On Read Only Memories, Back Stab should probably be changed to In the Back, since Back Stab is only used if it's a game mechanic (and it's an Adventure Game). I don't want to do it myself since I'm considering buying this game and don't want to be spoiled.
open Fridge page for Fallout: New Vegas is locked Videogame
There's no word in Discussion about locking the page, and I don't see a Repair Shop notification header on the page itself. Possible spurious page lock?
Edited by JAG01openEdit War on Fallout 76 Videogame
I'm finding myself in an edit war on Fallout 76. A troper recently put the Doomed by Canon trope on the page, stating the Vault 76's mission to rebuild America in the aftermath of the nuclear war "obviously' failed based on how much of a bombed-out hell hole the Capital Wasteland of Washington D.C. and Boston Commonwealth are 185 years later.
- Vault 76's mission to restore America is obviously doomed to fail from the start, since the east coast is still a Crapsack World 185 years later."
Here's the thing though: this game is a prequel and a spinoff from the main series, but there is literally NO MENTION of the end results of Vault 76's efforts anywhere else in the entire franchise. There's no mention that it's located in West Virginia, or anything else. There's only a computer terminal in Fallout 3 that only mentions that Vault 76 exists.
According to the Doomed by Canon's own Playing With page, if something hasn't been mentioned in the main installments, then it counts as an Averted Trope, and thus should not be mentioned.
"Averted:
- Bob wasn't mentioned in "The Main Tropes", so it doesn't matter what his fate is."
Or, to put it into context:
"Vault 76's efforts aren't mentioned in the rest of the Fallout franchise, so it doesn't matter what its fate is."
The game hasn't even come out yet. It'll be released in November, so nobody actually knows if the game's main storyline will address any actual results from the efforts of the players. To say that they failed because of the Crapsack World that previous (but further down the timeline) installments are with literally zero mention of this game is ridiculous.
Edited by DRCEQopenKings Quest 2015 Videogame
There are huuuuuuuuge, nattery, too-detailed lists on King's Quest (2015) pages to the point that deleting them frees up a ton of room, and every reference to the old games is added to the page as they happen. Plus there's losing sight of the original trope or not fitting the trope.
Examples include under Chaos Architecture, Broad Strokes, Continuity Nod, Deconstruction, and Unreliable Narrator. and a mistaken trivia entry for Alternate Continuity used to have a terrifyingly long list until I deleted it when putting it back on the main page. I can add it back if you guys want.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=VideoGame.KingsQuest2015
Should I delete the lengthy entries entirely while giving a generalized example, IE "* Continuity Nod: There's lots of name drops and nods to material from the classic games, and even The King's Quest Companions, thrown in as fun references for old time fans who might be keeping track. Some of these nods include 'alternate' visual adaptations of the box art from the original series, while others include specific creatures and events that are non-canon in this series." or move them to a new page?
EDIT: These entries on the YMMV page are suspect too.
" Protagonist-Centered Morality: The game falls into this with the way Graham treats his two grandchildren. Graham is the hero, so anything he does is more or less indicated to be okay - including the fact that he clearly favors his granddaughter Gwen over his grandson Gart, to the point that he names her his heir, making her Queen of Daventry when he dies. This is despite Gart being the older grandchild, and the one who actually lives in Daventry with his grandfather. Gart himself is given a few minor character flaws, while Gwen isn't shown to have any; she becomes the player character in the epilogue of the game, meaning that she has apparently also inherited Graham's Protagonist Centered Morality. "
"Vocal Minority: When the first chapter was released, the reaction was positive for the most part, but those who didn't like it were much louder than those who did.
- There are/were people who believe it was made with money stolen from the Hiveswap Kickstarter and were very displeased with this. There's no proof as far as we know; Andrew Hussie himself has said he can't take legal action and has tried to keep angry Homestuck fans from doing anything. "
openSuper Mario Bros. - Dork Age or not? Videogame
Both the GameCube/GBA era and the 3DS/Wii U era are listed as a Dork Age for Mario on the video games page. Myself and a few others got into a discussion
about it, and we felt that neither of those actually do classify as a Dork Age. One of the users went ahead and removed the examples. Soon after, however, they were added back by another user, who disagreed with the deletion. The other user was unaware that there had been a discussion about it, so I linked him/her to the appropriate page.
I'm still leaning on the side of 'doesn't count as a Dork Age' myself, but I felt that maybe I should get some more opinions first. Thoughts?
Edited by StardustSoldieropenKirby Characters reorganization Videogame
The character pages for the Kirby series (link here
) have been going through a lot of restructuring recently. Where we originally had one page for every villain and boss, we now have four pages: Villainous Factions (for major villains that are part of a group), Other Major Antagonists (for major villains that are independent), Recurring Bosses (for bosses that make repeat appearances throughout the series), and Other Bosses (for bosses that have only appeared once or twice). There’s also a page for characters specific to Kirby’s Return to Dream Land, which has been seen as unnecessary by myself and a few others for a while. Someone else has already removed any character from the Return to Dream Land page that can be found on another page. All that’s left on the game’s page are one-off bosses. I’d like to move these entries to the Other Bosses page and get rid of the Return to Dream Land page entirely, but I’m certain the Other Bosses page will become too long if I do. Should I split the page again? Remove any characters that only have two or three tropes attached to them? Leave these pages as-is?
openUnintentionallyUnsympathetic miuse and Scrappy misuse. Videogame
Someone added this to the Fire Emblem Fates ymmv page:
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The reception of Peri was mixed, but mostly negative for this reason. They attempted to make her a Sympathetic Murderer, but at the same time didn't do enough to actually make her sympathetic for most people. Her backstory that set her up to be this way is briefly summarized in one of her supports and barely acknowledged at all otherwise, her positive traits just aren't enough to redeem her for being a serial killer, almost all of her Character Development is mentioned in her endings to have taken place after the game is over, and most of her darkest aspects are Played for Laughs in ways that feel out of place in the game and leave much of the audience more uncomfortable than amused. This also has the side effect of making Xander look kind of clueless to some people, since there is very little indication that he's even aware of the sorts of things Peri does, despite Peri herself seeing nothing wrong with it, not trying at all to hide it, and talking openly about it to almost everyone.
I removed it and cited that this was someone blantly trying to scapegoat Peri as a scrappy using this, citing that this person was ignoring several aspects of the character. This was done by Gravityman. Two days later, user bigbossdiego readded it, and also added her as a scrappy, which is something that has been done before and has been continually cited as not being a valid entry.
They also said this: "A character having fans does not, I repeat, does not preclude them from this status. Peri is hated by the fans to an almost absurd degree. There are entire reddit threads about how much the fandom hates her (https://www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/7moa1p/hated_characters_peri/)
. The removal of her Scrappy status was also unwarranted as well in light of this information. I also dislike the entry on Never Live It Down for the reason that it both downplays the problems with picking Peri as a retainer, and ignores the issues with Xander's own justifications for it. If you want to discuss this further, please respond to my post in the discussion page."
Since this is clearly just trying to bash a Base-Breaking Character, I am going to remove it, especially since using places like reddit is not allowed as a source. Want to get opinions as well so this doesn't become an issue again.
- Edit: Also, not sure if this is true, but I believe this qualifies as an edit war on the second users part, but I'm not sure.
openWeird deletion for Kirby Star Allies Videogame
On the Kirby - Bosses and Villains page about Hyness, this was deleted
- Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: His abusiveness towards his own followers is bad enough, but wanting to see the entire universe destroyed by resurrecting a God of Evil? Yeah, the Kirby series being a generally happy, idealistic, and cute franchise full of Affably Evil characters, Tragic Villains with sympathetic backstories, and Generic Doomsday Villains makes him really stand out and hold the dubious honor of being the darkest most evil villain in the franchise itself, with none of the redeeming traits that flesh out most of the villains in the games.
Pretty sure the trope fits, but someone did a big revert edit that deleted most of the added tropes when there was no reason to. The name of the user is King Ghost.
May I add this back?
Edited by ReynTime250openWanting to add a DethroningMoment about an AllThereInTheManual entry Videogame
I want to add to the Dethroning Moment Of Suck page an entry about Overwatch, but considering it's not in the game proper, where should it go?
- So, when Overwatch revealed its newest hero (28 feb 2018), her official bio was put on the site, except the age she's given doesn't make any sense (she's supposed to be 28, but according to a letter released, Mercy is supposed to have been there a few days after she was born, meaning that Mercy would have been 9 when that happened). Compounded by the lead writer's reaction on Twitter when releasing her, which was a simple "some things are wrong with her backstory". He didn't proofread himself, he didn't check if the information he gave to the team uploading the site was coherent with what he wrote, and he didn't apologize for it, his reaction could be summarized as "meh, i made a mistake, no big deal". It's at this point that I gave up any hope I had left for some form of coherence/continuity with this universe or for Michael Chu to have any credibility as a writer.

Edited by Crossover-EnthusiastopenLooking for Specific Titles Videogame
Is there a way to request new entries or something? I wanted to read about a few specific games, but they don't come up in the search, which I assume means they don't exist here. But, I would really like to read more into them and be able to find some quotes and stuff (the rest of the Internet has nothing). So, I was hoping that I could request for their pages to be made, if it's okay. I can't contribute myself since I'm not that good at these things. It would be great if there were a section for requested titles. Anyway, the games I'm looking for are "Gone in November" and "Far From Noise"; there are a few other titles I'd like to see as well, but can't remember what they were, right now. Thanks!
openVideoGame/PrimusUnderfell Videogame
Alright, where do I begin? The page is full of ZCEs, is only indexed to Undertale's fanworks page, and is possibly importing offsite drama. At the least, it's not related to the game itself and shouldn't be there.
Also, aside from fixing what I assumed to be a spelling error, Reptiny is the only one who's edited the page.
openNot responding to PM Videogame
What is the correct thing to do if someone else doesn't reply to a PM regarding the misuse of a trope, and I cannot change the page back myself for that would constitute edit warring?
For the record, the troper in question is plcthecd and the page is Age of Empires II.
openminor edit war and questionable edit on YMMV OOT Videogame
garthvader on YMMV.The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time removed the Water Temple from a Base Breaker entry, citing that "You see nobody dislikes the water temple because it's *hard*, the dislike it because you're constantly farting around in the menu". I put it back as the WT has become shorthand for 'hard Zelda dungeon', the master quest version and remakes made it easier because of its notorious difficulty. and the level designer even apologized for how hard it was, and the BB entry cited positive thoughts on the level as well, with some really loving it.
They re-removed it, saying " No, it's NOT notorious for being difficult, it's notorious for the fact that every time you mess up you have to repeat a sequence of annoying steps and menu transitions. Lying about why people don't like it makes a poor example. As an addition, the level designer did not apologise for how hard it was, quote: "I am most sorry that it was not easy for you to put on and take off the heavy boots, that all the time you had to visit the inventory. I am very sorry about that. I should have made it much easier to switch to the heavy boots," Aonuma said."
However, right before that Aonuma said "“The Water Temple in the Ocarina of Time was notorious for being very tough to conquer," implying he was being sarcastic about the boots, and even if not he does say the temple itself is difficult. I found the edit reasons a bit rude as well ^^;
But even more than they they added this to the YMMV page, which seems questionable. "**Naming Link as "Hitler" also results in a, um, interesting new interpretation of the story."
Edited by lalalei2001openWould this be an edit war? Videogame
This was added to Doki Doki Literature Club! by Etheru on November 17:
- Anti-Frustration Features: There's a "skip" button that allows the player to fast forward through dialogue that they've already seen, which significantly helps to streamline the process of getting the Golden Ending for the game. It's also functional when Yuri kills herself in Act 3, since clicking through all of the garbage text takes a while.
I removed it later that day for being a non-example with this edit reason: "I'm not really sure this should count...having a skip button is a standard feature of visual novels, and in Ren'Py in particular, V Ns made with it include it by default—you have to deliberately disable the functionality in order to not allow for skipping. It's a bit like calling the save function an AFF."
A similar example was added to the page by King Lyger, and subsequently edited by them, on December 8. It currently looks like this:
- Anti-Frustration Features: If you load a save from a previous day, the game lets you fast-forward through dialogue you've already seen by either clicking "Skip" or holding down a key. The skip stops automatically when you reach dialogue that you haven't seen yet. The game also lets you skip through a part of Yuri's event in Act 2 after she stabs herself to death, which features nothing but strings of broken font characters.
The third sentence is a valid example, but the rest is essentially the same as the example I removed. I was going to remove that part again, but I thought it might constitute an edit war if I did, even though they were added by two different tropers (and I don't think King Lyger intentionally re-added a deleted example; that page has gotten a lot of edits).

openBadass Decay on YMMV/Sonic Forces Videogame
This trope was originally removed from YMMV.SonicForces as it "now argues with itself", but people keep adding it back in:
- Badass Decay: Silver's been hit hard with this. The guy who can handle Iblis, more than capable of killing Sonic and his powers are strong enough to the point where he can compress tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of pounds of cars and debris into a massive ball...can't handle a few Death Egg Robots.
Silver: "Hurry, Sonic! We can keep them in check, but not for long."
Should I remove it again?

bunny001 changed some examples. Usually the fanon pages are pretty up-for-grabs since fanon is so fluid and changes from area to area, but I'm doubting the validity of these edits.
These are the originals:
These are the edits:
I am not interested in Unova fan-works anymore, but I remember at least during Gen 5 itself the original versions were accurate. I've always seen Hilbert with Oshawott and Hilda with Snivy. I'd also say fanworks lean towards Nate over Rosa.
