openRegarding Website/Pixiv search tags. Web Original
It seems that after applying links for the Pixiv work page's "troped tags" section, the search tag function doesn't seem to work in Pixiv because all the Japanese texts are automatically converted to unicode, nor can the tags be linked to Pixiv dictionary. It's not just mine, but it also happens to other links. Is there anything I can do? Or should all the listed tropes be converted into only about the site itself?
Edited by MhazardopenIs this really Woolseyism? Web Original
I found this in Manga Soprano. To my understanding a Woolseyism is a change that people like but I think this example is just "Blind Idiot" Translation.
In the Japanese version
So what do I do with this example?
Edited by mickey96openYMMV.PokemonRusty Edit war Web Original
On December 1st, 2015, The Jayman 49 added an Designated Hero to YMMV.Pokemon Rusty even though the trope cannot apply (Designated Hero requires the narrative and other characters to treat a character as an ideal hero even though said "ideal hero" is a jerkass or worse). I removed it on December 18th that same year on grounds of it being factually incorrect.
Then, on the 29th of April this year, The Jayman 49 re-added it, and is now trying to claim the audience reaction is deliberately invoked even though, from the context of the series itself, it isn't. Here is the extended edit history detailing it
.
[ETA] I checked the discussion page, and there was no discussion on the subject.
Edited by TheNerfGuyopenSo, I want to create a work page for my review series? Web Original
Hello. I'll admit is kind of selfish, but, I used to work on a series of reviews for many years, even having some sort of mascot for it, and I wish to create a work page for it on this site. However, what rules should the workpage should have, since, well, you know, is my own work and I think there should be a restriction to it, right?
openSelf-Pimping: "Radio For Gamers" Web Original
User DJ_MixDoctor has created a page and four wicks to it for his own podcast, "Radio For Gamers." He isn't even trying to be sneaky about it (the page and one of the wicks leading to it are written in first-person), which tells me he probably just doesn't know how we do things here. I'd provide a link to the podcast itself as well, but in spite of all this he hasn't actually linked to it at any point or even said where it's hosted.
Edited by Dirtyblue929openHow could I shorten the Red vs. Blue WMG page? Web Original
It's too ridiculously long. I'd like to shorten & reorganize it myself, but I've never had to do something like this before. I don't know where to start. Can someone help?
open"bloat" definition. Web Original
So I stumbled across the useful notes / Asperger syndrome page. Since I myself am an aspie, I naturally thought I could provide *very* helpful input there. But when I clicked the edit button, I was taken to the "locked page" article (I'm somewhat new to this site, so it was only then that I even learned about the lock mechanism). So I did as the description instructed, but saw that the Asperger syndrome article was locked because it "Attracted bloat." Those were the only two words in the entire explanation, and neither were blue. So can someone explain to me what "bloat" is? Also, This Very Wiki falls under Web original, right?
openWorks page made for a single video questions Web Original
I noticed someone made a trope page for AI Pajama Sam, which is based off of a youtuber (DougDoug) playing Pajama Sam in "No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside" using an AI voice program. I'm unsure why it exists or if it needs to, but I wanted to mention it since it feels odd it was made.
The video it was made for was a decently length one, but it is so far the only one Doug has made, and stuff it mentions can be done on his own Web Video page. Is this something that really should be done? The page itself is somewhat barebones and even has a character page now, but it feels unnecessary to make a page for a single video like that. I think it should be deleted for now, but wanted to get feedback on this.
Edited by keyblade333openWhere should I put The Worf Effect? Web Original
I'm still clean up Characters.SCP Foundation from time to time. There're several examples of The Worf Effect across those pages, about various skips that the Foundation is simply unable to do anything meaningful with it.
The question is, is The Worf Effect a plot trope (the defeat of strong character) or character trope (the strong character that keep get his ass kicked)? The laconic page of The Worf Effect suggest that the trope's focus is the character, but the trope description seems to indicate that the focus is the event itself.
Edited by KuruniopenWhich Tropes Are These? Web Original
I have questions about tropes in The JWL. I think these might be examples of Morton's Fork or The Chessmaster or Batman Gambit but I'm really not sure.
At JWL SuperBrawl I
, the main event was the 22-woman Royal Rumble for the JWL Women's Title
. Jacqueline came in at #8 and, to everyone's surprise, singlehandedly eliminated Chyna. Instead of staying in the match, Jackie eliminated herself and she and Chyna fought to the back. The following night, on Episode 22
, Jackie challenged Chyna to a match at JWL WrestleMania I
. Jackie won a Squash Match on Episode 23. After winning a Squash on Episode 24, Jackie called out Chyna to accept her challenge, and here is where the tropes I am asking about come into play.
CHYNA: "Look Jackie, you're the only one who would benefit from this match. I beat you, big deal, I beat someone much smaller than me. You beat me, I end up looking weak because I lost to someone smaller. I have nothing to gain. So give me one good reason why I should face you at WrestleMania."
JACQUELINE: "Because if you don't, I'll tell everyone week after week that you are a coward! That you ain't got the guts to face me. I will torment you and make your life a living hell. In fact, I'm raising the stakes. You versus me at WrestleMania in a Loser-Leaves-the-JWL match!"
Crowd pops at the thought of being rid of Chyna. Chyna is on the spot now and has to respond.
CHYNA: "I admit it would feel really good to kick your ass out of the JWL and prove that I am superior. You're on for the Loser-Leaves-the-JWL match at WrestleMania!"
Along with identifying which tropes these were, should they be listed on the main page or the character sheets? Thank you very much.
Edited by KJTropesopenHow do I propose a new web series creator to be written here? Web Original
I would like to propose the addition of a new web series and its creator to this wiki, but I am not sure how. The creator is called Super Mario Richie and I feel that he desperately needs to be recorded here. I think his omission is unacceptable and I would like to see an effort made for his various works to have their tropes recorded here. I might try to start the page by myself, but I don’t have much free time these days. I hope you can help. Thank you.

On Nov 26th 2021 at 7:52:12 AM, ~TVTroperZelda made this edit on NightmareFuel.Hololive:
- The 6th generation of Hololive JP seems to be taking some inspiration from Myth and Council, in that all the members are based around one theme...but instead of being a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits or an Omniscient Council of Vagueness, Holo X is a secret society whose leader, La+ Darknesss, desires to Take Over the World. And if it weren’t for her being briefly captured and having her vast powers and intellect locked behind a system of Power Limiters, she very easily could.
On Nov 27th 2021 at 12:55:48 AM, I changed the last sentence to:
- [...], she potentially could.
with the Edit Reason being:
On Nov 28th 2021 at 3:37:42 AM, TV Troper Zelda changed the last sentence back to:
- [...], she very easily could.
without giving any reason for the revert/bringing it up for discussion.
I believe this is clear case of edit-warring, especially when the other troper justified their edit when they didn't.
Also, I call the last sentence out for Speculative Troping, since it's never actually shown in the work itself that "she very easily could Take Over the World", never mind that it blatantly ignores other factors in the same universe beside herself, and thus is not an accurate example at all.
Edited by AsoktencheaopenCan I make a trope page about myself? Web Original
Before I begin. Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong spot! I glanced around, not exactly thoroughly, but this seems like a good place to post a general question. If I'm not using the forum right or there is a better place. Please just let me know! I'll delete or lock or whatever I'm supposed to do before going to the right forum.
Anyhow I've been lurking on T Vtropes for a while now, great site, and I was thinking of trying to make a page. The problem is that I don't know if I'm actually allowed to do that given what I want to do. For clarity I'm a youtuber specilizing in lets plays hence why I put this in web original. I thought it be better then video games. I'm a pretty shitty one and by no means a proffesional, but I thought it be a fun thing to try and do. Regardless I should stop rambling. If I'm doing anything wrong just let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix it.

Edited by DoomRPGopenThe Island Of Doctor Moreau RP Web Original
there is this dead roleplaying group on Gaia online called The Island Of Doctor Moreau (Io DM) that ran from August 2005 to June 2007.
The main idea behind the setting is a modern version of the classic H.G. Wells' story, though instead of animals being surgically altered into humans, people (usually unwilling victims) are brought or tricked onto the island and genetically altered through a series of injections over several months to become animal/human hybrids. The Dr. Moreau of the island is one Dr. Nicholas Moreau, a descendent of the Dr. Moreau of literary fame. And the only difference between the setting for the story and the real world, other than the existence of the island and the "science" on it, is that the classic book was never written. The island is fairly-sized but small enough to not be on most notations. It is about twenty miles across at the widest points. Most of it is covered by deep jungle, though areas have been clear-cut for the village (the collection of duplexes the subjects live in) and the labs (which are surrounded by a high-voltage electric fence. The labs are built into the side of a dormant volcano that is in the center of the island. Sandy beaches are on the west side of the island, a rockier ledge on the east. There is a network of caves within the island itself. There is also a freshwater river system through the island and a large lake near the village.
On the island itself, the whole system is highly monitored - think Big Brother. There are hidden cameras in all of the subjects' duplexes and all over the island. Each subject is inserted with a microchip in the back of their necks that tracks their location on the island and allows them to be "buzzed" unconscious in the event of a bad fight or in order to administer them their follow up injections. Even the staff of the island is not allowed communication off the island, and a couple of staff members have even been turned into subjects due to misbehavior. Thus far, there have been no successful escape attempts.
But, all in all, the subjects are usually treated well, despite the kidnapping and being turned into an animal-creature. They are each assigned a duplex and have free reign over the island (with the exception of the labs, which are sectioned off by an electric fence). There is a cafeteria, entertainment room with movies and video games, sunny beaches, and deep tropical jungles. However, more than one lab tech has a cruel streak (it takes a certain kind of person to be picked to work for the labs) and use the subjects for some less than ethical psychological tests.
I thought you could make a media page of it

open Rewriting of the Pelo thing + Apology Web Original
So what would that trope be called where a media creator is like Gordon Ramsay (mean in the show, nice in real life) but only to their fictional creations to the point where not even the creator themself is aware?
And what's the trope where thanks to a creator being like "Please stop making that", even if it was said once and politely, the fanbase was like "Let's just make more of it to spite them!"
I honestly think the latter should be called "A Waiter at a 5-Star Trolls-Only Restaurant".
And sorry about my rambling on Pelo being a bad father figure. I mean I know he's not actually controversial, but I just felt like saying that only for sardonic purposes. But I apologize if it ended up being more harsh, and I'd only actually mean it if Pelo did do something legit controversial, which he didn't.
But in all honesty, I believe those two tropes would apply to all mediums, and not just web shows.

openSuperfluous Roleplay indexes? Web Original
So, I asked this questions in the comments under an earlier ATT query but didn't get a reply, so I'll ask again: what exactly is the difference between Forum Role Plays and Play-by-Post Games? The former page just seems like a worse version of the latter, being simply a bare index, whereas the other page actually explains what makes this medium special.
I feel like the contents of the former index should just be merged with latter, and the page itself cut.
openVideo example messup Web Original
Hey, so I uploaded a video example for Self-Destruct Mechanism (yes it's 3 am and I'm hyperfixating on The Final Minutes, if you want to know) and I just now realized that the video cropper I used completely cut out the entire countdown sequence and only shows the aftermath. Is there a way that the upload can be denied or something and I can re-upload a better video (with the actual sequence)?

A while back I made this entry on the Forgotten Weapons YMMV Page putting in folder for length.
And a few days ago I noticed another user had made an edit to change it to this:
Removing the section stating 'the Azov battalion is controversial' with the edit reason: "I guess that by now only chosen ones can view Azov as controversial."
Now I PMed them and they said they were okay if I reverted the change.
So two questions: 1)If I did revert it is an edit reason saying 'discussed this via PM' enough to avoid it being an edit war? 2) Should I revert it? I guess the edit reason was saying that given the Ukraine War, it's no longer acceptable to call them that but it was at the time, and it was their reputation as well as the specific person's postings that caused the controversy (Alas all the videos and comments on them were deleted from youtube after the incident so proving anything is difficult)
