resolved Not sure if this counts as a subtrope of HateSink. Videogame
On Persona 5: Palace Rulers, I noticed the trope entry for Hate Sink on Suguru Kamoshida was dropped as he is also a More Hateable Minor Villain, and it was believed it was redundant given that is a subtrope of Hate Sink.
Thing is, I'm not sure he counts - he is a Starter Villain, but he's a massive catalyst for not only the first arc, but also the formation of the main party, their ideology, and in Royal, Takuto Maruki even being present in the story in the first place and everything to do with him.
resolved Strange formatting issue on one page Videogame
Despite the image and caption fields being filled in correctly, there's somehow a right square bracket present at the top of the page, even though there ideally shouldn't be one. In the code, it's supposed to correspond to part of the code to display the image and caption correctly. I tried reducing the square bracket count by exactly one, but that just broke the image and caption fields more than they should have. What else can be done to fix it?
resolved TimedMission example Videogame
Bringing this one over from Marvel Mystic Mayhem, as I'd be starting an edit war if I unilaterally changed it back:
Timed Mission was changed from:
- Each "Memento" challenge is accompanied by a Tactic Challenge side-mission, typically a solo battle for a single hero. These have a very short time limit for completion (e.g. 30 seconds) and are generally designed so that the heroes will die very quickly if they don't use the correct tactics.
- The "Nightfall" side-quest "Dragon Armor" has a time limit for defeating three groups of enemies and then winning the titular Boss Fight. The mission fails if Dragon Armor isn't defeated before time runs out. There's no lasting effect or loss of resources for failing Nightfall missions, so it can be attempted repeatedly.
- "Chest Challenge" is a set of five timed battles linked to the "Game of Khonshu" Mini-Game. Every victory in that game earns a lunar key that can be exchanged for a treasure chest, but the quality of the chests' contents is determined by the number of Chest Challenges cleared. There's no lasting effect or loss of resources for failing a challenge, so they can be attempted as many times as necessary.
To:
- Most battles have some timed element; either you earn one of three achievement stars for completing it within a certain time or you can fail altogether if you don't complete it before hitting a certain time limit. All but one resource-grinding mission ties all three stars, and their rewards, to different time thresholds (and the remaining one, Battle Bonanza: Secret Keeper, is still timed but instead counts enemies defeated in the time allotted).
The Timed Mission description states:
...so this feels like it's stretching too far, as well as removing detail. Ok to revert?
Or do we take the view that failing a timed mission without a penalty (loss of life, loss of resources, restart longer mission from start etc.) doesn't count?
(PM also sent, although I've had no reply yet)
It's an ever-growing mobile game and I suspect we'll have more examples of a hard 'mission failed' time limit as it grows, but that's not the default for the main story.
Edited by Mrph1resolved Want to link a video to a specific Character Sheet but there’s a problem Videogame
I’m not sure if this is the correct forum to post but I’d like to say that I’m new to editing on this site and I want to edit a very specific Character Sheet.
Let me explain.
I’ve been editing pages for Twisted-Wonderland for awhile and I want to add something specific to one their Heartslabyul Character Sheet.
You see recently, the characters belonging to the Heartslabyul Dorm just received their very own Leitmotif on the Aniplex You Tube channel. However, the official music video is region-locked so I’m not sure if I should even put it on the Character Sheet or put in a reupload that has the region-lock disabled.
Should I place the You Tube link of the official video into the Character Sheet or leave the Sheet as is?
Here is the URL by the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYqDDUxejvY
resolved Editing spelling errors in video descriptions Videogame
Hi, I don't edit all that often, I mostly fix links, names and spelling errors. In the article One-Handed Zweihänder, in one of the video examples, Saïx' name is misspelled as 'Siax' in the title and video description. Is there any way for me to edit that, or can only the uploader do that? 'Edit Videos' only gives me the option to upload a new one.
Edited by Supreme_Bananasresolved Can a boss be simultaneously ThatOneBoss and GoddamnedBoss? Videogame
The boss in question is Rhodeia of Loch (Oceanid) in Genshin Impact.
On That One Bosses' side, her summons hit hard.
On the Goddamned Bosses' side, she's annoying to speedrun. She cannot be hit directly and can only be defeated by defeating five waves of her summons. On top of that, between each waves her animations are lengthy.
EDIT: For the context, most world bosses (of which Rhodeia is one of them) can be speedran in <30 seconds with built teams.
Edited by Exaskliriresolved Undoing Formatting Errors Videogame
In Memes.Goddess Of Victory Nikke, Adams 23 changed the formatting of the page
, making it look broken on the page proper (probably caused by issues with the "Review Changes" button). While I'd like to revert and fix them, a problem is that I created the Memes.Goddess Of Victory Nikke page, so I'm afraid that I might create an edit war. I've heard that the edit war rules don't apply to edits that reinforce the rules and quality standards, so I wonder if undoing broken formatting is valid to that exception as well.
resolved FFXIV Quotes Page Videogame
I really didn't want that page cut... Someone needs to step up and make lyrics allowable! What if those lyrics were really, REALLY hard to find, like from an obscure game or anime that had their lyrics never officially released?!
Edited by XenithXenakuresolved Me when i lie on the internet. Bottom Text Videogame
Whenever a page image has the note about not removing it without first consulting Image Pickin, does it also apply to the caption underneath it?
There's one particular work page for an E Rated videogame that contains absolutely NO non-kid-friendly content, but the caption for it's image weirdly implies that the game has a First-Episode Twist that turns it disturbing/disgusting. I was going to remove it since it's so blatantly misleading, until I noticed the aforementioned note. Should something be done before i go ahead with it?
The page is Viva Piñata.
resolved Not even including the spoilers? Videogame
The game Rain World has a secret character campaign, you need to enter a special code for it. For some reason, none of the pages related to Rain World actually tropes this campaign. They mention it's hard and the ending is a dating sim, but for some reason nothing else about it. There are several tropes that could apply to this campaign on top of my head, so I'm baffled that apparently every editor in those pages decided to avoid even mentioning it. Said campaign is two years old already.
Should I just go ahead and trope it?
resolved Troper needing help with grammar, formatting, and zero context Videogame
stefanoiulli1999 has made multiple edits on AwesomeArt.Video Games recently. Most of the examples they added contain grammar errors such as nearly every word being capitalized. There are also some formatting errors such as work titles not being italicized, and also some zero context examples.
Their newest entry is a prime example of the grammar issues:
I don't want to judge them if they're struggling with English, but I thought you should be aware of this. I'll correct as many of their examples as I can, but I don't know what the right thing to say to them is.
Edited by DrNoPumaresolved Undertale CommonKnowledge on Trivia.YumeNikki Videogame
On Trivia.Yume Nikki ~CubeGET added an entry under Referenced by… for Undertale:
- Some of the NPCs in Undertale are inspired by those in Yume Nikki. This includes the nebulous "Mysteryman" that most people refer to as W.D Gaster due to incorrectly assuming they're one in the same. He looks extremely similar to Uboa.
I don't feel like the Common Knowledge bit belongs here. There is no concrete proof of what the entry is stating and said entry isn't on CommonKnowledge.Undertale either.
I tried removing that section (With an edit reason that admittedly didn't quite get across my thoughts corrrectly) though it was later reverted. I tried messaging cubeGET about this but he hasn't responded.
Edited by PROPLAYENresolved Possible Recap namespace misuse? Videogame
It’s a little thing I’ve been thinking ever I saw a Recap page for ULTRAKILL. It’s unlike most of the recap pages I’ve seen, which are indexes of pages that trope a specific episode. You could probably make a recap page for each and every level of the game, but that’s not what’s happening here.
The game begins with V1 about to enter the mouth of hell. The page begins with how God created the world. Yeah, the latter comes first chronologically, but the player sees the former first when they boot up the game.
I’m thinking that this page should be moved to the “Timeline” namespace, but I just wanted to make sure I got the differences between the Recap namespace (the timeline as how the viewers experience it) and Timeline namespace (chronological order) right.
Edited by MayumiWorldresolved "Broken Base" removal for remake? Videogame
Was checking my followed pages and saw a Broken Base entry removed from YMMV.Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door since the remake just released on Switch and thus hasn't passed the six month threshold at this point... despite the entry in question being written exclusively about the original game which is nearly 20 years old. I restored it on that basis, but I do believe the other user could potentially have a point here, so I'd like to ask for second opinions here.
- Broken Base: The overall quality of Chapter 4 is heavily contested. While almost no one will defend the gameplay part, with all its back-and-forth between Twilight Town and the Creepy Steeple, there's the argument of whether or not everything else in the chapter makes up for it. People who like Chapter 4 point to the atmosphere and visuals being some of the best in the game (particularly Twilight Trail), Doopliss being a great villain who provides lots of laughs while also coming dangerously close to ending Mario's adventure, this being the part where the much-lauded Vivian joins your party, and the "end of chapter" twist being an effective Player Punch. On the other hand, detractors are quick to point out how a good story arc doesn't mean anything if the act of playing through it all isn't fun or engaging. All in all, while it's agreed the chapter excels at everything besides the gameplay, whether you think it's good or bad depends on what you consider more important to the experience.
resolved Is this walkthrough mode? Videogame
On The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, I removed a Do Well, But Not Perfect entry since it read like Walkthrough Mode. When I sent a notif to the troper, they argued that it was valid. I tried to say it still read as walkthrough and I can't rewrite it without making it such. Do I'm asking if the entry is walkthrough mode.
- Do Well, But Not Perfect: The final battle against Ishmelga, aka Zoa Gilstein. If you target his precise weak point, The AI will always dodge and counterattack. The key to winning the battle is to just hit him in the "wrong" position, which won't stagger him but will still hurt him.
resolved Weblinks as examples Videogame
Ferot_Dreadnaught and I are disagreeing over what constitutes as a Weblinks Are Not Examples violation on the page Humans Advance Swiftly.
The following examples under Video Games don't have any Fanfic pages:
- This is noted in the Mass Effect story First Contact
. The specific example used were the automatically opening doors being featured on Star Trek, and then within only a year or two such doors were Defictionalized simply because people thought it was a cool idea. The asari explorer who makes first contact with humans is amazed at how swiftly the humans develop new technology so shortly after the idea for it was conceived.
- Another example from Mass Effect fanfiction is Transcendent Humanity
. While the Council civilization is stuck in a time warp — largely unchanged since its inception — Humanity has advanced all the way from destroying Earth's ozone layer by burning fossil fuels to become a full-blown Type II civilization. They lift matter from the Sun for energy consumption and basic construction material. This practice has actually extended the Sun's lifespan. Most of the population -- hovering around two trillion -- lives in quantum substrates, but can download themselves into on-demand bodies instantly, organic or robotic, as current circumstances demand. And that's really just the mundane, daily-grind stuff. Humans did all of this not merely inspite of, but because they did not discover the 'Mass Effect'. Humans did not develop FTL, A.I.s, interstellar colonization, or encounter another space-faring civilization for over two thousand years, and got along just fine. So much for the Magic Space Dust...
I used the percentage markup to hide the text, not delete it, pending someone creating a fanfic page for "First Contact" and "Transcendent Humanity" as they've done before with Mass Effect: End of Days. However, Ferot_Dreadnaught reverted the changes right back, insisting that "Weblinks Are Not Examples is when they just have a link instead of the context/explanation why they're examples. Those do explain the example even without the link so are valid." They've not replied to me asking for links to the appropriate fanfic pages.
resolved No Title Videogame
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/Warhammer40000Mechanicus2018
I created this new page for Mechanicus(the video released in 2018) because I wanted to specifically refer to it as a video game of Warhammer 40,000 featuring the Adeptus Mechanicus. And it was also because the character page redirected to the tabletop character page https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/Warhammer40000Mechanicus
rather than a character page with tropes related to the video game characters only. So I created the new page and then I requested that https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/Warhammer40000Mechanicus
be cut.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/Warhammer40000Mechanicus2018
And now all the examples for the new character page are all gone =(

The page for an Atari computer game named Nautilus is cut for the reason of being a stub. Is it okay to recreate the page if more information is given on the game?
resolved Can I make a forum about discussing FNF mods that need pages? If so, where? Videogame
I was wondering if I could make a forum about discussing what Friday Night Funkin' mods people think they need pages. After all, while there are already pages covering a lot of mods, there are millions of other FNF mods that tropers may want them to have pages.

Hello. Would anyone be interested in contributing to adding a Nightmare Fuel section to the Little Big Planet video game? It would be great to do a nostalgic compilation throughout this game, as well as dedicate specific pages to iconic levels of the game (both from the story mode and the community).
