openundertale broken aesop
ninjacreeper48 put the following broken aesop example in Video Games:
- One of the aesops in ''Video Game/Undertale" is that violence is not the answer. A major flaw in that message is that many of the monsters are willing to hurt and/or kill a child to harness their soul to allow Asgore the ability to wage war on humanity. While some monsters do not realize that their 'attacks' are harmful, it's not the case with all of them. Toriel (who did not want to kill the human child) was willing hurt them to near-death with fire magic in order to stop them from leaving the Ruins and finding a way out of Mt. Ebott. Papyrus also wanted to hurt the child for the personal gain of joining the Royal Guards. Undyne tried to hunt down and kill the child even if you save the Monster Kid from falling off the bridge in front of her. The fact that she remains hostile even after you spare her and even if you continue a Pacifist run (until you befriend her of course) may also make her lose some sympathy, as it may make her look stubborn in her hatred and ungrateful. Knight-Knight and Madjick are explicitly stated to be mercenaries hired by Mettaton, meaning they're willing to kill a child for profit! These reasons could give players good reasons for fighting in self-defense.
- Another aesop is that actions have consequences. There is a double standard caused by the aesop because the monsters do not actually need to face the consequences of killing the human child since they have the ability to reset after death and thus undoing their murder.

open Sci-Fi Show Live Action TV
So I used to watch this reallife show which aired around 2004 in my country. It was in English. It was def a Sci-fi show. It has 3-4 Teenagers from what I remember. 2 guys and 1 girl I think. There was this futuristic car/vehicle (from what I remember, was very fast, could maybe fly and be invisible)(and has soo many features inside it). The Teenagers discover this car. And Inside this car One of the teens could put armour on and make him self like a robot and fight crime ( the armour was shiny silver). The Villain from what I remember was a Girl dressed in red leather. Everyone went to the same high school. One scene I remember was one of the teenagers (the asian i think) was captured and tied to a chair and he manages to get help/or contact by typing on a laptop with his hands tied backwards cause he's so smart. Thats all I remember, please let me know if this rings a bell to anyone. Thanks.
openFixing Useful Notes pages
So recently, the page UsefulNotes.Three Kingdoms Shu Wei Wu had its main body of historical information wiped out due to being entirely documented in Tropes (which is not allowed on Useful Notes pages). This leaves the page bare-bones and lacking in information. I am not attempting to revert the change. However, I do wish to find some way to fix the page so that it can serve as a good enough useful notes page for the real events in the Three Kingdoms period (contrasting them with the semi-fictional depictions in Romance of the Three Kingdoms), but I am very bad with fixing pages on such a large scale myself. Is there any way I can find assistance or organize more people to help fix the page?
PS: I am also trying to incorporate some of the information from Recap.Three Kingdoms Shu Wei Wu to the main page, since I don't think that a page like this can have a recap either.
Edited by WuzopenNot sure if vandalism or just poorly thought out
Someone named King Bowser 9001 appears to have changed every subpage link on "Blind Idiot" Translation to complete nonsense with the actual links potholed, apparently in an effort to make them self-demonstrating. I'm almost certain this was unapproved, but just wanted to check here. (To add insult to injury, it doesn't look like they're even actual mangled translations).
open Improper Entry Western Animation
Steven Universe S3E20 "Bismuth" has a "Hate Dumb" entry despite the page itself specifically saying not to put them on a work's page.
open Never a Self-Made Woman Cleanup
Never a Self-Made Woman needs a lot of cleanup in the examples. Many of the entries are just "this woman received some help from a man, therefore she have no agency in involving herself with the plot" when the trope description specifies that the man has to be more important than they are. It's not supposed to be that any work that lacks a Self-Made Woman is guilty of this trope. Especially in works where lineage and pedigree are important aspects of backstories regardless of gender.
The very first example (Shizuka Jounouchi) seems valid enough, but already the second example is pushing it. The Hellsing entry seems to reflect a totally different kind of trope about discrimination against women. The specific examples given for Naruto fit, but that same entry acknowledges they're not the norm which loops back to making itself questionable. Fullmetal Alchemist plays with the trope so much it screams of Square Peg Round Trope. The Pet Shop Of Horrors is an unambiguous subversion so it fits this trope. Jackals is an inversion/aversion when the trope description states that such examples should not be here.
And on and on and on. Perhaps the trope description needs to be made more specific in the first place?
Edited by AlleyOopopenTwo Work Pages in Need of Help
I was hoping for some advice or a point in the right direction in dealing with a couple work pages that need some work done.
The first is one I brought up a while back
, Literature.Rai Kirah . It's a work without a description, only a list of when the books of the trilogy were released. I PM'd the one who made the page but the only response to anything was a post in the discussion page (which, I admit, I was slow responding to) wondering about ZCE's I'd uncommented. It's been two weeks since my reply, where I mentioned the lack of description, and nothing. Where can I go to get some help for getting a description done?
The second work of Manga. The Voynich Hotel. Its description and tropes read like a brochure for the titular hotel. That's bad enough but there's nothing like that in the series (I've read about the first half) so they can't even use Self-Demonstrating as an excuse. Is this worth a short term project to help repair or is there somewhere else I should go? Not sure if I alone can get that fixed on a timely manner.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I found the Improving work and creator page descriptions thread so I'll likely get my help from there.
Edited by sgamer82openTLP of banned users
I have a question about TLP etiquette in regards to banned users. I've been working on a trope draft created by Getta, who was recently found to be a sock puppet of an already banned user and who was thus bounced. I know that the normal rule is to wait two months before taking over someone else's draft, but in this case (the creator being banned/no longer being welcome), would it be alright to consider it Up For Grabs already and take over working on it myself?
Edited by OrbitingopenWeDidntStartTheFuhrer Film
I have recently seen a film set in a historical war (which is not World War II), where the main character is sure that the whole conflict was caused by a supernatural influence over humanity, and it turns out that no, the war was something that humanity started all by itself, with no supernatural forces at work. I thought about We Didn't Start the Führer, but that trope clarifies that it is specifically for Hitler and WWII. Is there some parent trope, then? Or should I use it anyway, taking into account that Tropes are flexible? If it is the second, shouldn't we rewrite the trope a bit, to clarify that WWII is simply a major location of this trope, but not the exclusive one?
Note: The very question I'm making may give a spoiler about the plot of the film, so the best way I could thought about to avoid that was to speak in general terms, without mentioning the film (and, just in case, not even the actual war). If someone else here does realize the film that made me ask this question, please do not mention it, for the sake of those who did not saw it.
openThatOneLevel question
Specifically, is there a "one entry per game" rule for That One Level? The page itself is a bit unclear on this.
openEdit War in Seasonal Rot
There seems to be a slow-burning Edit War over at Seasonal Rot. Troper Wyldchyld deleted a Bleach entry revolving around the Arrancar arc. Troper Austin restored it with no substantial changes and an edit reason of "Correct. Do not remove." Wyldchyld re-deleted it with an edit reason directing the reader to the Discussion page, where they made a short post explaining their reasoning. Austin restored it, again substantially unchanged, leaving a brief paragraph in their edit reason but without participating in the Discussion thread.
I don't have a horse in this race, not being a Bleach fan myself and knowing nothing about whether the entry is valid, but the matter seems to require some more input, as these two seem unlikely to reach consensus between themselves.
Edited by HighCrateopenPossible Bluenose Bowdlerizer?
I'm not exactly sure what's going on here, but I recently looked at my watchlist and saw that ExultantCapon
edited Characters.Nichijou to change the word "fuck" to "hell". I don't necessarily disagree with this change but I took a look at the edit history anyway and noticed a tendency towards changing seemingly inocuous words into other phrases. I've also noticed all of the edits are today.
Examples:
- Ungrateful Bastard - "Hates with a passion" to "annoying as heck"
- GetAHoldOfYourselfMan.Anime And Manga - "came to his senses" to "came to himself" and "didn't want to slap Suzaku back into his senses" to "didn't plan to slap Suzaku into realization"
- UsefulNotes.Japanese Pronouns - Deleted "Conversely, Bulma calls him "anta" and definitely is being rude." Probably justified as natter, but no edit reason was included and a porition of an entry directly below got deleted along with it.
- Characters.Samurai Pizza Cats - "idiots" to "dimwits" (though the word is capitalized so maybe it's a term correction?) and "hair-trigger temper" to "crazy short temper"
openOfficial romanization stuff in Fate/Grand Order Videogame
Okay, there's been some disagreement regarding how to romanize the name アルトリア (lit. Arutoria) for this game, which has been complicated by inconsistent official use. FGO's official translation uses 'Altria,' however, the recently released Fate/Extella's official translation uses Artoria. The company that localized it as 'Altria' wanted to use Artoria, but were overruled by the company that makes the game, who has used both forms at different points because nothing can ever be simple. The name is supposed to be a feminine of the Roman name 'Artorius,' which is a plot point later on. So far as I'm aware, the rest of the wiki uses the name 'Artoria' when referring to her by name instead of title. Finally, most fans kind of hate the name Altria. However, it is the official name for this single installment and does seem to be the name the company wants people to go with.
In this situation, what name should we be going with? The unpopular but slightly more official one or the name that sees more usage, but isn't used in the game itself due to questionable localization? There's been some arguing as to policy and a bit of back and forth on this one and I don't want it to spiral into an edit war.
In short, the official name is Altria, but they've also used Artoria officially before and just about everyone prefers that name because it makes more sense, so it's not clear which we should use.
Edited by ArhaopenThe hidden note from Gundam Seed Destiny Anime
I'm not sure is this the right place to ask, but here goes.
There's a hidden note in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny. While I can see why it's here, it doesn't follow the style of any other notes on this very site as it's pretty demanding.
Now here' s my question, can I alter it or do I need a permission? I removed a hidden note before as I felt it was unnecessary, only to get called out by a user.
For those who are curious, here's the note.
!!Fellow tropers: TV Tropes is a wiki dedicated to compiling story and character tropes, not attesting your fiery hatred for every single aspect of a particular show. So before you add yet another complaint about Gundam SEED Destiny, take a closer look at the list; aren't there enough complaints already? Complaining isn't going to make the show better. Instead, why don't you just pour yourself some chocolate milk, pop a few anti-depressants, and re-watch Gundam SEED or another Gundam series of your choice until your crippling rage subsides.!!
openState Fair Remake Film
If 20th Century Fox seems to consider the 1962 version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's State Fair an Old Shame, but I don't know what Rodgers himself thought of it (Hammerstein died a few years before it premiered), which of the Old Shame subpages should I put it on?

openPotential edit warring on ''Characters/TheLastOfUs'' (Is it my fault?) Videogame
I'm getting a bit annoyed. It seems like every time I try to edit the character page for The Last of Us, any changes or examples I add are either deleted, commented out or re-edited, many times seemingly instantly after I post them. Admittedly some of them may have been misuses, but I'm getting really mad. I recently removed the page from my watchlist due to both the frustration and the desire to avoid potential spoilers from ''The Last of Us Part 2", but I went back to add more examples (which will likely get removed too) and saw more things removed. Off the top of my head, here's what was revised (examples are paraphrased SPOILERS AHEAD):
- Berserk Button: Joel has a tendency to get pissed off when someone asks about his past before the infection, particularly his dead daughter Sarah (this one was admittedly a misuse in hindsight, since the trope doesn't apply to situations that would reasonably anger someone, and Joel would reasonably not want to talk about such a painful memory and Ellie was intentionally pressing him about it)
- From Nobody to Nightmare: I pointed out Joel's rise from average, working class single father pre-outbreak, to reckless hardcore survivalist with a body count likely in the triple digits. David's group openly runs away from him rather than fight him after having killed dozens of their men. It was removed due to being "for villains only" even though a) it clearly says on the trope page itself "that being a villain is not necessarily a requirement for this trope, even though most who fit the trope are. Anyone who is feared or dreaded by someone (even if the "someone" in question is the cruel and tyrannical government that the heroes oppose) can qualify." and b) Batman is listed as an example. Not to mention that Joel is, at best a Nominal Hero.
- Older Than They Look: It's a bit hard to believe that Ellie is fourteen. Joel even asks if she's 12 when he first meets her. (She "looks that age to me". Though I do have a problem guessing the ages of children because I have always been younger than I look, I was 6 ft tall by the time I was fourteen and my voice deepened at a very young age; I had a Kevin Conroy-like baritone at the age of ten! So a kid that looks eight or nine to me will usually end up being in their early teens. Furthermore, nearly all of the adults in my town are also Younger Than They Look, further adding to the confusion). But again, Joel himself comments on it in the story, so the example should remain.
Those are just the ones off the top of my head, and most of the edits (except the last one) have been from a single user. Az_Tech341. I haven't PM'd him/her about the issue yet and I doubt it would go well if I did, so I just skipped a step and went here. Is there an issue or am I just an idiot who should stop editing the page altogether? I have already lost my editing privileges once when I was fairly new, and I'm trying to avoid it happening a second time. Probably doesn't help my case, but I have to be honest.

Found this character which appears to be one of the mystics from the movie among my dads belongings. He was a film fan and artist. I think he may have made it himself but am not absolutely certain. unfortunately I don't see how to post a photo to share it. It has a mole on what would be its left cheek....Any ideas?
