openChanging a work's name Anime
Just wanted to check with you if the process of changing the work's title to it's English official translation was correct: 1/ Create the new page with the new name 2/ Copy the entire content of the former page 3/ Cutlist the old page with the untranslated name and ask to create a redirect to the new page (or create the redirect myself but I never did that...)
Am I correct? Thanks!
openWhich Title Should Be Used? Anime
Over the weekend I created a page for a manga, Manga.O Inari JK Tamamo Chan, and used its unofficial English title, Manga.High School Inari Tamamo Chan, as a redirect.
Overnight a troper came in and flipped that, making High School Inari the page and O-Inari JK the redirect.
I actually have no personal issue with this, as I prefer the English title. However, the English title is not an official title. The series hasn't been released in English that I could find so Inari High School Girl is primarily a translation of the Japanese title.
I remember a question like this coming up for another page I made and wanted to double check before I acted. My question on this matter: Does it matter if the page uses the English title over the Japanese one if there isn't an official English title to use?
I originally set it up the way I did because How to Create a Work's Page states "if the work doesn't have an officially-translated English title, you can use the non-English title for the main page and make the English translation into a redirect instead." but is that a hard and fast rule we must do it that way? The wording makes it sound optional.
If it doesn't matter either way I'll let the matter drop because, again, I have no problem with it myself. If it's preferred and/or required though I'd like a consensus or something official I could point to for reverting it before I contact the other troper or otherwise act.
Thank you in advance.
Edited by sgamer82open Bishonen Line Anime
The term Bishonen is used in the trope Bishonen Line but when I tried to search for the word Bishonen's definition itself, there was only the, uh, x-rated definition to be found. Is it the same word repurposed, or am I searching incorrectly?
openIssue regarding an edit undone. Anime
Apologies for so many ATT entries. I know this gets annoying.
So in August of last year, I went onto the Fairy Tail section for the "Main Villains", and asked why the "character" Ankhselam was listed as a Big Bad when he is a Greater-Scope Villain who never actually appears in the series. The characters listed on the page were the three major antagonists of the final arc, something the "character" in question is not. Nobody commented on it, so on January 20th of this year, I moved him to the Other Section.
February 13th, Sarakael, a troper I have had very poor interactions with due to his very strict "My way or the high way" mindset, undid this saying; "You should learn to wait for other opinion before doing thing as drastic as that."
Not only is this a passive aggressive message, I did wait for people to comment on it. For nearly five months. Not a single person commented so I moved it after waiting. I want to see peoples opinions since Sarakael has often ignored discussions if he does not agree with them, and he himself never engaged the topic.
Edited by keyblade333openTroper/Yu-Gi-Oh-related question Anime
I've seen a yuugame2 around recently. There used to be a yuugame account that made the same sorts of edits they do—long-winded manga-based Yu-Gi-Oh entries with occasional downplaying or putting down the anime, IE
"Enemy Mine: In the manga, after his initial Monster World RPG with them, he occasionally and openly helps the main group, particularly during Duelist Kingdom and Dungeon Dice Monsters, and a couple of times he shows up then willingly gives Ryo back control of his body. After the Monster World arc, he decided that keeping Yugi alive until the Shadow RPG is more beneficial to his plans agenda than outright opposing him as he did in the original RPG. The only reason he openly helps the group is because their adversaries are getting in the way of his own plans, such as trying to kill Yugi and take the Millennium puzzle, and it's also a way to gain Yugi's trust and then easily stab him in the back afterward. He rarely has shades of this in the anime, where he's permanently in-control and impersonating Ryo, and the gang have no idea that the spirit of the Millennium Ring is controlling him."
Some of this entry also isn't true, as Ryo was in control of himself at times in the anime, albeit to a lesser extent, and he was being manipulated in the manga often as well. From the '2' in the account name I was wondering if anything had happened to the original yuugame account, too. The first yuugame went up to January 2.

openExcessive Spoiler Tags in GE - Good Ending Anime
Earlier today, I Wiki Walked my way into GE - Good Ending and, to be blunt, the page was a mess. I've done what I can to deal with the worst of it (links to manga sites, multiple tropes listed together, example indentation, ZCE's... oh man the ZCE's...) but there's one issue I'm not sure how to handle: Spoiler tagging.
The spoiler tagging on the page and its subpages strikes me as very excessive. Several Wall of White entries for a start. A few spoilered trope names though I dealt with those. The thing is I don't know the series well enough to differentiate what is and is not a spoiler so I'm not sure what to uncover to keep things looking both good and correct.
I was wondering if anyone had some advice (or, if there's a forum thread for this kind of thing, point me in the right direction). I did look for a forum thread for GE itself, but had no luck.
Edited by sgamer82openPokemon Wham Episodes. Anime
From Wham Episode.Anime, I question the following from Pokémon.
- EP-015 "Battle Aboard the St. Anne". Giovanni appears for the first time and orders Team Rocket to attack the St. Anne, Ash trades his Butterfree for a Raticate (but later trades it back) and at the end the ship sinks with the group on board.
- EP-134 "Charizard's Burning Ambitions". Ash leaves Charizard, one of the anime's most loved Pokemon on the Charricific Valley.
- AG-044 "The Princess and the Togepi" and AG-045 "A Togepi Mirage". Misty comes back with new clothes, is revealed to own a Gyarados (depends if you are watching Chronicles on their Japanese air date), her Togepi evolves, and it's then released to take care of the Togepi paradise.
- AG-132 "The Scheme Team". The group separates and Ash comes back to Kanto. Ash encounters Agatha, who is the Viridian Gym Leader here and battles her. Then finds out about the battle Frontier and decides to challenge it. Then he finds Misty and an Azurill in his house, and Max also arrives there.
- DP-062 "Tanks For The Memories". Dawn gets depressed and stops believing in herself. Couple that with season-named sisters, one of them falling for Brock and Ash crossdressing as a maid, and you get an unforgettable episode.
- DP-189 "The Semi-Final Frontier". One of the most influential episodes within the fandom. Ash gets to the Sinnoh League semifinals, where he finds a strong trainer named Tobias. After many losses Ash gets to beat his Darkrai, but Tobias is then revelated to own a Latios who ends up at a tie with Ash's Pikachu, leaving Ash with no Pokémon left and thus eliminated from the League. Additionally, when the episode finished airing on Japan, Ash's return as the protagonist in the Best Wishes series was announced, complete with his controversial eye style change.
- BW-001 "In the Shadow of Zekrom". Another influential episode, but this time thanks to the rather trivial fact that Ash is still 10 years old. Additionaly, the battle between Pikachu and Snivy is also controversial and people still talk (or complain) about it today.
- BW-018 "Sewaddle and Burgh in Pinwheel Forest!" Ash captures Sewaddle, breaking the format of Ash capturing only six Pokemon per Region. Ash would go on to catch nine Unova Pokémon.
- BW-023 "Battling For The Love of Bug-Types!". The previous two episodes (that featured Team Plasma vs Team Rocket) were banned, so there were a lot of questions unanswered, and this episode at least provided the answer to one of them: Team Rocket lost. As a result of that, Team Rocket came back to their usual selves dressed in white, and acted a bit funny. Additionaly, Ash's Sewaddle evolves, James caughts a Yamask and Ash gets his third Unova badge.
- BW-096 "Meloetta and the Undersea Temple!" and BW-097 "Unova's Survival Crisis". Team Rocket gets to control Meloetta, Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus, Ash faces Giovanni for the first time, albeit briefly, Giovanni gets mad for power but loses in the end, causing Team Rocket to be withdrawn from Unova.
- XY-060 "A Showcase Debut". Serena participates on her first Pokemon Showcase, but loses in the Theme Performance round. Early the next morning, Serena goes to a dock and cries for her failure, but after being reconfortated by her Pokemon, she proceeds to cut her hair and change her style permanently. Additionaly, a mysterious woman and a former performer named Palermo is introduced.
- XY-062 "The Future Is Now, Thanks to Determination!" Clemont's Luxio evolves, but more importantly, Clemont decides to leave the group temporarily in order to prepare his battle with Ash. This is the first instance of a travel companion leaving the group in the middle of a series, though Clemont comes back after said battle.
- XY-064 "Battling with Elegance and a Big Smile!" The writers really were on a good run here. Serena meets her idol Aria (disguised as Ariana) and gets to battle her, with her Fennekin evolving into Braixen in the process. Also, Ash's rival Sawyer gets an Early-Bird Cameo.
- SM-021 "One Journey Ends, Another Begins..." The episode begins with the recurring Litten panicking and worried because the elderly Stoutland that took it in hasn't been in good health. Ash and Nurse Joy do what they can, but it isn't injured or sick. Stoutland dies of old age.
Any objections/thoughts?
openThis new troper here Anime
So I got a notification on my watchlist that the Characters.Naruto Team Eight Members character page was modified. I checked it out and saw that Rich 4 (he shows up as a "NEW ACCOUNT" on my watchlist) added Dandere to Hinata's section. However, while Hinata does fit the Dandere trope based on its description and Laconic and Playing With pages, the entry itself written by Rich 4 over-exaggerates Hinata's fainting tendencies—she faints only twice in the manga a.k.a. in Canon, while she faints a lot in the anime filler which is non-canon, the Rock Lee SD spin-off which is also non-canon, and a lot of Fanfics which are, well, fanon. So Rich 4 wrote false/exaggerated information in that example.
I want to fix the entry, but I don't want to cause an Edit War. Would my fixing the entry cause an Edit War? I just want to make sure before I do anything. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I'm trying this remember this anime, but I can't find it. So in the first episode there was this guy who couldn't find his dad and he was with another guy and girl. His dad however left him this machine that summoned a white polar bear. Around episode 3 the girl got a machine herself and named it charger.

open Old t.v show Anime
So their is this show, not sure if it was exactly anime, but it was an animation. Just ur average animation action fighting show. Only 2 scenes I remember was a part, where a guy was in some gear type suit, puts out a card in front of him and then just floats and gets inserted into him through his chest. Another scene was i think about the same guy fights his future self, but he is stronger and black hair. That's all I remember :(
openGetting rid of Shipping Bias / Reporting two tropers Anime
If you guys don't mind, this is a twofer post that actually goes hand-in-hand. Also, I apologize in advance because this is a long post, but I need to give a lot of information so that you'll understand where I'm going with this.
So I already called for RandomX to be reported in my previous ATT post
, for, among a lot of reasons, shipping bias. I saw shipping bias in their Naruto entry for First Kiss. On August 14th, matruz removed the shipping bias and provided an Edit Reason explaining why it was removed—to paraphrase, "because saving someone's life with CPR does not equate to a kiss, and as an experienced medical ninja Sakura had to have performed CPR on other subjects before Naruto in order to perfect the procedure, so Naruto is not her First Kiss." Also, it's long since been confirmed in the manga and from post-series interviews with creator Masashi Kishimoto himself that Sakura loves Sasuke and not Naruto, and Naruto rejected Sakura in Chapter 469 of the manga. When Sakura performed CPR on him during the War, about 200 chapters after Chapter 469, she was trying to save his life, not trying to kiss him, so it comes off as more of a friendship moment than a romantic one; plus, Naruto wasn't conscious when she performed CPR on him, so it wasn't mutual. Naruto is shown kissing only two people in Canon: Sasuke in Chapter 3 (both he and Sasuke are visibly shown to not enjoy it, due it being an Accidental Kiss), and Hinata in The Last: Naruto the Movie (which is explicitly the first canon movie of the franchise—an advertisement that was published with the final two manga chapters officially called the movie "Chapter 699.5". Here's the proof
). Regarding the kiss with Hinata, Naruto initiates it and is visibly shown enjoying giving her The Big Damn Kiss at the end of the movie, so that was his First Kiss with a girl and also his first mutual and romantic kiss. Based on these facts that I related directly from canon events (and I even provided the manga chapters and the advertisement picture as proof), I agreed with matruz's Edit Reason to remove the shipping bias. However, on September 5th, Trustworthy69 re-inserted the shipping bias that matruz removed, and gave no Edit Reason explaining why it was re-inserted. Edit Reason or not, that is an Edit War on Trustworthy69's part.
Not only that, but I also see shipping bias in Falling into His Arms and Kiss of Life, from EarsplittingLepidopteran. For Falling into His Arms, the description states that it's a very romantic trope, but EarsplittingLepidopteran deleted the Minato/Kushina example (which was romantic) and inserted Naruto saving Sakura and being stabbed by her poisoned kunai (which was not romantic. This event also occurred in Chapter 484, 15 chapters after Naruto rejected Sakura, which makes it even less romantic), and then the way this person worded their completely blanked-out spoiler-tag entry (which is not allowed, according to Handling Spoilers) sounds like shipping bias, so it did not employ neutral wording. The Kiss of Life Naruto entry written by EarsplittingLepidopteran also claims the First Kiss issue, but as I explained in my previous paragraph, and as matruz's Edit Reason stated in the Ship Tease Anime and Manga page and in First Kiss, an experienced medical ninja would have performed and perfected the CPR procedure long before Naruto, so he was not her First Kiss, and she loves Sasuke and was trying to save Naruto's life, but he was unconscious and he already rejected her in Chapter 469, so it was not mutual. Also, Naruto finally woke up from unconsciousness not from Sakura's CPR, but rather from the Sage of Six Paths giving Naruto his powers; this was shown in Chapters 671 and 672. Therefore, the Kiss of Life Naruto entry is not a valid example.
Getting to the point of my post, based on what I have said: 1) The Naruto entries for First Kiss, Falling into His Arms, and Kiss of Life should be reworded to be neutral and display no shipping bias, or even some entries should be removed because they do not follow the criteria from the trope's description(s). 2) If this has not been done already, EarsplittingLepidopteran should be called in/reported for shipping bias and lack of neutral wording, and Trustworthy69 should be called in/reported for shipping bias, lack of neutral wording, and Edit Warring.
Here's the edit history for the aforementioned three tropes: Falling Into His Arms
, First Kiss
, and Kiss Of Life
.
Here's the edit history for EarsplittingLepidopteran
, and here's the edit history for Trustworthy69
.
I will not do anything with those three aforementioned tropes until I get feedback from a more knowledgeable troper and/or a moderator.
Edited by mouschilightopen A lot of issues with the most recent edits on ShipTease/AnimeAndManga. Anime
I have noticed that there are a lot of issues with the most recent edits in Anime & Manga of the Ship Tease page, based on its History
, specifically with the most recent edits for Naruto and One Piece. There are very long-winded entries, non-neutral wording employed, adding information that has long since been firmly denied by the original creators themselves, showing shipping bias towards ships that aren't canon and against ships that are canon, grammar issues, not ending the entries on a clear definitive concluding note, and overall initiating an Edit War.
The reason why this all concerns me is because *I* displayed those very same issues myself before I got banned, and now that I know everything that I did wrong, I feel that these edits really do show everything that I just explained, the things I had problems with previously. These most recent edits display the problems as shown in these Administrivia articles: Sink Hole, Conversation in the Main Page, Righting Great Wrongs, Word Cruft, How to Write an Example, Edit Reasons and Why You Should Use Them, and Handling Spoilers.
Personally, I want to revert those edits back to how they were originally written most recently before they got ruined, because those previous edits didn't add excessive information that really didn't need to be added. All of those previous edits didn't display any shipping bias or at least showed as little as possible, gave evidence to back up what was written, and each entry ended on a clear definitive concluding note. However, I don't know how to do that without causing an Edit War myself. How would I go about reverting all of those edits back and explaining that "I am reverting back to the original edits because the most recent edits caused an Edit War and showed a lot of problems that violated proper editing etiquette," in a concise neutral Edit Reason, without causing an Edit War?
Please know that I am not trying to pick a fight, and this is the first time I'm using Ask The Tropers, so I'm not completely familiar with ATT just yet. However, I do know that asking for this troper to be banned is not the right answer, and that is not what I am asking anyways. My main point is, I just noticed that the most recent edits done by that troper showed those very same problems that I myself had before I got banned, and because those are big warning signs that I did not know about until I got banned, those edits need to be dealt with or fixed/reverted as a result.
Lastly, as a side note, I still see links to scanlations in that trope page. Those need to be deleted because links to scanlations are not permitted. They are illegal and therefore need to be deleted. I plan on getting rid of those myself, though, since I made that same mistake myself and am in the process of getting rid of all the links I've ever inserted, so the main issues I have with the edits in this page (issues which I wrote about above) are what I'm more focused on here.
Edited by mouschilightopenRegaridng all white entries... Anime
I found a couple spoilered entries on Anime.Pokemon The Movie Black And White. Specifically The Bad Guy Wins and Earn Your Happy Ending:
- The Bad Guy Wins: All of Damon's goals are accomplished successfully despite his Heel–Face Turn; this only means the Kingdom of the Vale was restored without the unintended and unaccounted-for side effects happening.
- Fridge Brilliance: The Dragon Force became destructive as a result of the two brothers of yore fighting their battle with Reshiram and Zekrom. It was neither the truth of collapse/the ideal of harmony that Ash bore nor the ideal of rebirth/the truth of vigilance Damon possessed that saved the Kingdom of the Vale in the end, but the cooperation between them, and between Reshiram and Zekrom in turn. Hate and zeal only destroy themselves and everything around them.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: How Damon's goals are accomplished without world destruction happening.
I am asking if the examples should be reworded or if the markup should be removed (On the one hand, Its canon status is dubious at best and it could be considered independent of the anime, a Non-Serial Movie. On the other hand the movie itself is a decade old at this point)? I will move the Fridge Brilliance bullet to the YMMV page once I edit these entries.
