Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:
- General questions about the wiki, how it works, and how to do things.
- Reports of problems with wiki articles, or requests for help with wiki articles.
- Reports of misbehavior or abuse by other tropers.

Ask the Tropers:
resolved Avoiding edit war + only Fridge Logic entry on Fridge/ page?
There was a page move request
that I fulfilled that moved a page from an incorrect namespace of FridgeLogic/ to Fridge/, and I added "Fridge Logic" as the header for the single entry.
~constanton11 edited the header
to Fridge Brilliance instead, I assume this was an oversight since most Fridge/ pages start with "Fridge Brilliance"
Why I'm bringing this to ATT (besides wanting to avoid an edit war which could be hashed out privately) is that I'm not so certain myself if a Fridge/ page can have a Fridge Logic entry alone or if it should be moved to Headscratchers/ or merged back to YMMV.
Edited by BlackFaithStarresolved Fair whodunit according to van dine.
I'm looking for examples of works that follow the twenty rules for a good detective story written by SS Van Dine, apart from the mysteries he wrote himself. There are many examples of knox's decalogue in the trope Fair-Play Whodunnit, but none about these other rules.
Edited by luigirovattiresolved Replacing page image you put there yourself
Good day.
I was wondering: If you want to replace the page image of a page you launched that still has the page image you picked pre-launch, do you still have to start an Image Pickin' threat for it?
resolved Question about character page cleanup threads
I have a general question: If a troper like myself creates a character page cleanup thread for a specific series, where should they announce it? Thanks.
Edited by gjjonesresolved Move, pls Film
I think the real reason why Itsuki No Kimi E has only 1 wick is because the title itself is misspelled. A quick search shows that the title is supposed to be "Itsuka no Kimi e" ("Loving You"). And one of the characters' names is "Noboru Fukami", not "Noboru Funami". How to move a page?
resolved Question regarding Self Demonstrating Character Pages
Are there any rules I should know of before I start creating a Self Demonstrating Character Page from scratch?
Edited by Pikmin404resolved revert for SelfDemonstrating/CAPSLOCK
someone updated everything in Self-Demonstrating/CAPSLOCK to be upper case, but this breaks the wiki code; can a mod get a revert?
resolved Can’t think of a title
So, if something like a “replay” icon is shown within a video itself, is that allowed?
Edited by Puttotheangel23resolved Pre-show Debut Western Animation
What's the name for the Trope where a character first appears in some type of promotional picture or merchandise before their actual debut in the show itself?
resolved Diesel Punk or Oceanpunk? Videogame
I really like the look and feel of this videogame called The Brew Barons, a Ghibli-inspired video game where you fly seaplanes, collect items to brew different kinds of alcohol, and fight off sky pirates (just like the epitomous Porco Rosso).
I don't own the game nor can my laptops run it so even if I want to write the page, I'm sadly out of the loop. So as a sort of bookmark, I thought to make it a red link for the time being, hoping either I get to play it one day for myself or someone else makes the page for the rest of us. However, I don't know whether to put it in Ocean Punk or Diesel Punk, or if I should even make a redlink at all.
resolved Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek Web Original
So I made a page for Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek the other day, and then I thought of something. I was going to put the series into the FanWorks.Super Mario Bros page... only to be confused for quite a while, because the series itself is based on a mod for the game, so do I put it in ROM hacks or Web Video?
I have no idea.
Edit: I just realise that I thought about it too much, please ignore this.
Edited by Narioresolved Entire Page Typo Web Original
I was looking on the Dethroning page for Web Orginal Others and noticed that there was a very obvious typo in the title and page url, with "Original" being spelled wrong.
Is this something for a mod or admin to fix? I'm hesitant on doing this myself, not only because of how big this change would be, but I just don't know how to do that properly.
Edited by MidnightRun99resolved Donkey Kong from the Mario movie
Well, it looks like I edited a file of Donkey Kong from the link
and I find him very attractive as Mr. Fanservice himself, because of being a Hunk and doing a Pec Flex ocassionally. I think some comments were right about it. If you would make a page of Donkey Kong spin-off movie when it comes out soon on T Vtropes.com, you'd describe him "the titular character as the sex symbol on the Nintendo Cinematic Universe". So, that's why...

The author itself mistakes a character's gender.
In the Left 4 Dead campaign Death Toll, a character let someone else into his safe room but bit them because they were infected; however, he says, “I can’t believe HE bit me”, and inside there is the corpse of a female zombie.
