openBows and Errors Issue
Scrolling Bows and Errors and I'm noticing a lot of people citing the keeping a bow strung thing for situations where unstringing it would make no sense like temporarily "holstering" during a combat mission or carrying it around for potential self-defense in a fantasy setting

What do I move Creator.Aja to? She's a Actress, but also a Rapper, apparently, so I was going to move her to Creator.Aja Rapper...
But rappers are Music, so shouldn't it be Music.Aja Rapper then I turn Music.Aja into a disambig?
Or some other name, still in the Creator namespace and Creator.Aja becomes a disambig between the current and Aja Naomi King?
At least the itself is real easy:

openSelf-report for a possible edit war
I don't know how to word something like this, so I'll make a timeline of events that happened:
- On June 9 2021, felt_toycat added this edit
on Terry Gilliam.
- The edit was later taken down
on June 29 2021 with the edit reason "I don't think that should be included here."
- The edit was added back by the same person who wrote it
on June 28, 2022.
- I took the edit down
today for being a ROCEJ violation.
I'm just asking: did I take part in an edit war? I don't think the rules for an edit war apply if the edit breaks the rules, but I just want to make sure.
openHow the subpages for Early Installment Weirdness are listed
Early-Installment Weirdness has grown so much that there's many separate subpages for different franchises. That in and of itself isn't a problem, however by now the list of pages looks, to me at least, bloated and unwieldy in size.

openQuestion about Definition Only Tropes and potholes
So, do Definition-Only Pages allow potholes. I ask because on YMMV.The Devil Wears Prada there's this Alternate Aesop Interpretation thing example:
- The Take
posits that another interpretation is less "holding true to your morals" vs "selling out," and more about finding a healthy balance between being invested in your job without falling into its toxic or destructive tendencies. Andy starts off thinking the fashion industry is beneath her and is rightly called out for it, but once she applies herself she outstrips Emily as Miranda's preferred assistant. Meanwhile, Emily is so devoted to her job that she's a Nervous Wreck, Extreme Doormat, and Professional Butt-Kisser who is literally killing herself to please an unappreciative Miranda (goes on starvation diets, works even when sick, and is hospitalized due to being so distracted running errands for Miranda that she gets hit by a car). Whereas when Andy realizes she's becoming too invested in her industry's cutthroat and back-stabbing politics, she takes a step back and decides to pursue the career she really does want.
The Take: So, like Emily, we can all stand to learn that a job is just a job.- The Take
Now the reason I am asking is that Hello 83433 removed
the Static Character pothole from the quote citing "Dewicking as Static Character is now Definition Only" and then rjd1922 added
the pothole back citing "Definition-Only Pages allow potholes". So I am kinda of confused due they allow potholes like this are not.
openVanillaEdition
Should Vanilla Edition be a trope or a Trivia item? It's not technically a part of the work itself, but how it's released; compare DVD Commentary and Early-Bird Release, which also involve home video tropes.
openCan I give the BECK manga its own set of pages? Anime
I'm talking about Beck. It's currently sharing sub-pages with the musician Beck, as well as an unrelated movie. Being a diehard fan of this series, I'd like to make the usual suite of pages for the manga/anime (Character page, Funny, Heartwarming, YMMV etc.), to avoid sharing with the musician and movie. The BECK manga has an official alternate title, "BECK - Mongolian Chop Squad" or just "BECK - MCS", and I was thinking if I could just go for it. Would I be allowed to do this myself? Thank you in advance!
Edited by pottskiopenQuestion about Graceful Loser
So I looked at the Graceful Loser page and was surprised to find that it specified that it was a trope for villains only. Mainly because of the name. Which got me wondering if it should be taken to the trope repair shop, because the title implies it's broader than it actually is, which seems like an open invitation for misuse.
I'd have gone to TRS myself, but I can't figure out how to make a post there. Does anyone here know how to solve this issue?
openIs it alright to discard someone else's draft?
So there's a TLP draft
that's been gathering bombs as its a stub and already covered by The Napoleon. It now has 11 bombs (including one from myself) and I feel that it's enough as IMO it's clear that it needs to be discarded. However am I allowed to do that or only the sponsor and mods are allowed to discard drafts?
EDIT: Whelp, the draft got discarded but I still would like to know just in case.

openWriter Conflicts With Canon Misuse? (repost)
Asked prior ATT
and Is this an example?
about these but got no feedback.
- The Rise of Skywalker establishes that Supreme Leader Snoke was actually a failed clone created by Palpatine, with several other Snokes visible in vats on Exegol. This directly contradicts previous declarations that Snoke had been around for many decades, and that Palpatine only learned about his existence shortly before his death at the end of Return of the Jedi.
WCWC is when Word of God conflicts with canon. I believe this was All There in the Manual material that was contradicted as opposed to out of work creator statements. What to do?
- According to the Sonic 4 web site, Sonic and Knuckles' levels and stories take place at the exact same time in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Fans noted that there was tons of evidence within the game itself that Knuckles' story is after Sonic's story. Examples include Angel Island Zone Act 1 showing only the sky in the background instead of the ocean, Eggman's Death Egg is missing in the background for Launch Base Zone and Lava Reef Zone Act 2, the ghosts in Sandopolis Zone Act 2 are already wandering around at the start (you later find the container that held them was already broken by Sonic), and Mecha Sonic appears to fight Knuckles at the end of the game since he didn't explode when Sonic defeated him previously. This was rectified by later material stating that it indeed took place after Sonic's campaign.
Would a official website be All There in the Manual as opposed to Word of God?
Anyplace else to ask?
Edited by Ferot_DreadnaughtopenExamples of Tropes Attempted, but Perhaps Failed Videogame
I find myself with a trope that I want to add to a page—but one in which, in my opinion, the trope was attempted but failed at. How should such a thing be approached...?
To be a little more specific:
In the game ShadowCaster, the player has access to a number of forms into which they can shapeshift, each having benefits and drawbacks. One form might be fast and strong, another slow but with ranged attacks, etc.
So, Multiform Balance has been implemented, one might note.
Except... that the forms are, in my opinion, not actually particularly balanced. For example, the above-mentioned "slow-but-ranged" character does have some good ranged abilities... but they rely on and quickly consume a somewhat-hard-(or-slow)-to-recover resource. What's more, that resource is shared between forms, so that one form consuming it means that it's less available for other forms to use. What's more, the form is, as mentioned, slow—painfully slow, I find.
But all of that is, of course, YMMV. Perhaps there are others out there who find the forms well-balanced!
So I'm not sure of how to proceed. My instinct is to note the attempt, and also note that it didn't work. But on the other hand, that's perhaps insufficiently objective for a main-page trope. On the third hand, however, to not mention it might suggest that the forms actually are balanced...
Hence my uncertainty! So: What do you advise?
Berserk Button: misusing Berserk Button
open A possible issue with some picture captions
In Characters.Spookys Jump Scare Mansion, each of the character pictures have a caption with a quote that doesn’t actually reference the work itself, but serves as a Shout-Out to another work maybe tangentially related to the picture (for example, the caption for Specimen 2, a slime monster, references Ghostbusters (1984)). Is this acceptable, or should they be removed on account of having nothing to do with the actual work?
openSome questions about translations
I consume Korean media but don't understand the language myself. How do I write information that didn't make it to the English translation?
- One character's surname is revealed to be "강" (Gang or Kang) outside of the story proper. As far as I remember, all names in the official translation use "k" instead of "g", so is it safe to assume the same for this name?
- A two-season webcomic has its first season translated in English but not its second season. The second season is available in French, along with a subtitle. What do I do about the subtitle? The French translation also hyphenates the names while the English translation doesn't. Should I remove the hyphens from names of season two characters? (Edit: I also have a question about nicknames.)
openNew Work Proposal Videogame
I would like to make a page for Disney's Hide and Sneak, a GameCube title that more or less is a spiritual sequel to Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse a year prior. But I honestly don't know where to begin. I know a few tropes that'll help create the page itself, but some beginner's tips would be greatly appreciated.
Edited by HarmonyBunny2000openLego Star Wars western animation article Western Animation
The fact that there was a whole section in the LEGO Star Wars page devoted to the mostly-unrelated cartoons just kept bugging me:
For a more concise list of entries, the LEGO Star Wars series consists of: [...]
- LEGO Star Wars The Padawan Menace (2011): A young orphan named Ian sneaks onto a Jedi younglings' field trip to the Senate building, but their chaperone Yoda senses a disturbance in the Force…
- LEGO Star Wars The Empire Strikes Out (2012)
- LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles (2013-2014): An original series spanning the Prequel and Original Trilogies as our heroes seek to prevent the Sith from producing an army of Sith clones. Rebranded as LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles after the Disney buyout.
- LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales (2015): A five-part miniseries comedically retelling the Original Trilogy, Prequel Trilogy, and an episode of Star Wars Rebels from the perspective of C-3PO, R2-D2, and Admiral Ackbar.
- LEGO Star Wars The Resistance Rises (2016): A series of shorts set shortly before The Force Awakens, centered on the movie's main cast.
- LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (2016-2017): A two-season show set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, nearing the beginning of the latter. The series focuses on the Freemaker siblings, a family that runs a ship repair shop and finds themselves thrown into the war when their youngest brother Rowan discovers his Force-sensitivity and the ancient Kyber Saber.
- LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars (2018): An anthology series focusing on various Star Wars characters throughout the Skywalker Saga, including the previous and next generation of the Freemakers.
- The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special (2020): A holiday special set after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Rey and BB-8's time-traveling adventures throughout the Skywalker Saga after discovering a powerful Force artifact on Life Day's Eve.
- LEGO Star Wars: Terrifying Tales (2021): A Halloween special set after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Poe and BB-8 traveling to the now-derelict Vader's Castle on Mustafar and being told terrifying tales by the Darth's former attendant Vanee.
- LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation (2022): A summer special set after The Rise of Skywalker.
And it got to a point where I cut all of the above out of that page entirely. Now the real question is, should we spin off that content into a separate index of sorts under WesternAnimation/LegoStarWars or not? Part of me thinks maybe we shouldn't make an index for these because they're already covered in other pages like LEGO, Star Wars Legends or Star Wars Expanded Universe, but I want to see what others think before I can make any decision for myself.
Edited by AngrokVaopen How to create a constant link in character page? Videogame
I created a separate character page for Claire Redfield in Resident Evil (because it's an abomination that Ada Wong would have one but not her), but I'm wondering whether I need to go through each individual character page in the series and manually generate the link to the page itself or if there's a way to easily index it somewhere?
openJurisdiction Friction in Star Trek
In the Star Trek TOS episode "The Doomsday Machine", the conflict between Kirk, Spock and Decker is listed under Jurisdiction Friction, and this example is also cited on the Jurisdiction Friction page itself. My POV is that I really don't regard this example as Jurisdiction Friction. None of them are arguing or concerned about who has jurisdiction, they're arguing about who is in command. Two different things. They're all Star Fleet officers. If anything, it would be Artistic License – Military. Spock did have to give up command of the Enterprise when Decker pulled rank. However, as soon as Decker announced that he was going to try and attack the Doomsday Machine when everyone knew the Enterprise's weapons couldn't scratch it Spock should have simply said "that's insane, you're relieved. Security, get him out of here." It also heads into Surprisingly Realistic Outcome when Kirk orders Spock to assume command. Decker tries to say Kirk doesn't have the authority to do that but Kirk actually does, he's Captain of the Enterprise and Decker's plan is clearly insane. Anyway, that's my perspective but I wanted to get feedback from tropers before I started editing.
Edited by Traveler123openInappropriate entry re-added to YMMV/TheLoudHouse Western Animation
A week ago, Braz re-added the entry below to YMMV.The Loud House, which was previously added and then removed after being mentioned in this past query
(the reasoning was because it was considered too creepy and misuse of the YMMV item).
- Fanwork-Only Fans: It's becoming increasingly common for fans to engage themselves in the fanart community rather than the show itself. This is due to three reasons: one, the TLH fandom is generally a highly active community, with fan works galore that often go beyond what the show is constrained to, either darkly so or within the series' lightered premise. Two, the show built up a notorious reputation for its gargantuan amounts of Rule 34, mainly involving Brother–Sister Incest and lolicon. It's not uncommon for people to be introduced to the series via Loudcest, especially since there's a highly popular Fan Verse centered around it. Lastly, some people just consider the show to be too generic to invest in, and find the fan works to be far more interesting.
I'm calling for the entry to be deleted again, since it's exactly the same as the past version.

Room 101 currently has this paragraph in the description:
I think it doesn't belongs there. As far as I understand, Room 101 is about the location where something horrible occurs, so horrible that the audience never witness the act itself yet the effect on the character is so clear that nobody question it. This paragraph is focus on the torture method (as noted, never actually seen in the work) and not the location.
