read the articles linked in them to understand why what he did was wrong. I replied to the replies, but then I checked the page itself and saw that he had already
put Designated Hero back on the work page, again improperly indented, and with Edit Reasons that also show he doesn't understand what the problem is.
I'd continue to try explaining things to him before coming here, but since there's a rule violation on the page I'd wanted some help with that, since removing it again is pointless if he'll just put it back once again.
resolved BonaFIDE's edits to Recap.SpongeBobSquarePantsS2E14WelcomeToTheChumBucketFrankendoodle Western Animation
Bona FIDE made these edits on Recap.Sponge Bob Square Pants S 2 E 14 Welcome To The Chum Bucket Frankendoodle:
- Unexpectedly Dark Episode: The episode from the revelation that Plankton has obtained SpongeBob's services to the musical number has copious, if not gratuitous amount of crying. And that's the tip of the iceberg, with SpongeBob's brain being removed and placed in a robot and the Krusty Krab actually shutting down! Holy overexagerating, Batman! This is not "unexpectedly dark". Plankton basically kidnaps SpongeBob for one episode and shenanigans ensue with everything going back to normal by the end. There are really only two scenes with crying and they're semi-Played for Laughs (any emotional tension is broken up with Plankton being a comedically massive jerk). SpongeBob's brain being removed is also Played for Laughs given how we don't see the operation, Plankton's plan fails miserably regardless and SpongeBob gets his brain back in short order, and the Krusty Krab is shut down for a grand total of about 10 seconds. Also a Pothole to a Moments page. Yeah that song in the middle of the episode made me weepy as a kid but it's followed up with more typical SpongeBob hijinks. This is no darker than your typical SpongeBob episode.
He added Just Eat Gilligan to the page even though it's YMMV now and even then, it makes no sense: Plankton couldn't control what Mr. Krabs was going to bet: his secret recipe (which, let's face it, he would probably never in a million years do even if he was confident he would win) or SpongeBob's employment contract. He also added a Sinkhole elsewhere on the page.
- Just Eat Gilligan: Plankton admits he threw card games so that Mr. Krabs would bet something valuable, but despite the idea of betting the physical formula being mentioned twice (one time by Plankton himself), Plankton goes for SpongeBob instead for some reason.
He changed the word "punk" to "jerk" several times for some reason.

resolved Potential edit war and unneeded “word cruft” cleaning in TabletopGame/SLAIndustries
A troper named mcghie68 (apologies if that didnβt format right) has been constantly undoing edits under the reason of βword cruftβ, but in the process removing the actual information in the edits as opposed to simply cleaning grammar. Now, initially I thought this was an abundance of caution given SLA Industries and its notoriously convoluted canon history and leaks, but now it is affecting edits I know were okayed by Word of God as officially published books that are still available and still canon, like Threat Analysis: Collateral or the skirmish game Cannibal Sector 1.
Edit for clarification: I noted a brewing Edit War in my last edit, but have not notified them yet, as given said canon issues, I wanted to make sure myself (a lot of edits were removed based on them being in a backer beta, not a yet-published book).
Edited by Lelielresolved Possible sockpuppet of Traveler123
I have a hunch M 2 Medium might be Traveler 123 aka Aces Full ban-evading. I randomly stumbled upon Traveler when browsing the TLP Community Issues thread and seeing them mentioned, and comparing Traveler and M2, there's a strange amount of overlap.
- Their TLP
replies in particular are quite alike
, using "team" to refer to collective tropers, using the phrase "marathon, not a sprint" in reference to TLP itself, calling descriptions "threadbare", giving advice about "honing your skills" among other things. Individually I wouldn't give these a second thought, but they're the only two accounts I've seen exhibit this specific pattern. ([1]
and [2]
, [3]
and [4]
, [5]
and [6]
)
- These
comments
on a draft M2 adopted from Aces are pretty suspicious. They claim they aren't the OP unprompted, and express a "it has to be done this way" type of ownership; nothing "gatekeep-y" per se, but they were still pretty direct about it. They also bumped
a draft that had last been commented on by Traveler close to 2 years prior, and, again, said response comes off as suspicious (the "searching for parking" scenario sounds plausible on its own, but it's sandwiched between claims that they're a newbie).
- This
comment/thread talking about misuse of Reckless Gun Usage, which was their last post prior to being banned, is pretty similar to M2's first post, which is about misuse of
Real Life examples of Let's Get Dangerous!.
Is this just a silly series of coincidences and/or me being paranoid, or are they really the same person?
Edited by Coachpillresolved Anti-character bias?
On Super Mario Bros., Oneperson 323 removed Princess Daisy from the listed female characters in Action Girl, without explaining why in the edit reason. I reverted the edit and sent them an Edit Reason notifier. Normally, I would have deemed the problem solved and moved on.
Except, unfortunately, I spoted this edit
where they threw a gratuitous jab at Daisy in the caption of an image (and I've just noticed that they also changed the image itself, despite having been suspended beforehand for doing unapproved image changes, also on a Mario-related page)
I'm afraid this troper's personal gripes against the character are being reflected on their edits.
EDIT: Punctuation fix.
EDIT : Spotted another problematic edit, where they deleted Princess Daisy's example

resolved Edit War on Characters/UndeadUnluckGodAndTheSuperiorRules Anime
- March 17th, 2024

- March 18th, 2024
, Troper Rebel Falcon (Myself) reverted entries.
- Edit Reason: Image changes need to be approved via an Image Pickin thread.
- March 18th, 2024
, Troper UnCorrectManiac instigated Edit War by undoing reversion, as well as changed the image for character "Luck" without opening an Image Pickin thread.
- Edit Reason: If you believe the new images do not fit the page than feel free to make an Image Pickin' thread to argue your case, but at the moment it seems silly to revert them back without doing so. Every other image on this page was added with the Image Pickin Thread being needed before hand, I don't see why these should be any different unless your actually willing to explain why in a thread. If there is already a thread for UU I'd love to take part in it, but I could not find it myself.
resolved Possible NRELP violation?
I'm not a fan of Rooster Teeth or Achievement Hunter, but the Tear Jerker page for the latter work contains a lot of real-life examples that covers the personal issues or departures of its members, despite Tear Jerker itself prohibiting real-life examples on its work pages unless scripted (assuming that scripted RL examples are allowed in the first place). The example I want to bring up is the firing of Ryan Haywood.
- In October 2020, both Ryan and Funhaus personality Adam Kovic became involved in multiple scandals of inappropriate behavior towards fans, which ultimately resulted in both men leaving the company. This led to a lot of turmoil and nasty arguments among the RT community, and then crossed personal boundaries when Ryan's family—victims in their own right—became subject to death threats and harassment with one member of the community even doxxing his wife's practice.
- Amidst the scandal and Ryan's abruptly controversial exit from RT, that week's AHWU video was posted to YouTube with all of Ryan's footage erased and edited out. Unfortunately, this also had the effect of completely erasing community manager Steffie (who only appeared in group shots alongside Ryan) from the video, ironically in an AHWU that's supposed to be about announcing a Steffie Week of videos focusing on her.
- Even more heartbreaking are the Twitter responses from the various personalities within Achievement Hunter. They just weren't co-workers, they were friends and family and this was a major blindsiding betrayal for them.
- After Jack had been silent on the matter for several days, his wife Caiti came forward and revealed that he was silent because she had actually become borderline suicidal, and Jack had spent his time balancing taking care of her and his work life for nearly three weeks.
- It did not escape many people's notice that the game the group streamed that Friday was Dead by Daylight, one of Ryan's favorite games. The video constantly bounces between feeling like they're taking the game back for themselves and feeling like something is missing.
- It was later announced that all future videos involving Ryan that were recorded and ready to release will not be uploaded in the wake of the scandal, and the channel went silent throughout the timeframe they were supposed to come out. Even though it's understandable why, a lot of hard work and fun laughs that went into those videos will now be laid to waste due to reasons outside the rest of the group's control. In a double whammy to Steffie, not only did she get edited out of her own "Steffie Week" announcement, that week of videos is probably a casualty to affairs now.
- The first livestream
since the news broke. It opens with Jack looking utterly miserable, and it is very hard to blame him with recent developments regarding Ryan's conduct at the company. He makes it quite clear that he had no idea he was doing this, refers to him as βthat monster.β He and Michael make it clear that all the AH Crew are all for removing as much content involving Ryan from all platforms as possible from their near decade-long video library, and stating that he will never be welcomed back. Not once during the entire video do they refer to Ryan by name. Seeing people as strong and energetic as Jack and Michael being near tears for twenty straight minutes is absolutely gut-wrenching from start to finish.
- In the stream, he goes out of his way to mention Geoff, saying that he's so overwhelmed that he has no intention of making a public statement and has asked to be alone. Geoff was one of the people who hired Ryan, so even if we haven't seen any public reaction to the news it's impossible to imagine it's anything other than complete shock and depression.
- Despite Jack saying he wouldn't, Geoff wrote a lengthy statement on the Rooster Teeth subreddit, refuting his old accusation allegations against him that he himself was sexting fans and may have known about Ryan's affairs. In it, he revealed some more heartbreaking details about his breakup with Griffon. For example, they realized their marriage was falling apart for far longer than they let on, and tried to go through a number of steps to salvage it, one of which was eventually polyamory. They attempted an open relationship (Geoff stresses that they had full communication during this time and had multiple therapists guiding them through it), but that eventually led to an allegation that he was cheating on his wife with a fan, which he has since refuted. He also mentions an unknown family incident that caused a nervous breakdown back in June, explaining why he has been absent from Rooster Teeth affairs for a while now.
- In the same week that Geoff wrote his statement, Trevor had to release a 10-page statement refuting abuse allegations against him, revealing that he was the victim of emotional abuse for the duration of his previous relationship. Even as he attempted to end the relationship with the support of his friends and moved on to a happier relationship with Barbara, his ex continued to stalk and harass him and kept spreading abuse allegations against him that he attempted to resolve privately until the scandals forced him to reveal such personal details.
As someone who knew Haywood AFTER the news broke out, and was more of a fan of RT's animated content than their Let's Plays, I didn't really have much of an attachment to Ryan as his former fans were. However, as serious and heartbreaking as the whole event is, I feel like this violates the No Real Life Examples, Please! policy by virtue of not only doing a breakdown of an unscripted event (the heartbroken reactions of Ryan's coworkers, the removing of Haywood's contributions to RT, Jack desperately trying to take of his wife in light of the incident) that had nothing to do with the LP's themselves outside of making Ryan's Comedic Sociopathy in those videos retroactively abhorrent and discomforting, but also having examples that skew uncomfortably to Rule of Cautious Editing Judgement territory (such as bringing up his family getting the brunt of online harassment after the news broke). And yet somehow this example managed to stay on that page for three years without anyone questioning if it should be allowed on there in the first place. It's like putting the widespread condemnation of Elliot Gindi after his misconduct allegations came to light on Genshin Impact's Tear Jerker page despite the controversy having no affect on the story itself.
I remember someone on the "Moments" thread mentioning that RL examples should be allowed on Tear Jerker pages for Let's Plays, but I'm not sure if they changed their mind on that idea or not. What should be done of this?
EDIT: Fixed grammar and spelling mistakes.
Edited by ToonAbbyresolved Page needs renaming
I noticed the page for Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea goes by a translation of the film's Japanese name, when in English it's known as just Ponyo. TV Tropes has a policy of going by a work's official English name whenever possible. The normal solution would of course be to manually change everything myself, but I don't know if I'll have the time or resources to do everything. Is it possible to tell a moderator to do this for me? Thanks in advance.
I should also mention the film has a bunch of subpages that go by Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea and need changing as well.
