resolved An addition that I might need help on evaluating Western Animation
MamaLadilla suddenly added
the phrase "(and confirmed biologically-female)" to this entry. Turning it from this:
- Viewer Gender Confusion The non-binary Raine Whispers is sometimes mistaken for a man due to their masculine voice and hairstyle, though a flashback episode shows their younger self with a more feminine voice and appearance.
To this:
- The non-binary (and confirmed biologically-female) Raine Whispers is sometimes mistaken for a man due to their masculine voice and hairstyle, though a flashback episode shows their younger self with a more feminine voice and appearance.
OK, first off, where was that confirmed? Second, was this really necessary to add?
Edited by AudioSpeaks2resolved WyDuUDuWatUDu = Shaggadelllicc?
I've noticed that Wy Du U Du Wat U Du (who began editing in 2023
) has edited pages on quite a few of the same works that Shaggadelllicc (who was suspended in 2022
) has. Though, admittedly, that isn't enough by itself, the fact that the former troper re-added a Status Quo Is God example about Lisa being a brainy outcast again (albeit rewritten, though still having the same message) that the latter first added on this page
(and it had been cut for shoehorned complaining) is quite suspicious.
resolved Should a stub work page merge with subpages?
Continue from older query
, I think the topic worth its own query.
A week passed and the troper doesn't appeal, so it isn't like they'll get to fix it in timely manner. But what should we deal with the article? The article itself is stub, but it would has enough trope if we combine it with subpages. That being said, I've absolutely 0% interest in this work and feel fixing it is pointless (not counting clean up edit, only one troper contributed to it).
So should we just send the article and its subpage to cut list, or moving some passable content from the subpages to the work page and delete the subpages? Again, the latter sounds like the correct action, yet it leeks of being Polish the Turd.
Edited by Kuruniresolved What's the line between Bad Boss and Mean Boss? Web Original
In response to a previous query
, I recently moved all the examples of Bad Boss on Not Always Working's page to Mean Boss due to trope misuse. Now I'm considering moving the Mean Boss examples to a new page, but I'm wondering now if some of the Mean Boss examples counted as Bad Boss examples after all.
For instance (text copied from the article itself),
- This boss
expects a worker to clean up an active biohazard without any sort of protective gear, because calling the city about it would cost too much, yet loaning the worker equipment they're not trained in, or letting them buy the equipment themselves, would be illegal. The worker quits on the spot.
- This boss
tries to send an employee out for carts in the middle of a severe thunderstorm, and then screams at and fires them when they (rightfully) object. Luckily, Laser-Guided Karma kicks in right away when her boss finds this out, and, thanks to an extensive history of screaming in front of customers, she is immediately fired the next day for intentionally putting the employee's life in danger, and later gets thrown behind bars for assaulting her ex-husband over a lost custody battle.
- The bar owner in this story
refuses to reschedule a mandatory meeting (which turns out to be just an hour of patting herself on the back for the bar's performance during a busy period, ignoring the staff's efforts) despite a two-foot blizzard being forecast, and threatens to fire anyone who doesn't attend. Despite their obvious reservations, the poster manages to get in just one minute late... and gets a write-up for it. The poster quits on the spot. Those who failed to attend — most of the staff — are indeed fired, but promptly sue for wrongful termination and win; it also comes up that the staff weren't paid for attending the meeting. The Department of Labor gets involved, and not only is the bar forced to close, but the owner ends up having to sell her home and many of her possessions to cover legal fees, damages, and back pay. At the end, the poster notes that none of this would have happened if she had just taken their advice in the first place and rescheduled.
- The grocery store manager in this story
won't allow the poster, a lot attendant, to come in for a drink of water, despite being in the middle of a July heatwave in Florida. After four hours of this, a passing gentleman convinces him to go inside, offering to speak to the manager in person and even buy some water. The manager immediately spots the poster and fires him. However, said gentleman, who turns out to be the regional director, steps in, angrily berates the manager for her reckless endangerment of an employee and gives her a fourteen-day suspension — which soon escalates to her dismissal, as it turns out that she has been forcing underage employees to work longer than labor laws allow and denying them mandatory breaks.
- This supervisor
refuses to let the OP, whose Psycho Ex-Boyfriend is always waiting for her by the door at closing time, leave through an alternate exit, laughing in her face when she has had enough and threatens to quit. She does (sending her resignation to the "big boss" who completely understands), and even goes through the unemployment process... but the supervisor refuses to accept this and treats it as her going AWOL, finally calling her up and threatening to fire her if she doesn't show up for work, and ignoring her protests that she doesn't work there any more; the poster finally agrees to come in just to shut her up (but doesn't do so, obviously). After her number gets blocked, the supervisor starts sending employees to the OP's house to demand that she come in to work, though all they do is "chill" at her house (and get paid for doing so). The poster eventually moves (and the ex is dealt with legally).
The impression I get from Bad Boss in my last query was that BadBosses are willing to kill or let serious harm befall their underlings. Would you guys say these examples count?
Edited by DancouMaryuuresolved Fic author wants page deleted
The contents of Fanfic.Stormy Bubbles got replaced with the fic's author stating she wants the page deleted since the fic has been deleted.

resolved Troper camping on the Sonic Adventure 2 pages. Videogame
Troper L Fisher has been cutting multiple edits that portray GUN (one of the antagonists of Sonic Adventure 2) exactly as negatively as the game itself does, and making edits that partially exonerate them for committing mass murder ("but the Black Arms!"); they also tend to cut any mention that GUN was implied to be framing Sonic. While all this has been going on for a while, my personal last straw was them doing both of these recently, reducing the "Frame-Up" entry to a single sentence that isn't even accurate (Shadow didn't frame Sonic, at least not intentionally).
Not only is it extremely difficult to make edits about GUN on these pages, but I feel that this is treading uncomfortably close to apologia for real-world atrocities.
resolved Troper with a string of bad edits
So, lately I’ve been noticing how Ninja Ghost Dragon has been making pretty terrible edits that I frequently have to undo because of how bad they often are. Lemme give some examples:
- Adding a non-canon example to the Dooku page that has nothing to do with the canon works.
Whenever a Legends work is discussed in a Star Wars page, there should be a comparison to the canon works or else they're not necessary there.
- This edit pretty much undoes the trope and the excuses and additions they added in the edits are either subjective or downright incorrect.
Their wrong edit pretty much means the trope can’t be played straight because if there are "whole others" (and there’s not because those those few people mentioned in the example are the only ones Anakin’s kind to) then this trope can’t be played straight.
- Constant grammatical and spelling errors. Lemme give a bunch of examples:
- Just take a look at the number of grammatical and spelling errors they made in this Anakin edit
.
- I undid this but they said might of instead of might have, misspelled destroy, and said "a Jocasta Nu" rather than just Jocasta Nu
.
- They should’ve used self-preservationism and they used the wrong kind of reckless.
- Forgetting to italicize the show name, verbal tic word cruft in the form of "heck", and at the very least they should have put a comma after using heck.
- Removing "where" when it was used properly, using "antagonizes" instead of "antagonizing", not adding a comma after using "also" at the beginning of the sentence.
- Again forgetting to italicize a work’s title
.
- Uses "with rifle" instead of "with a rifle", made a typo with "killedm ore" which I presume is "killed more", unnecessary use of the word along, and misspelling "desperately".
- Disobeying Edit Tip 8 (A trope can't be "partially subverted" any more than a woman can be "a little bit pregnant), using all caps on averted, and being grammatically incorrect in the edit reason to boot.
- Just take a look at the number of grammatical and spelling errors they made in this Anakin edit
And that’s just scratching the surface. If I had more time, I could probably add around 10-20 more examples of them making bad edits.
Edited by MaxyGregoryyyyresolved Trope Launched Before It Was Ready
On the draft for Peculiar Penguin
, both Booplesnoot and myself expressed concern over the scope of the trope, both saying it was too broad and that the page needed work before launching. Bedford took some of our advice, but also ignored large parts of it and went ahead and launched once the trope drifted off the front page.
Is this kosher? The page had just barely passed the minimum wait time and had its launch announced prior, but to my understanding the launch announcement is to be delayed when there's an issue.
EDIT: Changing some of my wording, the draft had more hats than I remembered.
Also, is there a dedicated place to discuss recent launches?
Edited by MurlocAggroBresolved Ban Evader Concern?
Okay, so I'm not 100% certain on this, but the red flags are becoming way too hard to ignore. I think Planet Of The Primates may be Amour Le Fou because:
- They've resurrected Cartoon Monkey
, a TLP draft Amour was very interested in.
- They've resurrected Amour's "Stock Cartoon Animal Depictions
" draft, which was extremely contentious.
All that was just sort of coincidental though. What really gets me worried is their very similar edit histories. They frequent a lot of the same trope and work pages. Comparing their edit history is downright uncanny. It's the same deal with their forum history — they play the same games (which in and of itself wouldn't be incriminating, but on top of everything...)
So, that's the rub. If a mod could look into this, I'd appreciate that.
resolved Possible Word Cruft? Videogame
I attempted to ask this in the "Is this Word Cruft?" thread
, but haven't gotten a response.
This was recently added to YMMV.Mario Kart 8:
- Let’s face it, even if you hadn’t seen the Prefix Leak or didn’t know it was in Tour, you knew Wii Rainbow Road would be the final track of the Booster Course Pass, so it wasn’t even a slight surprise upon its reveal.
While it's not wrong, as others (including myself) were indeed able to predict the course, it just comes of as crufty to me. What should I do?
Edited by ChillyBeanBAMresolved Unsure about possible sockpuppet (RESOLVED)
This troper's issues haven't gone totally unnoticed, given they've repeatedly
had to have
contentious edits fixed
, but long story short is this: SGC487336 has a history of making misplaced unilateral edits like these
ones
, tends to misuse/misapply Hate Sink as an excuse to wonk
, has wildly inconsistent grammar (compare this edit
to this one
) and in general just has a lot of customs violations. I sent them a notifier about the Eddsworld change on October 23rd that they never responded to.
The reason I'm considering that this might be Kissinger 113 is due to the account being created less than two days after the interim of their second
suspension
, with their (SGC's) first edit being:
- Arch-Enemy: Chandler becomes Lincoln's Arch-Nemesis since "The Waiting Game", "Schooled!", and for the rest of the episodes.
- Big Bad: Becomes the main antagonist of The Loud House series.
- Faux Affably Evil: Be careful, Chandler pretends to be nice and polite to Lincoln and his friends until he becomes aggressive and hateful character.
This was back when they had a more consistent writing style, with one of Kissinger's final edits being rather similar to both this and the second Helluva Boss entry linked above:
- Red Herring: Lori initially paints Carol out to be an insufferable Alpha Bitch who strives to steal her thunder, though it's subverted when it's revealed that Carol isn't that different from Lori and in fact possesses similarly leveled insecurities about Lori's accomplishments.
Admittedly, this isn't enough proof in and of itself, but given how active they both were on The Loud House pages, that one Eddsworld change where they merely made a cut-and-paste copy of the then-current What Could Have Been list without getting rid of the latter (which seems like on-site plagiarism, as opposed to Kissinger's being off-site) and the fact that Kissinger seems to have written this entry on TLH's now-deleted
Surprisingly Realistic Outcome page according to their edit history, something that was laden with stretches, ZCE's and some wonks (all of SGC's biggest problems with writing entries in a nutshell) I'm still suspicious about all this.
E: Resolved now; thanks Gaston.
Edited by Coachpillresolved Looking for a page
I am looking for the page where you can give ideas for adding examples to tropes, (when writing it yourself won't do it justice) for other people that want to edit the wiki but don't have ideas.
I thought I remembered looking at a page like that before, but after half an hour of searching I still can't find it.
3/29/2024 Posthumous edit: I originally closed this as resolved due to extreme anxiety despite not actually finding what I was looking for, which was Trope Idea Salvage Yard.
Edited by moosetwinresolved Anti-character bias?
On Super Mario Bros., Oneperson 323 removed Princess Daisy from the listed female characters in Action Girl, without explaining why in the edit reason. I reverted the edit and sent them an Edit Reason notifier. Normally, I would have deemed the problem solved and moved on.
Except, unfortunately, I spoted this edit
where they threw a gratuitous jab at Daisy in the caption of an image (and I've just noticed that they also changed the image itself, despite having been suspended beforehand for doing unapproved image changes, also on a Mario-related page)
I'm afraid this troper's personal gripes against the character are being reflected on their edits.
EDIT: Punctuation fix.
EDIT : Spotted another problematic edit, where they deleted Princess Daisy's example
in ActionGirl.Video Games
resolved Verifiable source for character name? Film
The Characters/SonysSpiderManUniverse page gives the name "Corinne Wan" for the Malaysian EMT that the Riot symbiote takes over in Venom, but to my knowledge her name is unrevealed in the film itself (she has a name-tag but I personally can't make it out) and Michelle Lee is only credited as "Malaysia EMT/Riot Host".
I checked the edit history for the page and the editor who added it cites the SSU wiki as their source, which doesn't provide any sources for that being her name... so is there an official reliable source for the EMT's name being Corinne Wan?
EDIT: Her nametag does say Corinne Wan, but it's hard to make out since her full name is only briefly visible at the beginning of the movie.
Edited by Arawn999resolved Possible unnecessary labelnotes
I found these labelnotes on Characters.Trails Series Calvard Arkride Solutions Office which seems unnecessary to me.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: His face appearance is apparently androgynous enough that some people, such as Van, can't tell if he's supposed to be a boy or a girl, to his displeasure
◊. Though interestingly, Aaron and Feri actually question how Van could make that kind of mistake.Explanation While they (including Quatre himself) acknowledge that such a mistake would be somewhat plausible from a distance, Van made this mistake while face-to-face with Quatre.
- Kuro II reveals that Quatre is actually a Hermaphrodite due to the experiments he suffered at the D∴G Cult's hands, which explains Van's confusion. Explanation Van's sharper sense likely made him notice something is off about Quatre
I want to reword it but I'm afraid of making a mistake. Any other thoughts?
resolved Possible edit war, spoilers on headers Videogame
Yuusha Fan has added a spoiler tag
on a header in this character page. I removed the tag
and then he added back in anyways
. The thing he added is literally a big time spoiler. Also there is no edit reasons, already DMed him about it. Can I undo that thing? I've already undid it once and I do not want to risk an edit war myself.
resolved Strange, complainy creator page
I just noticed that the creator page Creator.Ake Ohlmarks is, to say the least, a bit unusual. It starts as a normal creator page, saying that he was a Swedish scholar and author, and briefly lists some of his works and that he's infamous for his translation of The Lord of the Rings.
Then it launches into a long, detailed list of why this translation is so bad. This makes up about 95% of the page.
One take is that all this is pure complaining. The criticism is not unfair: he took far too many liberties with the source material and committed many outright translation errors, and Tolkien himself was not pleased. But, still, spending 95% of a creator page blasting one of his many works seems like complaining to me, no matter how deserved the criticism is.
You could argue that all this should just be cut as complaining. But the analysis is somewhat interesting, so I'm wondering whether it can be salvaged in some way, perhaps as an Analysis page. Or is it OK to have this on the Creator page? That's why I'm not taking this directly to Complaining cleanup.

the Cross-Dressing Voices entry on Trivia.SuperMarioBrosWonder, citing that Giselle Fernandez is "biologically female", though Giselle themself is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns.
I reverted the entry already and sent them a notifier before writing this query, but I have a feeling this may turn into a possible agenda in the long run.
