resolved No Title Film
Considering the ban on potholing trope names in example lists, should we make a separate self-demonstrating page for Attack of the The Eye Creatures in order to maintain the "the the" joke?
We have precedent, as Gadsby received a self-demonstrating page for this reason.
resolved No Title
Hoo boy, Bowdler.Bowdlerise is a mess.
- Is there any reason the namespace is Bowdler rather than SelfDemonstrating?
- The main self-demonstration is altering the page to make Bowdlerisation and Media Watchdogs seem positive, rather than actually censoring anything.
- The page didn't receive the "removal of spoiler tags above the examples line" update that the main Bowdlerise page did, which is both inconsistent with the main page and a violation of our spoiler-tag policy. The page quote and image caption probably need to be dumped entirely, as there is no way to make them work on a "proper" self-demonstration without including spoiler tags.
With that in mind, I've created Sandbox.Bowdlerise as a better example of self-demonstration.

resolved Iran-Iraq War Page Quote
I was brought into an offsite discussion on the page quote of the Iran–Iraq War page, a page I myself namespaced from Iran-Iraq War in 2014. Anyone know who said it?
Here's the original page's history
, but it doesn't go back far enough.
resolved Causes of death on Famous Last Words Pages Film
On the Famous Last Words for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems that the cause of death of the person speaking the last words is included with the names of the person. Most other pages don't do that and some of the example come across as rather lengthy and unnecessary. Here's an example Agent Antoine "Trip" Triplett, who smashes the Obelisk to try to stop whatever was happening, but thinks that Skye was fatally petrified and that he made a Senseless Sacrifice. He himself ultimately gets Taken for Granite and shattered before he Skye break free and reawaken as the Inhuman, Quake.. If the page is just meant to show the last words, is all that really necessary?
resolved Notify Page Move
How do I notify the admins that a page should be moved, if I can't (or don't want to) do the move myself for technical reasons?
resolved Living Macguffin or...?
I'm a little confused about this trope and how given that it's supposed to be a macguffin made into a person (which to my understanding seems like a person whose only purpose is to move the plot ...and not much of anything else), which means that there should be a difference between this trope and say... Apocalypse Maiden, The Chosen One, or Sealed Inside a Person-Shaped Can
I understand how overlap is possible but when does a character go from being a mere Living MacGuffin to any of these other tropes about a character relevant to the plot in one way or another? Or are ALL of those characters inherent macguffins? I mean since the trope itself is divided into more categories -some of which feel either really narrow or way too broad - and the main page description mentions the chosen one trope and at no point makes the distinction about the whole thing.
EDIT:
@Xtifr: Thank you for the answer, but now I see that I need to clarify a little more:
I know that in the most basic level Living MacGuffin has little if any to do with the tropes I listed before, my confusion comes from the fact that in the Macguffin page we have this laconic description:
An object that, while not relevant to the main narrative, is frequently pursued throughout it.
Whereas the Living MacGuffin has this one:
A plot object that is a person.
So, follwing these thread, my question basically boils down to this: In a narrative context, when or how does a character stop being a Living MacGuffin? For example you said that this person's value is determined more by other characters and how much they pursue it rather than for the overall plot right? So this character could be a princess or a diplomat who at the end of the day doesn't not accomplish much but their purpose to the story is met for the simple fact that they are wanted people in the setting right? But a character with an established personality who happens to grab the Distress Ball is not right? Or a character who is The Heart of the team and is pursued for their importance to the main characters, or ( sorry I swear this is the last example) an established character (with personality, motives and connections to other characters) who is pursued by some unknown attribute that for a while is not specified to the audience so for a while they are indeed a Macguffin of sorts, their pursue fuels the plot at least half of the time, and at some point their importance in indeed a pivotal part of the Bad Guy's evil plot? Are they still a Living MacGuffin?
Hope this is not too convoluted or something.

In Kamen Rider.
On 20th Feb '17 5:55:07 AM, Ryulong remove fan-speak term from description with edit reason "don't use that it's stupid as shit".
On 21st Feb '17 5:40:54 AM, Wolf Thunder add it back and claim that Ryulong edit is rude.
Personally, I agree with Ryulong that the term doesn't make sense (I think Western fanbase of Kamen Rider is too small to worth noting their lingo). And while their edit reason is bad, it's direct at the term itself, not editor.
Too bad, checking history, this isn't the first time Ryulong remove it. So it is Edit War.
resolved Fanfic self-recommendation on FanficRecs/RWBY Web Original
(Why do the RWBY pages get so much attention here?)
Skybrigadier, the author of The Reactsverse, recommended Weiss Reacts (the verse's first entry) on RWBY's Fanfic Recs page.
I've removed it from the page, under the assumption that any following recommendations are in reaction (heh) to the illicit self-rec. Allowing Weiss Reacts to stay on the page despite initially being self-recced would set a very bad precedent for fanfic recs pages.
Edited by bwburke94resolved The Colonial Period
As The Colonial Period has been moved to the Useful Notes namespace, the name sounds too generalizing to non-American tropers, such as myself whose country had two colonial periods. Mind if I suggest renaming it to The American Colonial Period or The Thirteen American Colonies as to make it specific to the US colonial period?

resolved Self-demonstrating works pages?
I just came across the Pygmy page, where the plot description and all the examples are written in imitation of the narrator's idiosyncratic prose style. The author deliberately chose the prose style to make it unclear what was going on, which is fine in a novel but I think is unhelpful in an informative web page. Is there a policy covering this?
resolved Can I make new Image Picking thread on same topic with old one in morgue?
On Lethal Joke Item again. There used to be one thread, but it got locked and the trope itself got TRS treatment. Now that's done and it's clear that the image, despite being picked by IP, doesn't illustrate the trope (and possibly misuse, hard to tell since the entries of the image source are ZCE).
Edited by Kuruniresolved Nostalgia Critic Awesome Moments Web Original
On the Nostalgia Critic Awesome Moments page, there is a bit of conflict over whether this example from the Blues Brothers 2000 review should be included: "The Critic's constant tearing into Blues Brothers 2000 for being a severe downgrade of the original. He even goes out of character at a few points, one in which he interrupts his "Fuckital" ad to show the statue of The Blues Brothers atop the Hollywood Blvd. Theater to show how the original movie is such a symbol of Chicago." Some people said this shouldn't be included because in the skit, there was a Black Comedy bit where one of the characters overdoses on the "Fuckital" and is implied to have died, with them saying that it shouldn't be an awesome moment because the Critic was more concerned with a bad movie than someone else's life. While in-universe, it may be the Critic being selfish, from a meta perspective, the creator, Doug Walker was making a statement about the movie's poor quality and calls out how it fails to live up to the original film. So should it be included?

resolved SelfDemonstrating Namespace

Edited by bwburke94resolved LongStory's Namespace Videogame
Is it okay to move LongStory's namespace from Video Game to Visual Novel because it is the latter, going by the way it is presented? If so, how do I do it without damaging the page itself?
