resolved Custom title question Videogame
Here
, a mod said that the custom title for VideoGame.Xenoblade Chronicles 1 has gone back and forth over making the 1 visible or invisible, and it currently remains visible. But what were the arguments for making it visible and not hidden by the custom title, since it’s not part of the game’s actual title? The invisible “1” is common practice for first instalments to separate them from the overall franchise.

resolved I don't want to start an edit war, but... Videogame
So, I recently made a page for Kamalatale. It's a parody of Undertale that is lighthearted enough for people not to worry about ROCEJ, and it's enjoyed by both sides of the political spectrum, and it has a lot of tropes in it.
However.
The most recent edit to that page is from a troper who appears to have done nothing but insert (((triple parentheses))) around certain words, and to turn the sentence "Kamala Harris is Black in real life" into "Kamala Harris is (half) black in real life".
For those who are not aware, triple parentheses
is a form of antisemitic hate speech. This has no place on TV Tropes and shows up nowhere in the game. As such I am forced to conclude that the troper is doing this as a form of trolling or to spread bigotry.
resolved Is this a misuse of Flower Mouth? Videogame
Previously discussed on the is this an example thread, but bringing it here since I haven’t gotten a response: Ok, so a month ago, I made an video example of the Chapter 4 trailer
of Poppy Playtime where Yarnaby's face splits open vertically and looking back at it, I think I might've misuse Flower Mouth because way his face slit open wasn't very flower-like. Which is weird because it got approved when I uploaded it. The character folder referred to this as Body Horror so idk maybe I should move the video example there. Thoughts?
resolved Diesel Punk or Oceanpunk? Videogame
I really like the look and feel of this videogame called The Brew Barons, a Ghibli-inspired video game where you fly seaplanes, collect items to brew different kinds of alcohol, and fight off sky pirates (just like the epitomous Porco Rosso).
I don't own the game nor can my laptops run it so even if I want to write the page, I'm sadly out of the loop. So as a sort of bookmark, I thought to make it a red link for the time being, hoping either I get to play it one day for myself or someone else makes the page for the rest of us. However, I don't know whether to put it in Ocean Punk or Diesel Punk, or if I should even make a redlink at all.
resolved Editing spelling errors in video descriptions Videogame
Hi, I don't edit all that often, I mostly fix links, names and spelling errors. In the article One-Handed Zweihänder, in one of the video examples, Saïx' name is misspelled as 'Siax' in the title and video description. Is there any way for me to edit that, or can only the uploader do that? 'Edit Videos' only gives me the option to upload a new one.
Edited by Supreme_Bananasresolved About Katriel Videogame
Today a troper named Katriel posted a theory on Choices: Stories You Play the problem is it's completely written badly to the point no one can understand it, here it is.
"What more deconstructive/ subversive/ satirical takes on standard choices archetypes and genres could look like A work story with all of the elements of typical choices work stories : a competition in place , a jealous rival willing to resort to any means to dethrone us from the top , an unusually physically attractive boss ... except the job in question is sewage treatment and any [[romance sleeping with the boss ]] is off the table for whatever reason , [[constantly lampshade how dubiously legal the affair is better than a bare bulb ]] , or [[mercilessly deconstruct the trope deconstructed trope]] by underscoring how [[horrifying played for horror]] it would actually be to work under a charismatic , experienced , and halo effect inducingly beautiful person who is attracted to you ... but the feeling is not mutual. Worse yet , all your friends and coworkers dismiss, downplay, and even [[ship you shipper on deck]] with your predator, to the point where they cannot stop [[gushing about how amazing and great they are Creators pet]]. All in all, the [[ultimate message of the story is central theme]] that while not all jobs can or should be necessarily glamorized, they are still important to keep society running and, as a matter of fact might be far more important than many of those "glamorous" careers. A romance from [[ the perspective of perspective flip]] the "other woman" rival seen in more recent romances. In a manner akin to [[ Crazy ex-Girlfriend]] we could delve into the forces that [[psychologically Freudian excuse]] made her into the person she is. Perhaps the plot could focus on her attempts to actually keep a romantic partner after a long history of being dumped by (and in one case [[left at the alter]] by) so many former flames. [[This time never be hurt again]], our heroine chooses to model herself after the sweet [[ childhood friends]] and the [[ maniac pixie dream girls]] that she was dumped for; as well as [[Rom - Com Protagonists in general genre savvy]]. An [[ inversion]] of the "Hollywood" stories that are the bread and butter of so many VN apps like this one. In other words [[ the player character would begin the story with a mansion , a steady partner , and immense fame to an obscure star living out in middle America ; eeking out a living riches to rags]] . It could be a capital "T" [[ Tragedy]] following a once reknowned Writer,Director , and performer from the [[ pre- Hays code]] era as they struggle against greater powers to include radical themes within their projects. [[ Ultimately , though foregone conclusion]] they [[downer ending lose all they once had]] including their [[ mansion]] , respect amung filmmaking elites , and their partner to the fears inflamed by the [[ red scare]] , the [[extreme censorship that smothered their ability to tell the stories they needed to tell bowdlerized]] , and the [[passage of time that obscured their name look upon my works ye mighty and despair]]. The [[frame story]] could center around some [[ greek chorus podcasters]] helping a curator collect interviews and personal objects from the protagonists life , therefore justifying a "collection minigame ", in order to exhibit for a new section on <span style="font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"> [[ pre- Hays code]] era" ^ (what Katriel typed not me)
Should we send Katriel a notifer to type their sentences better so we can understand them?
Edited by Ryckmanhresolved About kkj12345... (again) Videogame
The troper kkj12345 was just unsuspended 4 days ago, and is already back to his usual complaining problems. Here's what I'm talking about.
1. He's still got a Single-Issue Wonk problem about Hot Shot being a smut book, over an actual sports focused book.
2. He's even gone as far to bait other people on the Choices wiki into answering that Book 2 would follow Book 1's footsteps, accuse them of being a downer when they agreed, and got angry at UFOYeah/Overloadxyz for calling him out on that.
^
(Source:https://choices-stories-you-play.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000001469521/r/4400000000008027273)
3. He also try to fear-monger the users on Choices wiki to believe that All of Us was going to be the last Choices book ever, just because it was about LGBTQIA+ representation.
So what this shows us is kkj12345/General Khor has not changed his ways at all, right?
Edited by Ryckmanhresolved What to do with VideoGame/PillarOfFlame? Videogame
Yesterday I sent Pillar Of Flame to the Cut List because it's a stub and the page creator failed to respond to a stub notifier about it for over a week. The cut request was challenged by ~Willowleaf 24 with the reasoning that "Character page tropes can be moved back to the main page to make it not a stub".
Now obviously normally character tropes belong in a Characters/ page rather than on the main page, but in cases such as this work, is what they are suggesting legitimate? I've not managed to find anything in Administrivia/ that leans one way or the other.
resolved Which Trope is this/would this be a new trope? Videogame
What trope should be used for the practice of re-using existing "close enough" assets in-game to stand in for something else similar. Ie the Snipers in the Payday
◊ series
◊ using short assault rifles instead of actual sniper rifles due to a lack of such weapons in the base game. Prop Recycling Recycled Animation Limited Animation.
resolved Can a boss be simultaneously ThatOneBoss and GoddamnedBoss? Videogame
The boss in question is Rhodeia of Loch (Oceanid) in Genshin Impact.
On That One Bosses' side, her summons hit hard.
On the Goddamned Bosses' side, she's annoying to speedrun. She cannot be hit directly and can only be defeated by defeating five waves of her summons. On top of that, between each waves her animations are lengthy.
EDIT: For the context, most world bosses (of which Rhodeia is one of them) can be speedran in <30 seconds with built teams.
Edited by Exaskliriresolved How to AKA character pages / make a universal character page Videogame
Making two media pages in the same franchise, which shares similar casts, and would like there to be one character page that links to them both.
Similar accomplished with the https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/Warhammer40000SpaceMarine
page, with Space Marine II linking to it via "AKA", but I've never had to do this myself until now. Like to know what page contains instructions to accomplish this.
resolved Sayacha's Questionable edit under FF7 Rebirth YMMV Videogame
Reporting an agenda-based troper. They deleted this entry
under Epileptic Trees without giving a valid reason why, even though it's a harmless theory and within the boundaries of what Epileptic Trees can be as far as I'm aware. I can only think it's because of biased shipping agenda on their part. Months ago, they even made sweeping changes
under Ship to Ship Combat to be heavily biased toward the Cloud and Tifa pairing, which I reported earlier.
Edit: Troper finally responded and apologized for their actions in private messages. Locking the matter as resolved.
Edited by 9thOutworldsManresolved Undoing Formatting Errors Videogame
In Memes.Goddess Of Victory Nikke, Adams 23 changed the formatting of the page
, making it look broken on the page proper (probably caused by issues with the "Review Changes" button). While I'd like to revert and fix them, a problem is that I created the Memes.Goddess Of Victory Nikke page, so I'm afraid that I might create an edit war. I've heard that the edit war rules don't apply to edits that reinforce the rules and quality standards, so I wonder if undoing broken formatting is valid to that exception as well.
resolved Cutting Oddity RPG pages Videogame
Folks, it's time to face facts: Oddity is never coming out. It's been five years since the initial announcement trailer with no major updates afterwards, over 17 years since the project started development as Mother 4, and the hype for this game has all but dried up. Since all of the Mother 4 pre-release material has been made obsolete and mostly deleted from the internet, we only have one trailer and a Twitter page that is barely updated to go off of.
When I did a second clean-up (the first clean-up was mostly to remove gushing) removing anything that went off of outdated (pre-rebrand) material or Word of God (which isn't allowed), there was barely anything left. On the Characters page alone, many of the folders were blank and that was before I touched them.
Also worth noting that there were a ton of commented out examples on the Characters page which I removed (there were also a bunch on the main page too before I cut those during my first clean-up). Commenting out examples on an unreleased work in anticipation for the work's release is also not allowed.
Yes, there is gameplay footage in the trailer but it barely tells us anything other than "it's a Mother-inspired RPG." Not much of a premise, and certainly not enough to warrant a page, especially when no information regarding the story, setting, and characters have been revealed afterwards. Literally the only information we have about the setting is "It takes place in a small town in 70s America." There are ten tropes on the main page but half of them are about the Modern Mind enemy instead of the game itself or the overall setting of the game. There's no release date, and at this rate there never will be.
Taking all of this into account I feel there is no longer a viable work page. I propose a cut of Oddity's pages and the material in Oddity's main page be moved to Release Date-Less Work Descriptions in the event the game does get a release.

resolved Monster Chef Videogame
So I'm writing the page for Monster Chef, a game by Coconut Island Studio. I haven't actually finish the game (still a long way), but here is the current page:
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Sandbox/MonsterChef
As you can see, I haven't found a big enough image for the page yet. Also, as it turns out, there is another "Monster Chef" game by studiopizza
. Is case someone made the other Monster Chef page, is there anyway to distinguish between the two?
resolved Sandbox/Tchia Videogame
Dear All, I wanted to add some tropes to a video game I'm currently playing, Tchia. The video game page for it was deleted with the message "Note: This page was cut for reason: After removing a "trope" that isn't actually a trope, the page is now a stub(...) You may want to ask in Ask The Tropers about whether it's safe to recreate."
However, there is a sandbox page available which actually contains around ten tropes (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Sandbox/Tchia)
, so I don't really understand what's happening here. Is this just a mistake? Can the sandbox page be taken over to be the main works page again?
resolved Naming of Cookie Run Epic Cookies (Ovenbreak) characters page Videogame
Currently, the Cookie Run Epic Cookie character pages for the OvenBreak version are split into the following pages:
- Characters.Cookie Run Epic Cookies (for part one, which confusingly has a duplicate page)
- Characters.Cookie Run Epic Cookies Season Five Onward (for part two, of which Characters.Cookie Run Epic Cookies Part Two was deleted as a duplicate page)
- Characters.Cookie Run Epic Cookies Part Three (for part three??)
Would it be better to keep the naming convention by season number for OvenBreak or change it to a more general one like part 1/2/3 like with the CookieRun: Kingdom Epic Cookie character pages? I'm not sure if I should ask here or make a dedicated thread on the forums/discussion page.
EDIT: just realised there's a dedicated thread on the forums for character page cleanup. Will also ask there.
Edited by PeppermintSodaresolved Marvel Rivals Edit War Videogame
Over on Marvel Rivals – Strategists, there's been a back and forth between users Ikea Han and Shinobi about labeling Rocket Raccoon's image as either Killer Rabbit or Pint-Sized Powerhouse.

I found JustForFun.The Sims by chance today and it’s just 2 entries of peoples personal Sims gameplay experiences.
Not only is this probably a JFF violation, this strikes me as very Troper Tales-y and I don’t think it’s appropriate to have. What should be done?
